LostNet NoRoot Firewall for Android
Got more than what expected. Could not uninstall Baidu Chinese Spyware, so blocked Chinese country specific traffic itself with this app. After that got to know that my Coolpad ui tried to contact Chinese servers 900 times within an hour. You can completely control your traffic with this app. I blocked ADs also saving data. It also keep giving alerts on what are being blocked in status bar. Love this app.
I downloaded this app reading a couple reviews on what goes on with apps we don't know about; amazing what it shows! I'm not a techie like these guys here, but knowing that I am in control of my info. NOT going out of the country is really good to know. It would be better for us non techies, to have more details on using this app please! You would get more users of this great app!
But it adds 3 icons to the status bar (top left), and no way to remove or hide them. Give me that to get 5 stars. Apparently has no customer support. Installed this on my slow Moto Bionic (Android 4.1.2), it sped back up to its original fast self! Won't let my Moto Droid Maxx XT1080 communicate. Only the phone works. Otherwise, seriously cool that you can block access to regions or individual countries (or both). Can't even get that on a PC firewall. Stops background I/O and almost all ads. Awesome!
This app is amazing. It does what it says it does. Saves me tons of data. The only downside of this app is sometimes it likes to crash. Also I have to restart my phone in order to get it working again. I have a Samsung Galaxy s6. Fix this bug and if possible I'd rate it much higher. Another thing that needs to be fixed is the mobile hotpot. It will not allow me to do it unless I turn the app off.
When protection is enabled if your WiFi provider blocks use of VPN connections all search apps will not work. If you're at home or on cell network THIS WORKS VERY WELL. If you enable another VPN app this must be turned off,
No built-in apps on list, just those I downloaded. Power consumption is way too big. 34 % of total 50% battery spent is used by this app. Still will use it few more days to make honest decision about do I going to use it or not. So far it does not deserve higher raiting.
I had used all firewalls before this app but no one work fine like this! This is the best pro firewall for unrooted devices. Just one thing should be add to this app, its a "select all" tik option!. Ty
Works quite well. Especially the block when background is good. It does now work with mail send from K9-mail though, even if all are allowed. The UI is not exactly perfect but things can be set up... Embarrassing that you have to redo ALL setup when you buy the pro version...
I haven't tried the pro version yet, but I will. I like the ad blocking and the exposure some of my apps have had. I never knew boat browser was contacting another country on my behalf!! Look forward to a long relationship with this app!
Did not realise how much some of my apps kept trying to contact sites. It's disgusting that some apps send information over the net yet do not need the internet to function. Very disappointed in some developer's. Very happy with this dev
It works great when it works, i have noticed it ends up blocking the Internet many times and I miss important communications. This is dangerous. I have stopped using it but if this is fixed I might endup buying the pro version.
Pretty good app, seems to block the wow app. A little buggy at times, using the back arrow sometimes kicks me right out of the app. Has great details for traffic sent, received and blocked. Great ad blocking. Make a few improvements and it would easily be a five star app.
Seems to block some Internet activities, but main problem is with emails being blocked, would rate higher if this problem was fixed. Phone shows wifi activity but LostNet shows nothing being blocked. On Samsung note 3 with lollipop.
Summary - some apps still connect to Internet when they are blocked and the app freezes Internet connectivity after some time and none of the apps cannot connect to Internet even though they are allowed. E.g. I was receiving WhatsApp message even when WhatsApp was blocked under the firewall. This makes me feel that it is not 100% reliable. It was a mistake to buy the paid version and I would like a refund. I have decided to uninstall it.
Works great! But I gave 3 stars because the app does not register changes: new apps don't show up on the list and uninstalled apps remain on the list. When I make any app changes, I need to uninstall this app and reinstall it to get it to work. That's a little annoying. Other than that, it works perfectly.
The first recommendation I got from this russian APP was to block russia. Later on this firewall even stopped trusting itself and blocked itself from the internet. But it also managed to block each other APP from calling home aka China and other suspicious places.
I was surprised that this app exposed one of my favorite apps that was trying to send info about color of my underwear. Is there any app out there that isn't spying on us. Well I give it 5 stars for now until I install another app that says this is spying on me.
The only thing I wish I new was what apps unblock the internet when I have every locked down. Im currently on a hacked phone and LostNet block most the hacking, the others I tried did not. Thank you so very much for this terrific app.
With this app, I now know which apps are the worst offenders when it comes to useless world-wide jibber-jabber. I don't know or care what those apps are attempting to do but this app puts the kybosh on all of those shenanigans and tom-foolery. Thank you for creating this app!
Like Daniel Epperson, I'm having trouble locating an application, Firefox browser, in the list of applications so i can allow it. Pages take a very long time to load, in fact, don't load at all as compared to disabling LostNet VPN. I have restarted the LostNet firewall and still can't find the app. Please advise.
