Het Grachtenfestival Amsterdam laat een breed publiek op een andere manier kennismaken met klassieke muziek en geeft daarbij alle ruimte aan jong toptalent op bijzondere locaties.

Het Grachtenfestival Amsterdam bestrijkt een breed spectrum en beperkt zich bewust niet tot een instrument of muzikale stroming. Door deze wijze van presenteren is er de mogelijkheid jong talent verscheidene jaren te volgen en hen een podium op maat te bieden. Het Grachtenfestival Amsterdam geeft op deze manier jaarlijks een goed beeld van Nederlands klassiek muzikaal talent en muzikale ontwikkeling van deze musici.

Gerenommeerde solisten en ensembles in ongekende combinaties stellen, geïnspireerd door een elk jaar wisselend thema, speciaal voor het festival concertprogramma's samen. Bovendien worden voorpremières gebracht van (delen uit) programma's die later in het seizoen op podia elders in het land worden uitgevoerd.

Door de combinatie van locatie en repertoire wordt klassieke muziek, uitgevoerd op hoogstaand niveau, op een laagdrempelige manier gepresenteerd. Dat is wat het Grachtenfestival uniek maakt in de wereld.

Ook het Junior Grachtenfestival, met producties voor baby's en peuters tot en met tieners, maakt deel uit van het evenement. Elk jaar worden nieuwe speellocaties toegevoegd. Veel concerten zijn gratis of tegen een lage toegangsprijs toegankelijk.

The Amsterdam Canal Festival allows a wide audience in a different way to learn about classical music and thereby gives space to young talent at special locations.

The Amsterdam Canal Festival covers a broad spectrum and does not aware of an instrument or musical flow. This method of presentation is the ability to follow young talent for several years and offer them a platform to measure. The Amsterdam Canal Festival passes this way every year a good impression of Dutch classical musical talent and musical development of these musicians.

Renowned soloists and ensembles set unprecedented combinations, inspired by a different theme each year, especially for the festival concert programs together. Additionally charged for premieres are of (parts of) programs later in the season on stages are carried out elsewhere in the country.

The Junior Canal Festival, with productions for babies and toddlers to teenagers, is part of the event. Every year new playing locations are added. Many concerts are free or available at a low price of admission.
