*About importing projects created by the free version:

*The projects in the free version can be transferred to pro version by hand, using the export to MusicXML and then import to pro version. But we have noticed that is a boring process. So we'll find ways to make it transfer data automatically.
*To do this you should export from free version and then import to pro version.
*Follow a few steps below.
*Export:
*Tap the share button on the top-left corner in the overview mode where you could see more than one staff in free *version. A dialog will be shown. Choose "Save MusicXML file to SD" or "Share MusicXML file" as you like to export *the score to a MusicXML file.
*Import:
*Currently you can not browse MusicXML files within the app directly. Alternately you could use some other file *management apps like "Astro" to browse files on your SD card or in other location, then just click the right *MusicXML file and open it with Ensemble Composer Pro. Finally you shout save it before exit.

-----------------------

Features:
-Import/Export in the industry-popular MusicXML file format, allowing for exchanging sheet music with other software (Finale, etc).

-Support for up to 15 instruments played simultaneously, providing capability for orchestral scoring.

-Uses midi for sound, allowing it to support over 100 kinds of musical instruments with a small app size.

-Export midi files or set your compositions as ringtones.

-Supports saving scores for future re-edit.

-Multiple levels of undo to make editing smoother.

-Switch between two view modes for easy editing and viewing.

-Share the sheet music or audio you create via email or export to printable A4-paper-sized JPG image file format.

-----------------------

Supported notation:
*A variety of note types, from whole notes to 32nd notes and dotted notes

*A variety of time signatures

*All standard key signatures

The app acually works very well... Untill you convert it to a midi file. The midi file is way off from the original peice when put on the computer. Parts come in late, and some don't come in at all! I would most definitely rate five stars once this is fixed. Edit: Also, takes a long time to generate songs

For the most its great, just like the free versions but with more add ons that just makes this perfect. One problem you may want to fix is the play button. When i select a instrument of my choice I have to select the instrument first then play, but when its a section of instruments together all at once, there is no action, it's just a score that cannot be played. Please fix this issue, I have the samgung galaxy s7 and i would give 5 stars if I can finnaly play some score sheets

Looks great from tutorials and such like and what I've been able to do myself it looks ideal. But I can access half the stuff because no menu buttons are available at the bottom of my oneplus3t screen. Paid for pro version too. Wasted money.

W70%
by W####:

Where is the playback button? Where are the options? I know where they are in the free version. They are not in the same place for the pro version, and I can't find them. This is nothing like the demo version of your software. If I had known the pro version was broken I would not have spent $10. Please fix

This used to be a great app until the menu button was removed. There is no menu button on my phone that I can press either, so the only way to get the menu to pop up is to hold the back button. The problem is, if I want to hear any changes I've made, I have to save and exit before reopening. This means I have to remember what I changed in case I don't like it and manually undo it, because I can't simply exit without saving to undo changes. The menu was never intrusive before and I could still see plenty of the score when it was there. Bring it back, it's a massive P.I.T.A. to use this app without it.

Do not buy this app if you have a Samsung Galaxy A3. The menu system doesn't work at all. It has less functionality than the free version. I was totally conned out of my money. If there were anyone to complain to I would do so.

04/06/17 Still an issue. The Pro app is useless to me as there is no way to access anything (not even to just play the sample scores included!). I now only use the free version because it's accessible. Such a shame cuz I love the app. I changed phones and suddenly there's no menu to play any compositions. I checked the free Ensemble Composer and the menu is still accessible (there's an arrow on the top right hand of the screen that toggles the menu opened & closed) can you please add this to the paid app? Otherwise this app, which I formally loved and used constantly, is pretty much useless. PS Holding down my phones menu button doesn't work to open any menu

After getting a new phone, export problems seem to be fixed. I still recommend using something like musescore though, as you are limited to basic GM instruments.

