LG Smart Refrigerator

Download it and says that I need another app, then the new app say it only works for phones and not tablet!!!! Basically it does not work!

Looks like it could be a great app, but it won't connect to wifi after I sign in, i choose my network and all it ever says is unable to connect to network. How about you guys fix these issues?

Just got the fridge today, can't get the frig to connect, not sure if it's a fridge issue or app issue. Yet refrig is broadcasting as an open, unsecured wireless access point.

Same issue as everyone else with the sync and monitoring. The food tracking part of the app still works, but that's based on manual inputs.

The look and feel of This app brings me back to my first Android phone. I couldn't get the app to work. The ssids don't show in the app. The"registration" account is different than what I used to register the app. I can see why the sales people don't mention my fridge as "smart" because the app is really dumb.

Don't buy LG if you want a connected refrigerator. The GE application (other house new fridge) worked great.. connected and configured easily. This has to be a major embarrassment to LG. Too bad.. really like the fridge.

Can't connect to WiFi no matter how many times I try. In the search no names pop up. Just have to guess which is yours and when try to connect. FAIL!! Any ideas? Would love to know

A year later.... Crashes all the time. Awful. 1 star now. Great idea, very poor execution. Not ready for prime time. Formatting issues galore and syncing problems render this useless.

Absolutely zero help on this. I see my refrigerator on my network but this app does not connect to it and the instruction manual for the fridge is useless.

Wow what's going on here? A company this large and you can't fix the app or frig? Same problem over and over for most people.

App requires to connect to a WiFi network, but doesn't show the networks in the range. Hence can't control refrigerator.

I tried and tried and tried all day to get this to connect. It won't connect to my Wi-Fi or to the Wi-Fi on the fridge. What's the point of having this feature?

And it sets up the refrigerator as a wireless router. Useless.

Stopped working all of a sudden. May be related to Android Marshmallow that I recently upgraded to. Says "Cannot Sync. Please check REF/SMP network connection."

This app seems to be essentially unusable in its current state. It used to work, but not anymore. I still get push notifications if someone turns on Ice Plus or has the door open too long, but trying to access the app returns nothing but ""Cannot Sync. Please check REF/SMP network connection."

Doesn't seem to play nicely with Android. There is clearly a connection because if I turn on Ice Plus on the Fridge, i get the push notificatoin to my phone. but the App will NOT let me get into the Refrigerator Manager. I get the "Cannot Sync. Please check REF/SMP network connection." Please Fix This!!!!

Great app. Notice lots of value complaints. I had them also. Could not get app to work. Finally got an LG tech to show him. He agreed. He replaced the "control board" on the front of the refrig and the app still did not work. He then ordered a "main board" that fits in the back of the refrig. THE APP NOW WORKS PERFECTLY fine. It is not in the design of the app. It has to do with a bad main board. Was told that these boards are now on a 3 week backlog, so someone in LG must have figured it out and some consumers must have had these boards replaced. And I noticed that some are saying they get error message REF/SMP. You need to make sure that you connect the refrig wifi to your HOME network not the LG wifi that comes up on your phone or tablet. EVERYTHING works great now. Took perseverance. Call the Alabama Service Center, not the Korea one.

Let's not call this the LG Smart Refrigerator with such a poorly written app that won't run. Tired of seeing the "won't sync" message that others have complained about. Please fix this bug or change the name to LG Refrigerator.

I am having the same issue everyone else is reporting. The fridge connected initially, despite some quirkiness with the wifi setup (when looking for a wifi it did not have the SSID names of the available networks, so I had to guess which one was mine). Today, I went into the app, and cannot get it to connect to my fridge. Each time it gives the following error: "Cannot Sync. Please check REF/SMP network connection." LG, please login to the Android Play Store, read the reviews, and make the fixes (and reply to the reviews).

Wasted an hour. Not only will it not connect, it inactivated my wifi to the Samsung S6. The freezer is defrosted while the temperature setting reads -4 degrees. Perhaps LG is monitoring these very low ratings and will come to our rescue. It is 3 months old! Luckily it's from Costco!

Won't connect to my WiFi network (just 802.11g, nothing special). Sits at "connecting" after my password is entered. Nexus 5x running 6.0

App formatting is screwed up and won't let me select a wireless network. I have to manually enter the network. The app then connects to the network about 1/4 of the time I try. I can't get it to connect with the fridge correctly at all. It sometimes straight up hangs and crashes the app. I have tried this on 2 different android devices (1plus1 + zoom) and also an iphone 6, none work.

Does not work! Simple as that.

Don't waste your time even trying to get it to connect. Life's Good, the App's BAD!

Not only did it not work it was a pain to set up an account and then when I tried to get it to connect to my refrigerator it cut off my network link and I then had to disconnect and reconnect to get the wi-fi back. LGs apps don't work for me.

Worked fine for months then upgraded my Nexus 5 to Marshmallow and app somewhat works except for WiFi diagnosis.

Can't even register with the app. Both Thinq and LGs website are a broken, security hazardous mess. - I registered with LG online, then tried logging into Thinq, which works on the desktop in IE (and only IE) yet gives an incorrect password error on Android 5.1. Serious LG, what the hell. If you are hiring, email me. You obviously need new developers. You'd expect better after spend $3k on a fridge. - By the way, nice security hazard sending passwords in plain text.
