Ryobi™ GDO System™ for Android
Worked fine until recently. Now all the app will do is open and close the door...That's if it will connect. Will no longer operate any of the modules or light. Pretty pissed.
Error commission with server. I continue to have problems with this app. Wifi losses connection frequently. There's no way to troubleshoot the wifi. You have to readd the device again. Unstable.
I'm having issues with the app only. I can use the interior/exterior control and remotes with no problem opening and closing but, when I use the app to close it goes down but, reverses as if something was in the way but, there is nothing in the way.
Please work with WINK to make it compatible with their hub. It would be so amazing to be able to automate garage door functions and your system is way better than chamberlain, you'd kill the competition if you got Wink compatibility.
Does not see any networks when trying to connect. A commissioning error pops up, but you can't even read the whole thing and no way to scroll. Nexus 5x phone. This app is worthless. I have rebooted router, gdo, phone all with same outcome. I wish I could return the whole gdo and get my money back
What did you do??? It was working.....OK until the app updated today. Now what??? I bought this thing because of the app capabilities and now it doesn't work???? Comon man!
Every day i have to re-program the system..not happy with the app.
This app is super unfriendly get it together people!

Samsung S5. New Linksys N750 router. I have some experience connecting multiple devices via the router. I now have 24 devices connected via my wireless router. 16 wireless light controls, 7 Alexa voice activated hubs, and now Ryobi GDO. To skip all the drama, connecting multiple devices require some finesse. I restarted my wireless router and phone before I attempted the process. I connected the GDO via the app on the first try. A new wireless router is crucial for connection.
Samsung Note 3 X xfinity wpa2 wireless router. Connects fine to phone but as soon as you leave the house looses connection and does not connect back unless you resync it. Also if you have a Ford will not work with your on board GDO buttons.
So far, doesn't work, Galaxy S5 and Airport extreme router... No good troubleshooting, the app hangs on "negotiating connection," and never connects. Pretty bummed. Also pretty bummed to see a good number of complaints about the "Negotiating Connection" and then not having a good troubleshoot/fix/FAQ on this issue. I guess I'll wait till my wife gets home with her iPhone to then get it to work. Pretty lame dudes.
Samsung g4 with Android 5.x and Linksys WRT 1200 wireless access point with WPA2 encryption. Gets to negotiating with home network, and never comes back. Tried to use my Nexus 7 tablet with Android 6.x, but it's not supported. 0 for 2 on getting Ryobi apps to work.
This app is good, and does almost everything I would expect from this type of utility EXCEPT notify me whenever the garage door opens, at anytime. On first use, it took a while to connect with the opener unit (acouple minutes, tops) but, once it did, joining the GD200 to my network was fall-down easy. I like the fact that I can determine the charge state of the battery pack, and modify the fan speed with the flick of a finger. This makes my life easier, for the most part, instead of adding unnecessary complications. Now, if you can modify the app to push a notification anytime the door is opened, this app would be complete.
This app worked excellently on my gs7 until the most recent update. Now I get connectivity errors and have to log in all the time unless I am on my home wifi. Also, connectivity with Ford home link opener is basically nonexistent, even though the manual expressly says there is home link compatibility. Please fix, or at least roll back the crappy update.
If it ain't broke - don't fix it!!!!! Roll back the freakin' update!!!!! This has now become useless Update: It's working fine again so I am updating my review to 4 stars. If the GDO can be integrated with ifttt so that I can get it to open/close with my smartthings hub it would be perfect. thanks!
I can't connect my phone, a Samsung , Galaxy 5 - Android 5.0. It just keeps spinning on the negotiating connection. What else do I need to know. This is very frustrating. We bought the garage door opener just to have this App, and now it doesn't work.
As with many others, my GDO won't get past the "negotiating connection" stage. This app is a big part of the whole GDO and should work. I mean, I could have bought cheapo GDO if I didn't want access through the app. I've restarted the GDO, re-installed the app, reset everything etc. etc. Still doesn't work.
For those having issues using MAC filtering Lists...the numbers listed in the Ryobi network is the units MAC address. Spotted that right away once i added that to my approved list of wireless MAC filtering it took off. You may need to restart the app.
Same problems others have, took 3 times to get connected, now I can't rename the opener to something meaningful. Open app always prompts for login regardless of the prompt for password setting. Now just like others getting the dreadful Internet Not Connected and have to kill the app to get out. Expected something better for the price of the GDO. But the GDO is great, just the bugs in the app.