I've been using the free version of this app for a while, and I had been irritated by a lack of features like copy/paste, certain special dynamic marks, key/tempo/time changes, and transposition. I finally decided, after working on it for a while, to try the full version, and still found it severely lacking in many of the same features I had needed before! Also, many of the functions it has are hard to use. Maybe add a help button to explain the special functions?

The app won't let me create a song. When I try it goes back to the launch page. Please fix, I've written songs and its a good app but for some reason now I can't write anything.

We, the people who use this app, should be able to have text under the staffs, and be able to have a key change and time signature change in the middle of the song. Also, there should be an auto save feature. I have exited this app numerous of times, and I have forgotten to save my music numerous of times.

It was a fantastic app, then the developer took a direct nosedive into Doesn't-Give-a-Damnland. Amongst other issues, there's no longer a menu button in overview mode, making editing quite difficult. I sent the developer a couple of emails regarding this issue without a response nor fix. I wouldn't be throwing such a fit if I hadn't purchased the pro version, or if there was a better composer app. Hopefully, it will be rectified.

I had th is on my S3, and I loved it so much. I upgraded to an S5 and now I cannot use the program because the lower left menu button is only on the S3 so I can't save or do anything of importance...learned to hold the silly new rectangles button to access the all important menu. This app is soooo worth it.

I like this app a lot. Had to read comments thoroughly to resolve my questions, or look on YouTube. I have not yet found how to - 'export to printable A4-paper-sized JPG image file format'. Do you have an answer to this please? I read that the jpg only shows 2 staves at a time, is this so? 'Repeat' mark moves to the penultimate bar for some reason when saving? Thanks for the work put in, so far I am very happy using it.

This is a great app and works great, but it was a little hard to learn how to use the menu button on the pro version. On the android, one has to hold down the back button. Why not just have a menu button? One thing that would make it better would be to add more instruments and more percussion instruments, such as battery instruments(cymbals, snare drum, bass drum, etc.). It would also be better if it had roll symbol (the 3 lines on the stem of the note) and when you edit, you don't have to quit and save.

by S####:

I have tried a few notation apps and found this to be one of the better ones. Saying that, there could be a lots of improvements that could be done. I see that a lot of people have complained about the note/bar sizes when saved as an image. This is easily rectified by moving the Overview Scale slider way over to the left. This can be found within the main settings.

Seemingly incompatable with the Samsung Galexy Tab A, which doesn't have a three squares "menu" button, and maps holding down its two overlapping rectangles "recent apps" button to activating its split screen function. That said, on my old tablet, which had no such issue, it was very good. I ran into a fair number of "it would be nice if..." things, but nothing i disliked about it.

I've been looking for ages for an app on which I can compose/arrange on my phone, and came across this! Great potential in it, especially in the ability to export XML files to other desktop music software. Please would you add a decresc. hairpin, and also place all hairpins below the stave (only in choral music do they go above.) Also, could you change 'choir aahs' etc to Sop/Alto/Ten/Bass? If I open the app on an Android tablet (as opposed to phone) will I see more staves in my score, or just bigger ones?! Looking forward to further developments in this!

I don't like to talk bad about fellow musicians, however when composing music, there are times when key and tempo changes are needed which this app does not offer. Another thing that upsets me is that there are no voice parts in bass celf, so writing music for tenors and basses is very difficult. Also, I there is no tempo marking for Cut Time which is very popular such as with marches. This app is very good for beginning composers, however I would not recommend this app to a more advanced composer.

I was wondering if you could add some more percussion instruments. I'm composing a few songs for our school and the band likes to use things such as the vibraslap and ratchet. I would appreciate it because this is so far the only composition app I use. Thanks!

S70%
by S####:

The app is a good basic start... being said, I think that the app would benefit for having fermatas that hold out, tempo changes. Time signature changes, and key changes. How do you expect users to compose a short work without having the tools and the foundations to compose a successful ensemble.

