Livescribe+ for Android
I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and this app won't connect with the Livescribe 3 pen. I get a notification to pair Bluetooth with the Livescribe 3 Pen but the pen never successfully connects with my phone. I've tried using the Livescribe help support for over an hour last night with no success. They are sending me a new pen in the mail now.
Horrible and completely unrelable!!
The pen is useless without the app and 90% of the time the app doesn't work beyond syncing with my pen. I can't access the notes or recordings I took without a serious time commitment with restarting it and my phone. I want to love my pen but this app is slowly taking all the joy out of it.
Absolutely worthless. The app is unreliable. Mine connected one time. Then, never again. You cannot record with just the pen. Use your phone's voice memo, take notes in a regular note book and save yourself lots of money and time and frustration.
1.doesn't have an automatic upload function 2. Crashes when trying to share pages, 3. Takes forever to find the pen right next to it, 4. Could have so many more useful features for the price of the pen(e.g. Recognizing anchors or bookmarks or ref to another page) . 5. I NEED to use the Android app instead of just having a native Mac one.
This app is bad on iOS, but on my Pixel C with android, it is completely unusable. Libescribe Connect can find a pen, but Livescribe+ can't used it because "location services are turned off". Where to start (besides throwing away my pen in rage)? Let's start with: There is absolutely no reason whatever that this app should require location services. Period. Requiring location services is worth 1 star. I can move on to: enabling location services doesn't fix the app. So, even if I was willing to put up with this hack, I can't. It's flat out unusable.
Was working well, now my pen is not syncing with the app. App is clunky and time consuming. The app can't seem to find my pen. Four days of notes are not showing in the app... pen is working a treat! Love the pen. The app is disgraceful. I have to take photos of my notes to upload into onenote
Very low quality software for a premium product. Pairing works only after phone reboot. Even worse: Text sometimes just disappears and cannot be recovered. Lucky if you kept the paper notes!
The current version of the app is still missing the Auto-Sync feature for OneNote and Evernote. Pair the pen using the Livescribe+ app, NOT the Livescribe Link app and you will have better luck getting your pen to connect. Order Cross 8518-4 pen refills immediately to replace the stock ink cartridge. I know this has nothing to do with the app, but you'll thank me.
I bought this pen and got stuck for 2 years dealing with syncing to IOS. They kept stating it will be on android we are working etc. They finally release to android the most unstable app and haven't updated it. Clearly they don't care about anyone but IOS. Get real. Those with ipads will eventually have pro which will have the pen. No need for paper anymore. You are digging a deep hole.
There is not support for the app, and worse for the pen. When the software crashes you might as well consider your notes gone, tech support told me that the only option i had to recover my notes is to share them with this app, yet the problem is the app, so your out of luck when it comes to recovering old data.
When it works I love it. But if it and the pen choose to crash when syncing then it becomes a 24 hour disaster!! It has me wondering if it is worth it as it is not a time saver
I can't even open the live scribe app. AlwAys crashes. I am not able to share and my pen never connects correctly with the app. I mostly just use it to record my lectures and notes.
Software loses connection with pen and only way to get the two to sync is to reinstall. Very irritating to say the least. Much preferred to echo desktop version.
I've had the system for one year as of May 2016. When I purchased, their web site said Evernote integration was coming soon. I inquired last month about when to expect Evernote integration. The response was "no official word." But they helpfully remind me that I could manually export to Evernote. Good grief! I don't have time to export 10 - 30 notes every day -- this is what the computers are supposed to do. At this point, Livescribe is a very expensive pen and paper notebook. Buyer beware. Update May 2017: Still no Android support, and no software updates since May 2016. I'd say this is now a dead product.
Since upgrading to the S7, my once lived Livescribe is an expensive paper weight. So disappointed! When it works, it's amazing and I was a huge fan.... please release an update!
I am almost too fed up to write a review, but I'd like others to avoid the pain so I'll press on. It doesn't look like the pictures, the help notes tell you what you would be able to do if you had the iOS version, which you don't... It once briefly supposedly shared my notebook with OneNote (manually, natch) however it didn't work and the functionality to share any of my notes anywhere useful has now vanished entirely, along with my hopes & dreams. Gets 1* for handwriting recognition. CS is useless too
The pen is connected at its will. The note can't be shared to my devices. The tagging of whole page show only the feeds. Too much unfulfilled promises by the company.
The app successfully records and transcribes from the pen, but after that it's quite limited. Exporting to evernote is clunky and the " share" button rarely works. Hoping for an update.
Without autosend or even send as image time is not saved with a livescribe. Feels as if they only care about Mac/iOS folks on the assumption they have more money.
I bought this product on the premise that it had onenote integration built in. This is not the case for Android users. It can only export as a pdf. Not happy at all.
The app doesn't always sync with my pen. I have to restart my cell and pair the pen. I wish that I could choose to save the notes on my SD card. Usage is killing my storage space. I miss my old pen that had it's own storage and I didn't have to carry my cell to record.
