A Liga Portuguesa Contra o Cancro é uma instituição de Utilidade Publica fundada em 1941. Conta com apoio de 30.000 voluntários e recebe diversos tipos de contribuições para conseguir cumprir sua missão:
- Apoio ao Doente oncológico e sua Família
- Prevenção Primária
- Prevenção Secundária
- Investigação e formação na área oncológica.

Pela evolução natural dos tempos este tipo de doença tem vindo a aumentar e torna-se necessário tomar mais medidas.
Humanização e solidariedade são os valores que guiam a atuação dos seus profissionais e voluntários.
