MyPlate Calorie Tracker for Android
Need to be able to set macro goals by the single percentage, even fractionals to get exact macro goals. Just need to remove the 5% step in that UI panel. Not particularly needed as you can just eyeball the values but would be a nice to have. Beautifully designed app, great integration with Google Fit.
I really like this app. I've only been using it for a few days now so I haven't really seen any results in terms of weight loss but it is wonderful being able to monitor what I put into my body. My only problem is the barcode scanner. I not surprised it doesn't work for me since I'm in Iceland. It makes sense that the app doesn't have a lot of the stuff available here as I'm sure there aren't a lot of users from Iceland, but so far I've only been able to use the scanner once. I expected the app to at least have some of the imported stuff.
All in all I really like the layout of the app, it's easy to use and pretty straightforward. There's a fair amount of options and features for the app, I personally enjoy the ability to choose what time of plan you'd like to do for whatever you're trying to achieve. One issue I've come across that's really annoying is when using the add food feature. It closes out and refreshes what you were writing if you minimize the app. Which is really frustrating when you're trying to copy nutrition from online into the app. If they could fix that issue this app would be worth 5 stars to me.
It lacks basic functionality like copying meals from one day to another. The recent item list in only about 10 long and not organized. The barcode scanner doesn't work nearly as well as other apps. The calorie estimate for exercise are much different than what you find online. Too many problems for what is essentially a very simple app.
I absolutely LOVE this app! It keeps track of pretty much everything for me. The graphs to see your progress are a great plus! Also, the option to speak with other people who may be doing some of the same things you are, or struggling with the same things, helps tremendously! I HIGHLY reccomend this app! Great work devs!!!
I had begun to lose weight before using this app. I had gone from a low carb diet to a modified CICO and then I found this. Now I feel fat. And it's great. Update: Found some bugs like sometimes not being able to remove certain foods from meals. I've logged out, restarted my phone, and now I've uninstalled the app. Hopefully it'll work after this reinstall.
I love this app. It has been the best app I have found and it has helped me become aware of what and how much I was eating. It reminds me on my front page that I haven't done excercise because it says "0 calories burned" so I do some exercise and all is well.
This app is pretty good in terms of being able to track what you eat, but I'm having the same issue someone else mentioned. My calorie goal will not update when I try to adjust my goal weight and choose a calorie plan. I have the option to pick a recommeded daily calorie plan, but when I select it, my calorie goal won't update to reflect it. It gets reduced by 1,000 calories for some reason. Why is this? Pretty frustrating.
App is beautiful and functional, but as a European I really don't appreciate every food in the library being in cups. Food library is useless to me, I have to add every single thing myself in 100g "servings".
I love this app. I've used other calorie logging, weight loss type apps before but this one is the best in my opinion. It focuses not only on the calories in and out, but also the macros of protien and carbs and fat you're taking in which is so important. The app also connected to my phones step tracker which is cool to have all my activity in one place. I like that it focuses on health over weight loss and it's not overbearing in tha e way some apps try to be 10 different apps at once, ya know? Plus I use the free version and sometimes company's make the free version trash so people will upgrade it but that's not the case here thankfully. I recommend this app, for sure!
I have only had it for a few days and I can already tell that it helped me so much. I don't eat a lot of known food, so it helps that it has so many variaties that you can log. I needed this and it's the perfect app!
This app helped me lose nearly 40 pounds and get in my best shape and Dr. Recommended "ideal target weight" at 41 years old. Never again will I allow myself to get heavy! SO much more energy for hard workouts and life now! Do NOT settle for less than stepping into your own greatness! As a newly published author (Beyond ADHD), this has helped me take my mental and physical health to the next level!
Super helpful and the barcode scanner is amazing! A little difficult to use when trying to put in your own recipes but it has really helped me stay on track. One month in and already 12 pounds down!
This is a very good app. I really like how I can keep track of the calories that I am putting into me. I have lost about 22 lbs in about 4 months without doing any exercise. I plan to start working out very soon to tone up my body
As a person who works a non traditional schedule, I would like it if a day weren't defined as midnight to midnight. For me, a day is 11 am or noon to 3 or 4 am if all goes well. Sometimes later. It's hard enough to stay in shape on a late shift, it would be nice if this app could be customized for us late workers. My dinner is often at 3-5 am. But it doesn't count to my daily calories. It's hard to track when you don't get a full day of your own definition. That's my one complaint.
I really love this app and been using this for almost 2 months now. However, there are 2 bit annoying things I encountered so far. It sometimes autochanges my weight to 0.0cm making my calorie intake lower and messing up my calorie rate chart, and adding up new food closes automatically upon minimizing or changing tab. But overall, good job on this app. Looking forward for the improvements!
Horrible app. Complete waste of time downloading. Tried to enter a birthday under 18 (my kid) to help me track her diet (cause I prepare her for) and it kicked me off with a sorry you're under 18. That's right because only adults have diet restrictions. My mistake.