Z70%

I used the free version and it worked but when I tried the pro version the menu with the play button and settings don't even show up, so you can't play anything, total waste of money considering the main point of the app won't even show up. I've tried reinstalling, didn't work. I really don't get how the free version works more than the pro? This is garbage for 10 dollars.

As there isn't any menu in view mode to change the score, simply unusable. Hope for update Xperia z2. furthermore copy and paste, coda, songtext, drumnotes, tabs, chords, paddling, 8va/8vb, change time/key signature midpiece and brackets are missing!!! Please add these features and a working menu and it is a five star app.

This app was supposedly designed to import and export XML files. However, "full-featured" in my experience does not seem to run to importing XML files, only saving them. (PostScript - I left this review as I could not find any way to contact the software developers. They plainly don't read these reviews, since I have had no response to this review nearly a week later)

Touts the ability to play multiple tracks, nonexistent. Free version has a nice menu where you can add instruments, no menu in paid version. What a scam, I want a refund. If the pro version actually provided what it was supposed to, this would be awesome. This is no different than the free version!!! FIX OR REFUND!

I love using this app a lot, trust me. But, it has a hugeee glitch that really needs to be fixed... When I try to play a song, it says the app stopped and will take me back to the title screen. I've tried closing the app, I've even tried restarting my phone, but I didn't seem to find a solution... It's happened to me twice so far: one time a little bit ago with a short piano song that I could easily redo, but it also happened to me today with a huge project I've been working on... Please fix this.

This was such a great app before they updated it a while back and got rid of the menu?? Like, ?? Why would you get RID of the menu? The only way to get it to show up is to hold the back button - yet when you want to edit, the menu disappears and you can't use it until youve exited your file and re-entered. Really a pain - put the menu back in.

I love this app! Creating music hasn't been better! But the only thing I'm wishing would be on this app would be music accessories. What I mean by that is that this app is missing the important components to most music pieces. This app would need Tempo Changing, Time Signature Changing, Key Signature Changing, D.S. al Coda, Description into Music, etc. Another thing that I would really love is a greater number of instruments for play. 15 isn't that great of a number for writing a composition for orchestra.

S70%
by S####:

I also ran into the missing menu button problem. However, I managed to work around this by enabling the on-screen buttons in the Android settings. It's rather inconvenient though and I'd prefer this to work same as in the free version again. Hope this helps.

S70%

However, I'm disappointed that you can't change the key signature, time signature, and tempo for each measure. I would've been happier if that feature was there. Otherwise I might have to get a refund.

Should be able to send all of my compositions on the free app over to the pro version. Also needs more percussion. Snare, cymbal, etc. Crashes when I try to add an instrument alike one I already have.

S70%
by S####:

The app is good but I'm giving 1 star because of the lack of information about how to use it. How come it doesn't have a menu bottom??? and we have to figure it out how works watching YouTube videos about it?? and not Even yours but somebody else that was in the same situation and felt sorry and made a video about it!!!!!! Improve the app!!!!! It has been a nightmare to get to print my music!!!!! And that's not your intention I'm sure, so fix it and I'll think about changing my review.

E70%

In the free version, from the score you can select an arrow that shows you the settings, play button, etc. Going to settings, you see that you have many tools at your disposal IF you buy the app. I did. Result? That arrow button is gone. Been trying to figure it out for an hour. No settings or playback is available. If I pay for something, it needs to frigging work. This app is a trap.

S70%

The app works great, I can maneuver pretty well along. The only thing that should come back is the 3 dot circle to pull up the menu. For some reason it has disappeared and I am on the latest update.

V70%

But nearly did. Lucky I'm rooted and got a menu button app. Half the time holding the back button would ask if I wanted save before exit. No menu. You want sales, fix it. Other than that I like it. It appears to be the only decent notation app on android. One that doesn't have a menu button that is.

At first I had a difficult time because certain applications of the menu button are different in the Pro version. thanks for the explanation James Carter.
