Coeliac UK – Gluten-free app

This app should be either free or a very small pay per use should be available and not compulsory membership which you cannot do through the app. This does not support sufferers. My 6 year old son should not need to pay for membership for the rest of his life. Just imagine asking a cancer sufferer to pay for an app to access info! It wouldn't happen. Totally disgusted by this, you should be ashamed!

There are a lot of good things about this app but it is clearly a work in progress whilst the CHARITY with VOLUNTEERS does it's best to get all the information that is in the printed directory onto the app. All you people moaning should maybe offer Coeliac UK some of your time and IT skills to help them update it. People are never satisfied these days...

Don't download unless you are a member of Coeliac UK. You need (paid) membership to access any useful features (what other charity charges the people it's trying to help?). Once over that hurdle adverts obscure c. 20% of the screen (but haven't I already paid to use this?), you keep having to log in again and downloads take an age (plus it doesn't say how large they are) with a difficult to read progress bar. With membership the content is good, hence the 2 stars, but design and technical execution poor.

Each time i search for a product in the food directory i am told it doesn't exist! So infuriating as i am a paid member and the app doesn't function as it should. Needs sorting out.

The food directory dosnt down load...left it downloading over night and in the morning a tiny amount showed as having done....both apps are OK but need alot of improvement

I like this app for scan searches. What seems not to function is the search when you enter a product name. I tried Cadbury and Hot Dogs and got no results. From having the directory I know these products are listed but can't search on generic terms.

I am a paid-up member but none of the items I scanned were found inc Glutafin Pizza bases.

The directory appears to be empty and you can't download for offline either . Can you fix please...was working.

Dispite being a paid member I can't download the food and drink directory. Plus doesn't seem to find any foods I scan.

The app looks like it was designed in 2006, and it has the audacity to show ads even though I've just paid £12 for this and not all that much else.

Joined yesterday and paid the subscription fee. Food and Drink database won't download and the barcode scanner doesn't return any results.

Seems to be a very handy app. I just wish Australia had a similar one

They're meant to be a charity, this information should be available for free!

Great App

Good app. Hood for shopping. Only issue is if you download for off line searching it does not work. Just hangs as it searches. The only way to resolve us to uninstall and then use online without downloading. Please fix this big as it would be good to search in areas with no signal.

Useless app. None of the shots above are of the screens which have 20% ads. No use in a supermarket, unless lucky enough to have really good signal, and why does it keep asking me to log-on? I paid a year membership so shouldnt have to keep checking. Needs serious work and cached data.

I submitted a few different places to the venue guide but they still don't show up on the map? Also when submitting it didn't give me the option to write a description about them? Or is this something the admins do themselves after researching it?

Just a money making scheme. Have to login and pay for anything useful.

I sometimes have to log in to use the directory. Otherwise great.

Have only just got tablet so hopefully will prove very useful .

The idea is great, but sadly more often than not, a search provides a response of not found. Shame, but needs some serious work in order to make it worthwhile.

Think the app is great and the scanner and venue guide comes in very handy. Can't understand people complaining about the membership fee either as they are not government funded so how else would they be able to constantly update the food directory.

This app is invaluable to any ceoliac venturing out for something different!

Scanner only works occasionally. Most usefull thing.

Try it on the example in the screenshots (Baxters DeliPot). Scanner won't read at all, typing in the code says it's not recognised. Any other android barcode reader recognises the barcode fine. Typing the barcode number in to google returns a match for the product. Does this mean the example isn't in the database or that the app isn't interrogating the database properly? Either way, it's broken and useless. Please fix it or delete it - life is hard enough without fiddling round with this nonsense.

Rarely seems to work because it constantly freezes when trying to look up food items, so I can hardly use it. It's been "fetching content" for three days now so will definitely uninstall. Rather unreliable overall!

Lots of handy stuff on the app, but the directory search really only works best with a VERY good data signal or over wifi - I scanned a bar code while in one of my local supermarkets, and the directory search was still loading when I arrived at the check out. Had to force stop to get out of the app then too.
