AnDOSBox for Android
Unlike DosBox Turbo, this DOS emulator managed to emulate a CD-ROM very well, so that I could run my favourite program, which needs to be fueled from CD. This gladdened me immensely. However, my air mouse doesn't work that well, and I couldn't get Win3.1 to run properly, which was easy in Turbo. (Probably I need to set some parameters correctly, which takes time to figure out.) So I have decided to use both emulators for different purposes.
You have deleted my comment how does that work. Unless you can fix the screen size problem i would like my money back thanks. Don't blame samsung for your programming.
Would like a manager so can run multiple profiles. Or add profiles to desk top shortcuts. Runs visio 4 and ms office which DB turbo fails so happy.
I did an android update on Friday, and I noticed since then the small floating circle I hit to bring up the menu is gone.the hidden buttons are there but the only buttons that work are the keyboard and hide buttons ,the menu button doesn't work.so how do I get the men now to change inputs ?
Would like a manager so can run multiple profiles. Or at profiles to desk top shortcuts.
can't use on Galaxy S5 Android 5.0 use DosBox Turbo
Finally a working version of DosBox for Android - many thanks! Runs great on Xoom. The only feature request so far is to enable scaling of image to fit screen.
Couldn't get many games to work, the few that did could not function without cursor keys...uninstalled
I still think this is the best dosbox yet seeing as how I can get it to run simcity 2000 ceaser 2 doom 2 Duke nukem 3d settlers 2 Warcraft 2 all with no issue but the onscreen controls from adosbox made my fps games much easier to play which this does not have but all my games run awesome on this version as compared to all the other dosboxes I've tried turbo gdosbox adosbox dosbox and dosbox turbo and this one definitely runs my games smoother but I have a Motorola Xoom so having a onscreen mouse in my fps games like adosbox had would be a great improvement or make it so swiping the screen forward back left and right mimick a mouse also they digital keyboard makes it impossible to change the weapons as you would with a classic keyboard and figuring out the sound setup for my games is nearly Impossible but I would gladly pay 30usd + for a version of dos or even windows 95 something that could give my Motorola Xoom the same punch a old Pentium 2mmx 233 MHz and handlibg I would pay a lot for it and I'm sure I am not the only one who would but I am going to be spreading the word for you guys you have a lot of potential and I want to see you guys really tap into it...but awesome dosbox
Best port of Dosbox I've been able to find for Android. It keeps on getting better and better!
I had an issue with the game Master of Magic running slow on my 7inch tablet (OMAP-4430 w/ 1GB RAM), and email the developer about the issue. I got a response within 3 hour of my email. After 3 or 4 correspondences back and forth within the same day, the developer was able to help me resolve the speed issue, and now MoM run at near full speed (game runs at 100% speed most of time, with minor slow down to ~75% normal speed once a while). For those of you that is also playing MoM on anDosBox, that runs a little bit slow also. Go into the dosbox.conf file in your sdcard root directory, and un-comment out the cpu cycle setting line, and change the 4000 value to 10000. Save the file, and launch anDosBox. It should run at almost perfect speed now.
Buyer beware. In order to get the virtual Dpad shown in the photos, you will have to pay an extra $2.50 for their gamekeyboard app, which makes this app practically useless unless you fork out extra money, as most dos games require the arrow keys. I cancelled my order and went with dosbox turbo which has a free gamepad addon.
If you want the virtual cursor keys shown in the photos, you have to pay $2.50 extra!! Very deceptive advertising, as practically all dos games need some type of cursor keys. I should have read the comments before buying. I tried the flit keyboard, and its unusable for gaming.
This is just a bad ripoff of dosbox turbo. Bought this one first. Bad idea. There isnt even any sound support!
Totally worth buying.
Review
I have got and use all the DOSBox ports on android and have had the most success with this one. Now they have added hardware support for mice its easily the one i would recommend first. Plenty of features and easy to set up for the beginner.
It worth every piece of money. And support is fast and good.
Playing Heretic and Screamer is painfully slow on a Galaxy S2 - shame would've thought it would rip through those titles
Had problems with Forgotten Realms Unlimited Adventures, they provided me buildable andosbox sources for debugging on first request.
Just added right mouse button support for my 3.1 tablet and keyboard... super awesome!
Love this on Asus Transformer TF101, the separate game keyboard is great and now I can play all the games quite comfortably. The mouse emulation is atrocious though. Getting the cursor to work like trackpad would be much appreciated as now if I want to move the cursor in-game I need to double tap on my trackpad to get the touchmode on only after which I'm able to move the cursor in-dosbox. Also double-clicking is just impossible. I'm hitting the screen frantically, but it seems only 1/20 attempts goes through. Using mouse controls similar to trackpad controls should do the trick. Also mouse support would be neat for tablets that support them. Fix this and 5 stars are all yours.
