De route verbindt diverse historische locaties en verhalen om zo de nagedachtenis aan de Tweede Wereldoorlog levend te houden.

Gelderland province is part of the international commemoration Route Liberation Route Europe, which runs from southern England, through France, Belgium, Netherlands and Germany, all the way to Poland. The route connects several historical sites and stories in order to keep alive the memory of the Second World War.
