Lumenplay App-Enabled Lights

This is app does not work for Android. After about 15 min it saw the lights but you could not control them or modify anything. Not laid out well or intuitive. I had to download it on an iPad to make it work. It works properly on the iPad. I'm using a Galaxy S8 so it's not like I'm using some ancient phone or Android version.

Terrible app... nothing seems to work... non-intuitive, + sign adds a feature, - sign asks if you want to remove entire program...allows me to copy and rename a theme but immediately renames it upon trying to save... brightness would not respond until exiting and re-entering screen... the list of aaarghs is longer than I care to type...

It only works with older devices and older versions of Android. You need at least Android version 4.3. For example this app will work with a Samsung Galaxy S3 running Android 4.3, and it'll also work with a Samsung Galaxy S5 running Android 4.4. However a Samsung Galaxy S7 running Android 7 will not work with this app. Also if your phone is too old it won't work either. For example an old LG phone running Android 4.1 will not work with this app. Alternatively an old iPhone 5 running iOS 10 will work when downloading this from the App Store. Keep in mind this Android app was last updated on February 28 2016. So it won't work with Android OS released after that date.

After installing the app it automatically needed a firmware update but wouldn't connect to the server. I left it running for 2 hours while connected to my WiFi and still wouldn't update. Without the update the app will not connect with the lights. Utterly useless.

Bought the starter pack and five extenders for a tree. Looked pretty switching from red to green slowly. Downloaded the app, firmware service starts, gets stuck at the updater service. Put the app in recovery mode, unplugged the lights, plugged them back in, installed the device firmware from recovery, reconnected, but while it says it connected nothing's actually working. Don't waste your money until the software improves.

This worked the first week like a dream. Then issue after issue arose. About 1/2 of the lights do not come on. Even after disconnecting and reconnecting multiple times. Very fickle.

Software fails to connect. Cannot update firmware or communicate even when it acts like it has connected... Bluetooth shows strand, but if it cannot connect or update, what's the point? Tried on two different devices, same result.

Tried on 3 different devices new and old and doesn't connect. BT is paired with it but app won't connect. This company should be sued and taken out of business. Garbage App, lights still turn on just have to run them as regular lights.

Junk app and product. App hasn't been updated in almost two years, probably explains why it doesn't work. Do not waste your time.

Doesn't connect to string and keeps crashing at start up (Samsung S7). Unusable app and lights! Very disappointing.

Great idea but after multiple conversations with tech support and multiple free new strings of lights this product just doesn't perform the earth I think it should. It always becomes unresponsive to the point where only certain strands light up. Colors were often unmatched making for an ugly display. I gave this 3 stars because dispute the downfalls of the string and globe lights the color splash lights have performed perfectly. Fix please! Adding a reset button on the controllers may be the solution!

Works great, change the tree up for every holiday or season. Never had the problems people are having. Only real gripe is there is no true white for the lights

It doesn't work on Android 7. I had a tablet running Android 6, the app worked pretty well with it. As soon as I updated to Android 7 it does working. I have 3+ devices with 7 and none of them works.

It's astounding how simple and yet unfriendly this app is. The list of lights to connect to refreshes faster than the program can connect to them, turning a 2 minute task of changing them to a 2 hour task of complete frustration.

They need to spend some time improving this software if they think they are going to keep selling lights. I have lights that have a password and they cannot be accessed because the password screen doesn't work! Please fix!

Ok lights if you don't pay much more than you would for a regular strand of similar size and length. On the plus side they seem to connect to the app fairly easy and quality of lights seem good. The app itself becomes the problem. You can do some very basic things pretty easy and the timer function seems to work good but beyond that it lacks. The color selection seems finicky if you are trying to get different colors in the same family, only a handful of preset modes, no pre selected colors (no white and could not create it), and you can only pick one song for music not albums or any kind of variety or playlist. I have also had a couple of issues where when the timer shuts off it only shuts one strand of lights off and not all; on some light modes colors get included that are not colors I chose to use.

App doesn't work! Can't update which makes the lights pointless because you can't alter them or do anything with them... Don't buy the lights, save your money!

Not working on Android this year. No control functions appear to be working. Did work in previous years so obviously something changed in Android and this company didn't keep up. A cautionary tale for consumers and businesses that think app development is a once and done sort of thing.

Another victim of a bad product. Worked last year, kind of. A few updates later, and I'm in the same boat as everyone else. No control over lights at all.

Does not work! I've replaced several light strings (mind you they are not cheap).... and have come to realize it's the app! Lots of money wasted!

Pros: More customizeable than "AppLIghts" from the orange big box store. Cons: 1) a string failed new from box. 2) Bluetooth range is NOT 50 feet as stated on FAQ page. Won't connect 10 feet away thru a window. I have to go outside and be within 4-5 feet of the starter set. 3) App is not intuitive, poor instructions, 4) App freezes 5) LIghts often freeze during scene selection and color editing, only a complete reboot of lights will fix. 6) color selector interface is quirky/touchy. Direct HEX RGB color entry would be helpful. 7) Colors are not true to screen representation on palette. 8) Impossible to generate "Warm White" color - default white is Cool White. 9) While I said it's more customizeable than AppLIghts, AppLights has much better pre-programmed effects/animations. NOT READY FOR PRIME TIME YET. FIXES AND IMPROVEMENTS DESPERATELY NEEDED.

Got working by just opening app to connect and not trying to pair with device first. A little glitchy, but working now.

Will not work on my s7edge. I invested in 4 strands amd now nothing. This needs to be fixed!!

It does not work as advertised and you are unable to connect to the lights if you even can get the app

Worked 2 days now won't hook to Bluetooth, and lights are in crazy mode! Returning to store!

Horrible app, just as horrible as the lights that did nothing other than stay white.

Terrible app. There are no instructions and it simply doesn't work. Until they invest money to fix the app, DO NOT BUY ANY LUMENPLAY products. Update on 11/18/17 - The product is still terrible and works with non of my devices ranging from iPhones to Android tablets and phones. I end up in a firmware update cycle that never finishes. After following the recovery process it still prompts for a firmware update. This app needs a lot more testing before it is ready for prime time.

It's a pain to set up each year but worth the cost once it's connected.

Doesn't work. Definitely not user friendly. The app is not the same as the app used in the video.

The app is not good at all they need to fix the app and get the bug fixes out of it for all the money we paid for the lights we need a better app

It would be great if this app even worked. I can't make the app do anything, and the help screens are nonexistent.

Update bricked my lights.

Had a few issues with the lights but if you follow all instructions more than likely yours will be solved. Shelly with Lumenplay was informative and very helpful. Everything is working well now. Customer service contacted me and informed me that you must UNPAIR the Lumenplay on your bluetooth (for whatever reason my lights did not come with directions). Thank you lumenplay for your swift email response.

They suck! App sucks and after decorating our tree they won't even turn on. We have only owned them for 2 days!

Lights are OK, not all that bright and accurate but I got a great deal on the lights so can't complain all that much.

Tried everything. Cannot connect to my controller after less than a season. What a waste.
