LibraryThing for Android
Great for cataloguing, would be better if I could share libraries/ lists
Finally!..Thanks!
New to the app but so far delighted.
Love it! Worth the wait.
I was very excited to see a LibraryThing app. I like having direct access on my phone to my catalog. I'm disappointed, however, that they didn't format the app to display pertinent information. Acquisition and reading dates are not visible. Why? I have to choose edit to see this info. But then, the edit screen is pulled right from my desktop display. That means it is really small on my phone. This is a mobile app; please size the display appropriately. It's a nice app to have, but there needs to be some rethinking of the displays. (Hint: you could provide options for the user to choose which fields to display by default.) I'll hope to see improvements in future versions.
I'm excited that LT finally has an Android app, but it needs some work. For one, where are the tags? They appear under individual titles but not as a list of tags for browsing. Also, it's not possible to add tags when adding a book. Second, editing a book (to add a review or add tags to new titles) brings up a window of the LT website within the app, but there's no way to get out of it and back to the app without swiping it away and opening the app again (hitting lower-right back means changes aren't saved) – frustrating. Third, reviews that are links do not work as links, unlike the main website; nor can the link be highlighted to copy/paste into a browser. I'm sure there's more that needs improvement, but these are what I've noticed within the first few days.
I've waited so long for this app! Thank u librarything! Ok, couple of days later.. I love it even more. I went to upload a book into LT via the app. I was wiggling it around trying to get the scanner focused. *blip!* it already had it (correctly too!) before *I*I was ready. :) this is going to be wonderful to have at bookstores to see if I already have books before I add duplicates to my library.
Thankful that there is an official app so I can return to LT and keep track of things. Only downside so far is the barcode scanner doesn't work at all, so I'm still typing in ISBN numbers.
It's a good start, but I'm looking forward to a flurry of improvements. Here are some suggestions: Improve the bar code recognition, it doesn't read 1 in 4 bar codes. For cover photo add automatic cropping (see Office Lens for an example) For old books please recognise SBNs; Add OCR for ISBN (pre-barcode) or even title! Add quick key search for title or ISBN Speed up the search, its really slow and sometimes just hangs (never returns a result) Don't make it so hard to find the delete (if you say scanned a book twice, or the bar-code was misread)
Downloaded quickly and seamlessly linked with my LT account. Fast loading and my early attempts at scanning books to add to my library works great. Very happy with how well this app turned out!
Small app, doesn't ask for 10,000 permissions it doesn't need, doesn't presume your phone's google account is the same as your LibraryThing email... Basically, this is an mobile extension of your LT account done right.
I came back after I noticed you finally have an app for androids. It's pretty basic, but sure it will improve over time.
Horrible user interface. It feels like an Android App straight out of the Android 2.0 days. There's absolutely zero respect for Google's modern Material Design guidelines, not even for the most basic of them, which is to provide information from the very beginning. Instead, it applies the absolutely worst design ideas of yesteryear, such as: a Home screen devoid of any information, and filled instead with huge action buttons; tiny, TINY links, almost impossible to tap; tiny action buttons on information pages; lack of any sensible text formatting or flow, wasting precious screen space in scrolling tiny sized text; the omnipresent "loading" icons wherever you go; the slow, SLOW loading of cover images without any attempt at pro-active predictive loading, making scrolling through hundreds of entries an exercise in frustration; and so on and so forth. Everything in this app, apparently a simple wrapper around a badly designed mobile site, is done wrong. The best that can be said for it is that at least it exists, so there's that. But it's evident it still has a long, long way to go before it's up to the minimum standards it should have been following from the very beginning.
It is a well thought out product that is a great companion to the web based application. No more dumping out the data to a spreadsheet and using it on a small screen.
Christmas comes early this year! Very excited for The Thing; this is the ultimate companion to research and maybe a indy library.
I just downloaded this app and went thru some of it's functions. It is awesome. Fast, easy to use and intuitive. I have been waiting for this app for along time. Thanks so much.
Great app, but needs a button to directly return to the Catalog menu screen.
Love having access to my library catalog while on the run!
I've been waiting for this app for years and it does not dissapoint!
Can't logon.
Quite OK.
LibraryThing is an amazing website and this is a great app.
Been waiting 8 years for this. Very Happy.
Great app.
Finally!

Love the app so far. Glad they added the ability to move it to my external memory. The update fixed the only major issue I had with not being able to see details of my copy. Would like to be able to turn off viewing member tags, since I don't care about those. In fact it would be nice to be able to edit what details you see about a book before you click edit to get full details.