Frequently (a few times a day), I need to go into App Settings and force it to stop because it locks up and kills my Internet connection.
The app looks fantastic I just wonder if there any way that it can be verified, that it's actually doing what it says its doing? I only gave 4 stars because the user interface has some slight tweaks it still needs, but other than that its just fantastic is there a way that we can verify that it's actually blocking what it says?
I am using my phone as wifi hotspot or as tethered hsdpa modem, but then I need to disable the firewall to have connectivity. This is my only gripe. I love seeing what access was blocked. My phone is not rooted and this is the best unrooted firewall I have experienced.
Listed under all app filter? For me not listed apps are wechat, xander. These unlisted or listed with other app icon and name? Because there appears to be multiple listing of some apps. Also when apps have been uninstalled why do they remain in the management list? An ever growing list with many redundant apps is messy. Should only show installed apps even if uninstalled ones are maintained in a list or db. Very excellent otherwise.
I'm uninstalling this for two basic reason plus others: checking background blocking for one app hinders all internet access. The trial cloud shark feature fails when I try to use it. I don't really know what it's doing if I can't get some kind of report.
I'll try the free version for a few weeks, then I'll consider the paid version. It's hard to find trustworthy apps these days, as most seem to spy too much, and give nothing in return. So, you'll need to excuse me, if I'm a bit suspicious of anything that Google can get its dirty claws into.
EDIT: Whenever wifi loses connection, I have to disable firewall otherwise no internet at all. Fix this and I will restore 5 stars. Old description: Ads are still slipping through though but love it how you can turn off network for specific apps (like the flashlight apps)
Great concept! Maybe it's me, but I find the "block when in background" function buggy; I.e. it doesn't let foreground operations unblock on my device. Still informative (a bit unsettling sometimes) and definitely a keeper. You'll like it.
Find this app very useful. It blocks ads and connections to dangerous locations very well and globally throughout your system. However the challenge is that it frequently blocks Internet access when you haven't been using your phone for a while and come back to it. To get around it I turn the firewall off and browse to a website and then turn it on again and it works until you let your phone sleep for a while. I have enabled it to run as a background app, but app needs usage access?

Thanks I love it this app solve my problems Thank you very............................too much I love this app all of making teams thanks once again
Does what i want it to do , restrict background and foreground data ❤ but i soon realised lostnet also munches data , 2,93 gb of data in a month with all my other apps using less than 20 mbs , how do i stop lostnet firewall's BACKGROUND data on wifi ?
But it adds 2 icons to the status bar (top left) and there's no way to remove or hide them. Give me that and you'll get 5 stars (look up the "Swapps" app, for example). I installed this and my slow Moto Bionic (Android 4.1.2) sped back up to its original fast self! (Doesn't work on Moto Droid Maxx 4.4.) Seriously cool that you can block access to regions or individual countries (or both). Can't even get that on my PC firewall. Use this to stop all the background I/O and ads and you'll be running fast again.
I have block ads off and it's still blocking ads. Constantly pops up a notification that blocked ads. Annoying. Looks like the app is in very early stage. Although WiFi is allowed gmail app is not fetching new mail.
My Carat J-score was a terrible 18 before installing this app. In less than 12 hours Lostnet is claiming to have blocked thousands of background connection attempts. That hasn't impacted my J-score yet but I'm going to check it in a couple days. If this app gets my J-score back into the 55-70 range, like all my other devices, it'll be worth its weight in platinum!
The way to get this to work and it works beyond expectation too is to run straight to the app if you cannot check the tick mark at start up and manually start the app as fast as you can immediately after boot up and start the application and hit the tick box. This suggestion is for those who have the latest Kit Kat update from Google. Update!!! This app will cut data at times due to the experimental feature and so just leave it off. Sadly uses much battery.
Nothing gets in or out with out my say. After being hacked multiple times, have not had problems since finding this one!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
This is one of the great app. I use NetGuard which is also a great app when working but it crashes a lot. LostNet working great except that block while in background does NOT work at all. It blocks Internet completely even when i am using the app. It should block internet when in the background, no? Btw, block ad works great! I will give 5 star once background block works
This is an initial review and I have a couple of issues. I use a Samsung G5. I do NOT like the notification boxes on the lock screen. They cover up information that must be viewed and there's no way to get rid of them. The add blocking is nice but it interferes with one of apps that I use. The feature occasionally locks my phone and requires a reboot. If I turn the add blocker off, the problem(s) dissapeer. Whether the app does everything it claims to do remains to be seen. Time will tell. OH, one more thing....I HATE the notification every time something is blocked! Apparently you can turn that feature off if you give them the 99 cents for the "pro" version. That's a nice way to generate revenue, put some irritating feature in the app that costs money to turn off. PLay with it if you want but I can't recommend giving them 99 cents. I'm having too many problems with it.
