About Spider Remote

Spider Remote is a graphical editor and device management app for use with Line 6 Spider V guitar amplifiers.

Connect to a Spider V via a USB OTG cable to browse, download, edit and save your guitar tones.

An active connection to a Spider V amp is not required to browse and edit tones, and can be saved in the user's account.

Attention! Not all Android devices are capable of supporting USB Host mode, which is required for Spider V Remote to control the amplifier. If in doubt, third party utility apps such as “USB Host Diagnostics” can be used in order to determine USB Host mode capabilities.

KEY FEATURES

• Take command of your Spider –all 70+ amps, 104 effects, 20 speaker cabinets using 8 simultaneous guitar effects

• Remotely control Spider V device parameters
• Search thousands of user-created tones online in the Tones tab

• Share and rate tones in the cloud
• Store unlimited tones in the cloud
• Share tones via Twitter and Facebook from within Spider Remote

This freezes My S7 everytime i try to reset or turn it off after using the app! It is like it has no off feature either. My phone still thinks the spider is connected even when the app will say it isnt. The rest of it is extremely useful. The bug however, makes it very frustrating and i fear that i will lose precious data on my phone or sd card.

I tried the Line 6 Amplifi TT and the Updater would not work on my PC, meaning I could not use my Android LG phone, no interface. Now, I am trying the Spider V 120, and the Spider Remote looks great on my LG Android phone but will not connect wIth the Spider V. With the LG it connects for a few seconds. I just tried girlfriend's new Iphone, and Spider Remote does even want to go near her Apple phone. I returned the Amplifi TT two weeks ago and the Spider V 120, which I bought new yesterday, Monday, is going back to the store tomorrow, Wednesday. Sorry Line 6, I wanted to like the amp, which sounds great, but the Spider Remote App and the Line 6 Updater problems just put $850 back in my pocket

Horrific. Have gotten it to work a handful of times on four different devices - pixel xl, LG g3, galaxy s3, and nexus 7. However, it is extraordinarily buggy, and fails to connect on subsequent attempts. Extremely disappointing to see it hasn't been updated in months. This was a huge selling point for me, and it is completely worthless as is.

Update 9/18/2017. App just crashes on Android 8 rendering it useless. *Android 7*Installed on Google pixel latest Android. Bought a USB C to A otg cable and connected with a printer cable to the amp. First time running was glitching but turns out it just needed to download your presets from the amp. After about 5 mins I turned off the amp and phone and restarted both. Once connected it works flawless and with not much lag from phone to amp tone loading.

Pretty disappointing app for controlling the brand new amps we all paid big cash for as an upgrade. Not very functional. Could be way way better for controlling all the features that the amps themselves have. I had high hopes for this, and feel completely let down after selling my old line 6 amps to upgrade to this. Missing so many potential features I think alot of us upgraders expected.

Terrible app. Doesn't work. Needs to be able to work with more devices Samsung Galaxys or galaxy tabs or any Android for that matter! I am very unhappy with the app and the amp because i cannot use the editor at all.

It's broken, does not work, and the single most frustrating experience I've had with an android app. The Spider V amp would recognise that it's connected to a capable device but the app would not recognise the amp so I couldn't' use any of the functionality. It's simply not fit for purpose.

The app crashed every android device I have. Plain and simple. It's like this app was hacked together as an afterthought. It's far less painful to use the front panel of the Spider V than this.

This has terrible comparability and interface design. First off, the app looks like it was designed in 2008. Material design is the standard for Android and has been for almost three years. Please update it so it doesn't look so terrible. More importantly, however, it seems that it isn't compatible with either USB C phones or phones running Nougat. I have a Nexus 6P running Android 7.1.1 and it doesn't work with the USB C to USB B that I know works. My Spider V 120W was connected to my 6P for all of two seconds before it refused to recognize the connection. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app to no avail, and there's almost no documentation on the official help forum. I can't select any connection option besides 'Phone charges other device' and I know that the 6P is fully compatible with USB OTG and the associated Host Mode. This app just plain doesn't work and needs some significant design work and functionality refinement to make it usable even if it did work.

Is Line 6 ever going to bother giving this app an update so we can all use it properly??? Have had my spider 5 for a few months now and still Line 6 has done nothing. Pretty sad that they would treat their customers this way by offering an app none of us can use without it freezing your phone.

Great concept but terrible development, Line6! Not able to connect on any of my newer phones/tablets. However, I did get it to work with an old Galaxy S4 running Lollipop...like 2 OS's ago! Come on Line6...get it together. We pay enough for your product!

Z70%

Would be amazing if it was fully functional. Only stays connected long enough to not even load a tone onto my amp. Please fix this cause im too lazy to input the settings myself

P70%

Just crashes most of the time or doesn't control the amp... Only once in a while it will work

O70%
by O####:

Many freezes. Too bad as this app is actually needed to access all features of the spider v séries, with somewhat of an ease of use. The interface is not that great. And bugs and freezes. Well below average Mr line6& Yamaha

I hope line6 reads these reviews Mabry they will fix the app but like the rest it just don't work tried it on my lgv10 and my Samsung s2 tab and, froze them both up come on line 6 get your act together and fix it

U70%

Completely unusable on S6. Crashes and freezes phone which then requires a reset to boot up again. I'm not buying another phone or tablet just to control amp. So looks like I'm selling amp. Get your act together line 6.

Just doesn't work. The amp always says device not supported. I have a brand new LG G5. Using the cable that was supplied with the phone.

Could not connect to my Spider V 60, complete waste of time.

U70%

Full of bugs, crashes frequently. Also you have to connect via cable instead of Bluetooth. Unfortunately you are basically forced to use the app because the controls on the amp just downright suck. However, if you get the bugs fixed its an okay app

U70%

Seems to be a good app but has some bugs that tend to lock up my device. Needs some more work

Make it easier to dial your sound and share it to the tonecloud. But the share/downloading function are missing from the pc version . I don't know why ?

U70%

Can't get it to work when I plug it in it says unsupported device very frustrating

W70%

I just want it to work with my LG V10 phone and Galaxy Tab S2 and maybe my Macbook Air. Come on, you guys are smart enough to come up with these apps and amps, now lets just get them to work every time. Also my line 6 account won't let me even sign in now.

Overall this app is fantastic. I've had the occassional drop out when transferring patches but it is fun and intuitive to use.

It used to be working on some of the devices. Now it doesn't work on any of the devices.

Quite unstable and buggy. When it works it is great, which is about 25% of the time

K70%

Fast and intuitive way to explore the massive amount of functionality on offer in the amp. Occasionally forced to sign back in when saving a new preset but, otherwise, solid and easy to use.
