About Age Grader
Every wonder what your athletic results would be like if you were in the prime of your life, well the Lollylegs Age Grader lets you see how your athletic results would convert if you were in an open age athlete(ie. maximum strength and ability).
For most athletic events, the age for 'prime of life' is approximately 22yo to 30yo. This app uses professionally developed tables of 'age factors' and 'age standards' to put all athletes, regardless of age or sex on a level playing field. In particular, they allow athletic results, no matter what their age (ie. 5yo to 100yo), to be converted to what they would expect to achieve in their prime years. This will allow a valid comparison between different ages and genders. With this app, you can effectively compare a 5yo boys athletic result with that of a 29yo Women or, in fact, that of a 99yo man.
The app will provide each individual with a converted result equal to what performance they could expect in their prime years. It will also provide a percentage value for an event, allowing them to judge their performance against the standard for their age, both now and keep track of their progress over time and different age groups. The tables were compiled by the World Masters Athletics (WMA), the world governing body for masters (Ages 30yo+) track and field, long distance running and race walking. The process involved analysis of over 20 years of actual performance data. Curves were plotted, one for each event, 'fitting' all known performances, including, for example Lynford Cristie's 9.87sec 100m, at age 33yo, and Priscilla Welsh's 2.26.31 marathon at age 42yo.
Using the Equivalents page, an athlete can see a list of theoretical results that they should expect to be able to achieve, given the returned percentage. This application works for all ages 5yo to 100yo.