I bought this garage door opener for my parents for Christmas and the app for it is literally the worst app I have ever used. I have a galaxy s7 and so do my parents and we get the negotiating connection error on all of our phones. I also have problems where the door opens when you press 1 on the keypad even tho the keypad is programmed and works when you enter the 4 digit pin (not the app). Highly recommend not purchasing this garage door opener!
Door is great when only works but the app is the only way I can open the door as none of the remotes are programmable and there is no customer support without social media. Now the app has crashed and my car is stuck inside. ...All we need is a support phone number. Not happy.
Won't stay logged in. Extremely inconvenient. You have to use an easy password or try to remember a complicated password when you need it. Need to fix. This didn't used to be a problem. Still a problem makes it worthless changing the one star
Recently my app has gotten a message telling me there was a connection error and that I needed to verify my internet connection even though I was connected to the internet. Otherwise this apps worked just like it was designed to do.
I do like the GDO, however been on the phone three times trying to get help with connecting to wifi..no help there. I have called my internet provider to get help. However they need a port number to help connect.. soooo frustrated with Ryobi customer service.they do not have an idea how and where to find such info.. Everything in my home connect fine, no issues except for this opener...Ryobi we need a fix. My last resort is to return the unit...
If the app would actually work, it would be great. I keep getting connection error, be sure you are connected to the internet, when I open the app. Works fine on my wife's phone, we both have LG V20's.
I write this review outside my garage, freezing in 20 degree weather, due to the fact that the garage door opener that you input the code into isn't working (despite entering the correct code several times) and this garbage app is not functional 70% of the time. I have uninstalled the app and reinstalled the app four times now, and I continue to get connection error messages, and even HTML errors. No particular reason for the error, just lines of code pertaining to the color of the text. I have to exit out of the app after using it in order for it to work open returning home, and even that doesn't work sometimes. I understand not everyone can develop an app, as I certainly cannot but why even bother going to market with the GDO if the app doesn't even work.
Garage door works great, a pain to self install. (NOTE: make sure you buy the 8ft door extension pack if you have a a 8ft tall door.) My phone says "negotiating connection" and is stuck on it. Need to know how to fix. Samsung S7 android 6.0.1
Garage door works awesome, and app is nice.... WHEN IT DOESNT CRASH! App will crash on startup, saying I'm not connected to internet, won't get past the start screen, or it will open then crash after a couple seconds. Fortunately we have actual remotes... But without smartphone app functionality, why even buy a smart gdo? Fix the damn app.
Love the opener. Lately have received notifications that door opens and closes while no one is home but app shows door has been closed since I left.
Won't connect.I have called customer support 3 times today. They keep telling me to install completely and reinstall and try again. There customer support has no idea how to fix this. I don't know what to do. I already had to add an extension wire of my own just to get the outdoor keypad to work. I feel like I am Jerry rigging my garage door opener. I'm really dissapointed with this purchase. Everything else works, I just don't believe I should have to jump through all these hoops.
I tried to get this app to work a hundred different times with multiple different devices and. if I would of known it was this terrible I would have gladly have spent the extra $100 on a well-known garage door opener that has a good app
This app worked awesome when I first got the gdo . Now it won't let me in , tells me check my Internet connection . I could control my gdo from my galaxy s5 from anywhere but now nothing. . So frustrating, please fix & I'll give 5 stars ... every thing else about this gdo is great. ...
Update: After not connecting with multiple phones and routers, tried again this morning and the opener connected to the network on the first try. All functions seem to be working now. No idea why it suddenly worked. Updated rating.
It took a couple of weeks to get the app to sync with openers. It would sit on "negotiating connection" and would never connect. I do like the app, would have been 5 stars if I could connect the same day.
All these bad reviews are some B-S. This garagr opener and its app are so cool..the app works like a charm, you just have to be patient, when its connecting to your wifi, be prepared to wait 10-15 minutes before it connects. If you're still having problems with it, the ryobi customer support was very helpful.

So far so good. Only had it for 8 hours everything seems to be working fine. Have not bought any modules yet. The only thing I don't like is, there is no way to connect or hook up external lights so when the garage door opens or closes they come on to. The LED light is not bright enough for me. Would like to have extra outlets to hook up that come on and go off with garage door opening and closes.
