본교는 1995년 개교 이래 그 동안 직업교육의 산실로 많은 기능 인력을 배출하여 지역 뿐만 아니라 국가경제 발전에 크게 이바지하여 왔습니다.

2014년 산업체 수요와 취업률 제고를 위해 자동차중심에서 기계중심으로 학과를 개편하고 교명도 개명하여 변화의 새 모습으로 출발하게 되었습니다.

교육부와 고용노동부가 공동 주관하는 국가정책 과제인 산학일체형 특성화고등학교로 선정됨에 따라 기업체 요구에 바탕을 둔 NCS기반 교육과정을 구축하여 기업체 중심 현장교육이 이루어지고 있으며, 산·학·관 네트워크를 구축하여 현장실무능력을 갖춘 인재를 양성하는데 최선을 다하고 있습니다.