Won't let me register keeps saying "cannot connect to server" I have Internet and all other apps work. Disappointed
Sometimes the Google fit aspect of the app won't properly register activity. Also, the calorie calibrations compared to the machines at the gym vary a bit. Still, it's a good tool for tracking caloric intake and activity.
I've always hated food diaries, and tracking everything I consumed felt like a chore. This app, paired with Google Fit, has been an amazing experience for me. I'm so glad it's so easy to use and definitely doesn't feel like a chore.
I like the simplicity and look of the app, and in general I like how easy it is to add my own foods instead of choosing from a list. However, I am very frustrated that I can't go back and edit the nutritional information on my own foods (eg. I throw the name and calories in because I just need to get it in there, and I can't go back to add in macros or micros later).
The free version was more than adequate for my basic CICO tracking. Gone from 203 to 176 lbs, almost to the goal. Turns out I was eating too much, and MyPlate made that easy to track and quantity
Having trouble with calories burned being updated with google fit. It has just stopped working. Can anyone help? Otherwise a great app.
I'm sure this is a really good app for those who are patient and willing to waste time trying to find foods. I don't have that luxury and you can't input fractions ... I don't always eat a full cup of veggies, etc. It's not worth it to me. I'll go back to my old method of looking things up in "The Corinne T. Netzer Encyclopedia of Food Values." At least I can break it down to correct amounts being used. I set up a sheet in my Mac Numbers and keep accurate readings on daily intake of everything from breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks, and desserts (if eaten). What I want to know is how to uninstall this app.
Easy to use, has lots of foods already available & is simple to add your own foods if not. A little annoying how much it pushes the paid upgrade but that's to be expected
I really appriciated this app, it's pretty good, the only question is why it suddenly not let me change/lower my calorie-intake goal... It's progress, and that's what this app is about, correct? I'm not saying it's a horrible app, but just confused on the not being able to change my Calorie Intake Goal. But thank you for making this app so useful otherwise.
This synchs with my Google fit. Its all in one place and shows me the net calories after subtracting my calories burnt from exercise. Its great for a free app and easy to use. I like the option to scan the bar codes for nutritional information.
I wish they had more exercise listed. A lot of gym routines are not here and sane for food as well but its definitely easier than the others went through 3apps before choosing this. It also doesn't allow you to update stuff when offline
Pretty good. Only thing I'd love to see is a breakdown of minerals, vitamins, and micronutrients in the totals. Eat this much app has it but the interface is less user friendly so for now this is the best option.
This app amazes me. Its ability to search for any item's nutritional facts just by scanning the barcode - speechless. I'm learning so much more about calories and health in general. Thank you livestrong
Works well. Bar code scanner is great but only 70% complete for the foods I eat. Integrates with my phones pedometer. Works well offline. Great selection of foods, however many were badly created by thee userbase with vauge or uninteligible sizes or missing information.
Loved it. It's been helping me track my calories, and I've lost over 30 pounds. Will probably use it as long as it exists.
Only my first day of use, buy overall easy to use, I can adjust my macros, and I really like that it's not just a weight loss app and I can set weight gain to be a goal. My only problem with it is that when I input exercise the app increases my daily caloric goal. That is to say: the app equates my daily caloric goal with the net caloric gain (or loss). This means that, for example: if you are looking to maintain weight (0 net calories) on a 2000 calorie a day diet while expending 2000 calories via work, exercise, etc. the app will tell you to eat 4000 total calories a day for a net of 2000. Other than that, I've enjoyed the app so far. Doing a little math to adjust serving sizes isn't too hard and there's a great database of food and exercises to choose from.
I'm this is the ultimate app it does everything. Only had to reinstall it again as it want allowing me to delete stuff what I had previously entered. But over all its the best
This app has been GAME CHANGING for me. I love that it lets you be flexible with your goals and the reminders and capabilities are excellent. Can't recommend it enough.
So simple to track food since it's with me all the time. Reminders are helpful. Community forum is supportive. Many of my food selections are already in the app. When I do add a new food selection, it is very easy to do.
Would be five stars if it did everything I could want, and I would pay to upgrade. Tracking calories and salt is essential for me, but potassium, phosphorus and calcium as well would be ideal. What is does do it does very well, the database is huge, adding food us quick and easy, making portion adjustments is very smooth. I had connected Google fit to it bug prefer to track my own exercise instead. The ap is nearly perfect for a healthy person. Unfortunately I am not.
Love this app. It has millions of food nutritional values programed and makes it so easy to accurately count calories. I can't imagine a better app.
good for tracking food intake. I don't like how if you need to add a new food you can't leave the app before you save it because you'll have to fill it out all over again. other than that I'm pretty happy with it

Using web version for years and always missed having a good android app. This improved app is surely a wow with useful features like add + button, barcode and intuitive recent list. Just improve the search - it does not search keywords within 'my meals' and 'recent' items on app do not sync with 'frequently used' on Web version. Sometimes you lose saved items - does it say 'saved changes' too soon?
