Freegal Music

I love this app. I've been downloading 5 free songs to keep every week for a few years now with no problems at all. Sign in with your library card, & boom - legal, free, popular music. Oh, and a while back they added the ability to stream unlimited music as well. What's not to love?!

It was great, until several times after I blocked notifications it would pop up on my screen to tell me I had downloads available. Screw you, Freegal, if I don't ask, you don't need to volunteer the info. You're blocked and somehow gpu d a way to give me popup notifications anyway. Beginning to hate you.

I enjoy this app but it is a constant disappointment. It crashes, locks me out, can't count my download, and just stops working. In August, I was locked out for three weeks; because it says I need to logout and sign-in. However, it didn't present a sign-in page. Now, it says I have no downloads when I've downloaded nothing for two weeks. Deleting the app and reinstalling helps.

Freegal used to work OK for me. I could listen and download what I liked. Now it won't stream, takes a long time to load, and usually freezes. It still downloads sometimes, but with the frustrations, I just don't bother anymore, except to write this review.

Latest version regularly tells me I reached my listening limit at the start of a new week before I ever listen to anything. Very annoying. Sometimes downloads crash and you lose that download. Used to work pretty good. Would like better search with more filtering features. Other needed features: * Pause play *Auto pause play when answering calls * Seek forward/backward in song * Select genre preferences * Rate songs & artists

Used to be ok app. Now tells me over streaming limit when I haven't used it for weeks. Too many tribute bands and karaoke songs. I guess you get what you pay for but it used to be a decent app. Now, not so much...

Forced me to log out for updates -- attempted to log in again and my library is gone. It still shows on the library website (Troy, MI) but not on the app. I suppose I'm deleting the app now. Disappointing...

The app stops playing music when my phone locks. This defeats the object of a music playing app. I've tried all the appropriate settings with no success.

I cannot figure out how to stream anything. The only thing the app offers me is 30 seconds of a song, with the option to download. When it's loading I can see the option of "stream album", but when it finally loads it disappears and all I'm left with is the 30-second samples. Think I'll stick with Spotify thanks

App is difficult to use, esp with designing playlists, continuous play, starting in the middle of an album, etc. Music stops frequently for a variety of reasons. Unreliable. Hard to complain about "free" music, but this app is just that buggy and unrewarding. If this weren't free I wouldn't pay for it. And librarians tell me the Freegal people are jerk to them on the phone.

Any library system that pays into this horrible site is wasting their taxpayer's dollars. It is the worst app I've ever encountered. The music selections are so incomplete.... The search logic looks like something from a 1982 DO system. My Lord, what a waste of tiime, effort and public dollars.

Keep saying over my streaming my limit ,never used the app for days.

Truly abominable experience. Constantly crashes, retains no previous data & need to log back in.

I now have a one song stream limit per day. Reinstalling did not help. Library website still works fine though.

Ok but notification of new downloads has stopped but I have not blocked

Good app but downloading service doesn't reset properly. Reaching out to developers for clarification.

I have had this app for years and many songs downloaded. Recently got a new phone and lost all my music. Is there a way to recover them?

Really needs a visual update. It looks so outdated!

Really limited app - full version is only thing that really works.

Mostly won't load data and when it does it behaves erratically.

Decent app a lot of choices but at the same time not a lot at all. Should add more newer songs

It is really good

Perfect for music on the go. Great service from my library.

Love it great for it being free

It works. That's the best thing I can say about it. The interface is pretty awful. Finding the music you want could be easier, and there are no player controls, so you can't pause the music or skip forwards and backwards through the playlist. Furthermore, if you lose your connection for any reason then whatever song/album you're listening to will restart from the beginning, and there's no way to start an album in the middle and have it play through to the end. Finally, some albums have songs missing; depending on the album, it can be a substantial number of tracks. But, whatever, it's free music. The web version of Freegal is much better (except for the missing tracks).

Fantastic app. Works smoothly and let's me discover new music easily through my local library which is great! The only thing which would take it from fantastic to PERFECT is an updated interface! Everything else is awesome, it's just the interface is a little dated and could use a revamp. Thanks!

I have used this app to build my library. But I like oldies. It has worked great on my Google tablet & phone. On my iPad it Freegal app wouldnt mesh with my iTunes songs. Didnt like that. Google they do.

It won't let me search for songs

When I open the app now it just keeps telling me it needs to update, please log out and log back in. Yet in the play store it's up to date. Any suggestions?

Latest update won't allow me to search for songs. I guess as long as I just want the most popular songs I'm good! Before that, it worked just ok. Could use a major revamp including remembering whether or not you've previously downloaded a song, a "wish list" functionality, better streaming options (that don't crash all the time), etc.
