About Discoverer(Linda File Manager)

2008.10, first day of android market, the first version release,
Linda File Manger was the most popular file manager at that time with millions users.
For some reason, I stopped the development in the summer of 2010.
After three years, now, I still not find a beautiful, elegant file manager, most of them are ugly and heavy.
So, I'm back.
An app for the people who has a good taste
And thanks for all your support over the past five years

What are users saying about Discoverer(Linda File Manager)

S70%
by S####:

Every time I cut and paste a file, the app crashes when the paste/write operation completes.

Z70%
by Z####:

I can't get into my external SD card. If the option is there, its not user friendly.

K70%
by K####:

Nice, dude. I had a perfectly working application (Linda File Manager) able to browse folders and externals cards *and* create lovely shortcuts on tablet's desktop. With this "I'm back" update all shortcuts stopped working and the app doesn't allow to create them any more. It became the most minimalistic and primitive explorer I've ever seen. What have you done? Why?

K70%
by K####:

Have used this since cupcake but Abby if the top ten apps beat this for functionality. I like the simplicity of the ui so I hope future updates can bring functionality back.

K70%
by K####:

I've been using Linda File Manager for as long as I've been on android. Since the update to Discoverer, I've been fighting the update process to keep the original and yet discoverer finds its way back on to my devices somehow. This update has to be the most annoying thing to plague android. Nothing can stop it either, not even unlinking from market! Updates are meant for improvement.

K70%
by K####:

I'm reducing my review from five to three stars as one of the main features I used with this app was the ability to back up installed apps. I hate when an update ruins a good app...

R70%
by R####:

This has lost a lot of functionality since the big update. Or I simply haven't figured it out. How do you sort items?

K70%
by K####:

But some error with non rooted phone having no card access with lollipops version .. How to use with sd card ...?

V70%
by V####:

Much worse than it used to be. Less intuitive and annoying having to press two buttons instead of one for file navigation now if you want to go back to previous folder.

Y70%
by Y####:

Various functions no longer compatible with modern Android. Otherwise a very clean and simple interface. Hope to see an update some in the near future!

K70%
by K####:

Any chance of bringing back the option to showing the list of installed applications? I found it very useful over the years. Thank you. I also miss the ability to back up the apk file. Thank you

K70%
by K####:

I love it before update but now don't. Discoverer doesn't show how much gigabite we used and how much we can use.

K70%
by K####:

Insane navigation! No UP navigation? What about testing the app with real people? I hate this app. Uninstalling.

D70%
by D####:

Doesn't let me back up my apps anymore in case I need to revert back to an older version. This feature needs to come back as it was the thing that made Linda Manager awesome and loved by many.

Q70%
by Q####:

All of my devices using 4.4 doesn't work too well for this app anymore. I can't view properties anymore as the app crashes. Please fix this, was using LFM since 2009 :(

D70%
by D####:

Wow Linda is back and running. I had always used this app since it first came out I love it. The most important thing is the create shortcut that is awesome.

H70%
by H####:

If you try to go up from root directory you get a crash. Glad to see this app alive. Had it on my G1.

D70%
by D####:

This works better with my s4, finding my ext sd on the old Linda was a pain. But still too many clicks to get there, how about customize home page, ext sd holds way more than int. And it's what I use most

D70%
by D####:

I think this is a great app. Very simple yet striking design.. You have taste man. Anyway, where did the paste option go after copying a file or a folder?

D70%
by D####:

Just gonna take a bit of getting readjusted. I would like to see the percentage of my sdcard used.

D70%
by D####:

Linda used to create shortcut icons on my desktop. Discoverer says it does this (long press... "shortcut created") but no icon shows on the desktop. Dl'd a barebones shortcut app that works just fine with my launcher (nova launcher/cm 10.1rc2), so it can be done.

D70%
by D####:

I've always been a loyal Linda user since 2010 but what happened to LAN mode!? I love to copy through LAN sometimes, it's just more convenient. Love the fresh new look though, but please bring back LAN functionality, I have to use TotalCommander to accomplish this now and I hate TC.

N70%
by N####:

Okay. First of all, congratulations on the best looking file manager on Android. The app however is not without its issues. Vertical space is wasted too much. There is a thick title band and another directory space. Please consider merging it into one band. The bottom bar (file selection, sorting etc) behaves strangely when locations are swiped from the left. Consider moving the bottom bar to a right swipe panel (except the refresh button) and move the address bar to the bottom. Will discuss more in email.

O70%
by O####:

Sorry mate but I feel more attracted by the clean file manager. Also, on orientation change, the navigation drawer or whatever the hell that is (it should be one...) looses the onitemclicklistener.

D70%
by D####:

Still a great, lightweight file manager, but the update removed some things, hopefully temporarily, such as displaying the PWD. Also would be nice if there was a way to always display long file names, at least in details mode.

D70%
by D####:

Beautiful and simple ! But can you please change the folder icon ? The OSX one is great but we can have our own ^^ I think that the breadcrumbs bar is taking too much place. Maybe you can put it in the action bar. And the favorites should be in the navigation drawer.

D70%
by D####:

"Application manager coming soon". Well, I highly welcome it as the old Linda Application Manger crashes all the time, and discoverer had been missing this feature now for quite some time...

V70%
by V####:

Ever since the update the app force closes every time I want to move files. this version looks great but I miss the old app

X70%
by X####:

Awesome! Have been using Linda file manager since the G1... now I run it on my S4, S3, S2, Galaxy Note 10.1 - Android developer

X70%
by X####:

If only the upper bar that says 'discoverer' would be removed to allow more screen space to see list of items, it would be five star perfect. Also, it doesn't allow root functions. Despite this it is my default file explorer. I love it.

L70%
by L####:

New update significantly reduces its usefulness.. Plz change it back!

Z70%
by Z####:

Hey thanks for making Linda manager now discoverer. Just wanted to say I enjoy the new update but was thrown off at first since I had automatic updates turned on.

D70%
by D####:

It seems no one found out that devices such as Iconia B1 have a removable SD card. This app does not have the toolbar shortcut for the secondary SD card, only for the internal one. Even the Astro File Manager (which is seriously bugged) includes a shortcut for both Internal and External SD... please add it soon, the app will be great.

D70%
by D####:

Is there a reason that you cannot rename files anymore?

C70%
by C####:

By completely I mean you cant acess files on your micro SD card, only the original one in the phone

D70%
by D####:

can you please put back the feature were you can back up your apps?

V70%
by V####:

Great thanks! I almost deleted it when I couldn't find my docs on my external sd card. Then I read your instructions to swipe right or left to get the all important sidebar

F70%
by F####:

Very disappointed my phone updated this app. I use it for adding files into my apps. Now I'm searching for another app to get the job done. It says the app manager will be back in future updates but why update the app if all the features aren't ready yet?

D70%
by D####:

I like the old lay out better I'm switching to es file manager

E70%
by E####:

Can't see running programs like the previous version. It seems to be just an sd explorer now