The app 'works' fine, does what it says on the tin. However it is missing important features that are present in the Apple Store version - which is not as advertized on the Livescribe site. Namely the feature missing is the ability to sync to other programs (OneNote, Evernote, etc) seamlessly. If all you want is a PDF of your notes then you are golden. But converting said PDF with Handwriting recognition does not work. If they ever update it to have all the features of the Apple version it would get a full 5.
I'm using the app on an Android device. The app is working well and as advertised. However, there is one thing that could be better: the selection of large amounts of text. The app breaks down handwritten notes into small chunks of text, or snippets. In order to turn this into editable text and copy it to the clipboard for further use in Word or a similar text editing app, you need to select each snippet individually. It appears that there is no "select all" option. So for several pages of notes, this can become a tedious and, in principle, unnecessary task. Also, it seems that the Android version has less functionality than the iOS app, which is a little disappointing. Yet, my overall experience with Livescribe+ is pretty good.
Agreed with most other comments here. If you do not have an iPhone/iPad (not sure how well it works there), don't bother with this product. PDF export is the only way to sync with, say, Evernote - despite their various scattered websites claiming Evernote syncing functionality. After a year of on and off usage, i will probably give up on the pen all together.
App crashed. Reinstalled. PENCASTS GONE. App sometimes disconnects with smartpen. Today it's not sharing pencasts. Uninstalled. Reinstalled. NOW ALL MY PENCASTS ARE GONE. WTF? The app SUCKS and without it, the pen is a StupidPen. It was an interview, you a**holes! What do I do now? HATE this. FIX IT. Going to Amazon to review there now.
Pen cast pay back goes too fast for the audio. Lacks a lot of features. There hasn't been an update for months.
Idea is awesome. Im using this for college work and i got an air bubble in the ink cartridge and accidentally shut the pen off pulling the ink cartridge out and now in order to continue my notes its gotta open a new archive book instead of my notes being all together and not confusing wish there was a way to edit and continue with notes with whats been achived it would reduce any confusion for students that run into problems like this.....what if the battery dies on someone then they have to deal with this confusion and inconvenience as well
I owned an ECHO which died after 3 yesrs. This Livescribe 3 is a great idea but has wasted many hours of my time for thd 2 days I hsve owned it. I will return for a rredfund. Worked OK for one day. Extremely unreliable Bluetooth connections. Had to do hard rest because pen would not turn off Looses connectivity every time it swiitches to sync app. Horrible experience Now doesn't sync with my IOS
What is the status for the cloud services on Android? I reallly wanna be able to have my notes on a PC without exporting in PDF. My ipad is not even compatible with the ios app so I am stuck! Please add this update!
Hi, I have the Livescribe 3 and wanted to use it primarily with Android. Coming in 2 applications (Livescribe+ and Livescribe Link for android versus iOs) is a very strange. Support for each of the 2 component vary per version of android and platform... meaning Livescribe+ might work but not Livescribe Link, rendering the whole useless. When both works, you will discover that integration with other application is missing, compared to iOs. Otherwise the pen itself is great. Because of that, I would recommend it only to people using Apple phones/tablets.
Love the livescribe 3 pro smart pen and app. Use it every day, don't know how I lived with out this before.
Not really usable for recording and saving notes and recordings. Reboot and they all disappear,
Since the recent update, the app has been stable as one would expect it.
Great!!
I received this product for free from a friend who works for LiveScribe. I really like the product, and I have found a new buddy tool for taking notes in physical form. I had some initial Bluetooth pairing issues. Looks like these are previously reported issues that I could resolve using the livescribe help forum. I'm rating the app at 3 stars because of the issues, but I loved the product itself. Also, I'm going to join the bandwagon calling for evernote integration for Android !
Sharing notebooks out on my 2nsld Gen Moto X is extremely inconsistent. Livescribe technical support suggested uninstalling and reinstalling the application and I lost all of my recording data. I could then share from the application to Evernote but two weeks later that started failing once again. Sharing is completely messed up, I don't even get the pop up to share to any external applications. Pretty irritating.
I have trouble keeping the pen synch with the app. Sometime it will memorize what I write and synch with app after connection, and sometime not. This pen and app need to work together beter. I hate the fact that it fail to connect automaticly 50% of the time if not more. Suck. Suck suck. I love the idea when it work, but this product is still not ready for consumer.
It has now been almost 12 months since the release of the Android version of this app yet the ability to send notes to Evernote has still not been provided. This is very disappointing given that Evernote integration is one of the main selling points of the Livescribe 3 smartpen. The Evernote integration function has been available in iOS version of the app for some time now. Why are Android user's being neglected?

Not sure why all the hate?? Been using my Livescribe 3 pen with my Galaxy Note 4 and Nexus 7" tablet, for over a year and it is great. Now they finally have autosync with Evernote and/or OneNote on Android, and I'm even more happier.
