SpyAware Privacy Defender for Android
This app hasnt been updated in some time. Ive had it installed for over a week and it doesnt even work. Heck, it doent even stay running in the background. Dont install this app, it doesnt work.
It's a unique app but it absolutely destroys your battery life. For this reason, I have no option but to uninstall until this is improved.
I didn't know just how much data some of my apps were taking. It was shocking to see where in the world my data was being sent. This information caused me to remove several apps.
You need to pay after downloading!!! Look at your score "Location Sentry LLC" people don't like your marketing strategy!
In real time, where your data is going, what it includes & how, if at all, it affects you. Awesome.
contacted back, fixing in progress
I'm giving it 5 stars I'm half of the reviews I've already read
Until I root my phone (very soon) this lets me see what apps are doing even when I haven't opened them or used them (some of them have never been used, yet still send/receive info, etc.) I like it. Good work and kudos to your handling of people's problem with test driving it. . ;)
Have to pay to get info on apps
$2.99?? Why?
It would be a great app if it actually worked for longer than 30 mins then it crashes and stops working then i delete and re-install and same thing fix this and 5 star
The only thing that uses more battery is my screen.
All I can say is "Nice!" SpyAware has set the standard for privacy on the Android platform. You can see what applications are sending what and where. After using this for only 24 hours I found a few "misbehaving" applications that were promptly uninstalled. If you're looking for a simple solution to keep your applications in check: look no further! Excited for the upcoming features!
This is a great app! I love having SpyAware notify and protect me from unwanted data piracy. I love being able to see which apps are stealing my data and where they are sending it.
I find this application incredibly useful for understanding where my applications are sending data geographically, and the quantity of data that is being sent by applications, as well as for quickly reviewing all of the permissions of the apps on my phone in the context of how much they are being used (or abused). When I notice an application sending data internationally, for instance, and there's no possibly good reason for it, I uninstall it. This application stays there and gives you mobile threat intelligence on a regular basis. It's almost a public service. Thank you Location Sentry!!
Kind of amazing (and scary) what seemingly benign apps are collecting. Great tool to make you aware and informed.
In real time, where your data is going, what it includes & how, if at all, it affects you. Awesome.
Purchased this app , cause I really wanted to know what apps does with data, Alas, this App just inform you some app stole your data but which data is transferred is kept 'secret' !
Incredible! Best app I've found.
Nice to be able to focus on the worse violators vs. smaller threats.
You wanted an app with its core functionality stripped from an app so it had bugs, pay walls before you use the apps core functionality, and parts blatantly missing. This app smells like something: ubisoft.
$2.99?? Why?
I view this more as a piece of scareware than having any real security value. Sure, its nice, to know that my Google contacts are being synced to Norway, but honestly, why is that a critical issue? It's not, its how a distributed architecture works. Needs some significant improvement, and quite frankly I'm surprised this piece of garbage made it onto the Microsoft Security Slate at all.
Spy aware takes so long to load could be robbing all data
Installed this app after reading about it on Wired. Honestly feel kind of disappointed. This app doesn't reveal much besides what you already know. Basically summarizes all info and presents it to you in an easy to read format. Maybe in the future when more features are added, this app will become worth the money paid for it. The most interesting and useful parts are the map locations of IPs accessing your phone, and the ability to submit a complaint about each app using built in links.

Its frustrating that this was recommended by WIRED (what I thought was a trusted publication) - only to find that its not really doing much more than telling me what the apps themselves told me when I installed them. This simply reminds me that when I installed specific apps, and gave said apps permission to access things like my location, that they are doing what they said they would do: access things like my location. It doesnt allow you to even temporarily block these apps, instead it merely gives you the option to uninstall everything that might be sending/receiving data At this point, I guess I just dont even get what this app is good for other than remind me what I have already agreed to...oh, and taking my $3. Were it possible to get a refund, I'd gladly take one
Free app? Nope just free to install and use resources. Then pay for each feature. False advertising. Avoid this app.

The app actually costs $2.99. After downloading you are presented with a seemingly worthless app. Clicking anything results in a paywall coming up. I paid in regrettably and was disappointed with the cost compared to what I got. There are better apps out there that do the same and more for rooted phones that are actually free. Not "free". This disappointed me considering I was happy to see the company is located in my home city of Vancouver, WA.
I'd never pay for this before seeing any detail besides what can be seen in the settings app.... Pay walls everywhere. Garbage.
Sorry, but I'm not paying $3 for an app I can't at least test drive first to see if it's worth buying.
This is very eye opening, I had no idea some of these apps were accessing my location
It is amazing to see what apps are accessing information on your phone and where the data is being sent around the globe. Privacy should be everyone's concern, especially on a global Internet. Great job, SpyAware.
Hard to tell what this will do without buying it. The free version not very useful, and spending 3.00 to test it is expensive.

OH NO HE DI 'INT!!! You guys that are giving one stars mean you have to actually pay money to use a useful app that took someone time to make?? NO WAY! It's 3 bucks. Pay for it and get the full benefits. It's pretty cool.
This app is just awesome!
This app does nothing except want you to upgrade for $2.99...not me...good bye & yes you were rated a 1 because your so miserable leading

It is excellent and quite unique. The only reason it is not getting all 5 stars is because lately it has crashed very often. Otherwise, I would gladly give it 10 stars were it possible. But I thank the developer for what his app does. Thanks again and please keep up the good work.