But... for charging for a normally open source program, and at 4 dollars, you could try a bit harder to add features that are more Android/Phone specific that don't require you to edit config settings outside of the app. Shameful really.
Asus Transformer Prime here. Of the various abandoned and active dosbox port projects on the market, this is the most up to date and compatible. The team seems to do a decent job to provide updates. Wishlist item for 5 stars: Support for a two button mouse (e.g. transformer prime trackpad/external usb mouse) in pen mode. That would make all kinds of games instantly more playable.
Being able to choose where C: is mounted and mapping hardware keys
Runs smooth
I'm very happy with purchase ,it runs games smoothly. Better then others. I'm using a droid incredible . Dos games on my phone Hell yah!
Works great. Not quite up to par with Dos Box Turbo yet but still a solid emulator.
Great app, I am a huge retro game fan, but I must say that, for me at least, DosBox Turbo is the better choice, lag was much worse with this emulator compared with DosBox Turbo while playing Master of Orion II (on Droid X).
For quite some time, this was THE android emulator in the Play Store. By now it's a bit outdated, though. DosBox Turbo has a lot more to offer feature- and performance-wise. There hasn't been a major update for almost a year, apart from simple bug-fixing releases. Some features are still up to date: mouse emulation works nicely, on-screen shortcuts (lower right corner to bring up keyboard, upper left corner to fast-forward) are quite convenient; and it's the second fastest port, miles ahead of aDOSBox, but also clearly behind DosBox Turbo. On the other hand, recent SVN features and many customization options are missing. And not only does GameKeyboard actively block DosBox Turbo, but AnDOSBox also blocks the GamePad app from DTurbo's dev, so you have to pay for GK if you want to use AnDOSBox. Not a very good business decision...
First i'd like to say that I only just recently tried Dosbox Turbo because Andosbox has never failed me. There are plenty of reviews of people bashing Andosbox because they are too cheap to buy the Gamekeyboard. I pay no attention to them because Gamekeyboard is useful for many things besides Andosbox and really deserves to be a separate paid app. Then there are those that say Dosbox Turbo is much faster...this bothered me a little bit because i would like Arena and Daggerfall to run a little faster (i've already optimized everything as much as possible). So i got the latest dosbox turbo...Is it really that much faster? It did seem to be a little faster but not by much...also doesn't seem as stable and the other problem is that their gamepad sucks and no wonder it is free. Andosbox wins overall. Both are way too slow compared to a normal desktop with dosbox. Can't really say i can enjoy Arena/Daggerfall with how sluggish they are on android. One last thing.. Right mouse click much easier to do on Andosbox which is kinda necessary for attacking in these games.
This DosBox program is easy to use. The old action platformers by Apogee play great with the optional GameKeyboard. The only thing lacking is a front-end game manager to keep individual settings for each game. Keep up the good work, Locnet!
I'm trying to play a game that uses the mouse and arrow keys on my tablet. Chose this app because it seems to have best soft mouse options. Little did I know how hard it would be to set up simple arrow keys. Ended up using gamepad beta; inexplicably, the d-pad does not work, but the buttons remapped to the d-pad keys do. Have to set it to be the default keyboard every time. and my control settings get reset every time too! Would have gotten a refund but fiddling w/settings took longer than 15 mins.
i am not using it for game but using for commercial application which the best one can handle many things but my problem i am not able to use the printer as i want to print receipt using small 2/3 inch Bluetooth / usb/ any other interface printer can any body help on this. this solve my very big problem . ......... Works, but hardware keyboard/trackpad functionality not as good as with DosBox Turbo.
Was worth upgrading my firmware for
Lacking features and compat of dosbox turbo. Some imes are blocked to make them more money as well. **Edit: The developer decided to call me a liar. I'm not purchasing anything else from them either, because customer relations matter.
When I first downloaded the app I had a lot of problems With sound. After I did some dinkin around and device reset A lot of the problems seem to correct themselves. I still have sound issues with Fallout but not a lot of the other games. My original rating was a 3 star but due to the fact that Most of it was not the programs fault but My own I have upgraded it to a 5 star. I am currently working on a fix for mouse problems now but I believe this is due to the fact that android is not detecting my mouse properly. I have only 1 request being that I am using a wireless mouse there are no correct input devices on the system that will allow me to use a mouse to click and drag. At least that I hAve found as of yet. Perhaps a way to just use the system mouse inside of the application rather than a system and a application mouse that must be balanced together. In case It Is relevant I am usIng a logItech performance Mx.

Bought this to run X-Com and was amazed at how easy it was to get the game up and running. Runs fairly slow on the Optimus V, hoping updates will fix this.
