Il Veneto nella Grande Guerra

La terribile vicenda che ha sconvolto l’Europa e il mondo intero tra il 1914 e il 1918 ha visto queste terre trasformate in tragici scenari di guerra, lasciando tracce profonde che hanno segnato il territorio così come la storia e la comune memoria della gente veneta.
Il ricordo è indelebile. Il teatro degli eventi è ancora oggi diffuso di testimonianze, forti, trincee, postazioni, strade e sentieri, cimiteri, ossari, sacrari e monumenti ai caduti: un tessuto di forme e di opere ancora oggi evidenti, che ci invitano, dopo un secolo, a riflettere su ciò che è accaduto, affermando fondamentali valori umani e civili, di pace, collaborazione e dialogo tra i popoli.
La circostanza commemorativa data dal centenario della Grande Guerra ha ispirato un’azione ampia e condivisa da parte dell’Amministrazione Pubblica, che ha voluto interpretarne in questo senso lo spirito e il significato. La Regione del Veneto ha avviato un complesso programma di iniziative in occasione dell’anniversario, in parte rivolte alla pianificazione e al coordinamento di interventi conservativi sulle vestigia della Grande Guerra, e in parte mirate alla valorizzazione di quei beni, attraverso varie attività culturali, che permettono di far conoscere e capire meglio le vicende, aiutando a tenere vivo il ricordo.
In questo programma si inserisce la pubblicazione che qui si presenta, dedicata in gran parte all’approfondimento di un aspetto storico particolare, quello della vita nelle ‘città al fronte’ e degli effetti che la guerra ebbe sulla popolazione civile, una delle linee indicate come prioritarie nel programma regionale. L’iniziativa, che è stata preceduta da seminari e conferenze, vuole appunto rendere conto di come la gente reagì alle terribili vicende belliche, con momenti ed episodi di grande umanità, germogliati in uno scenario di morte e devastazione.
È lo stesso spirito che ha mosso il programma regionale, nella convinzione che commemorare e rievocare per la generazione di oggi serva soprattutto a saper cogliere i segni del passato, in modo da trasmetterli con i loro valori a chi verrà dopo di noi.

Regione del Veneto The terrible story that shocked Europe and the world between 1914 and 1918 saw these lands turned into tragic situations of war, leaving deep scars that marked the area as well as the history and common memory of the Veneto people.
The memory is indelible. The events of the theater is still widespread evidence, forts, trenches, stations, roads and footpaths, cemeteries, ossuaries, shrines and memorials: a web of forms and still evident today works that invite us, after a century, to reflect on what happened, stating basic human and civil values, peace, cooperation and dialogue between peoples.
The fact commemorative date from the centenary of the Great War has inspired action wide and shared by the Public Administration, which wanted to interpret in this sense the spirit and meaning. The Veneto Region has initiated a series of complex program on the occasion of the anniversary, in part aimed at the planning and coordination of conservation work on the remains of the Great War, and partly aimed at the enhancement of those assets through various cultural activities, allow for better awareness and better understanding of the events, helping to keep alive the memory.
This program is part of the publication presented here, dedicated in large part to the deepening of a particular historical aspect, that of life in the 'cities to the front' and the effect the war had on the civilian population, one of the specified routes as priority in the regional program. The initiative, which was preceded by seminars and conferences, wants precisely to account for how people reacted to the terrible events of war, with moments and episodes of great humanity, sprouted in a scenario of death and devastation.
It is the same spirit that has moved the regional program, in the belief that commemorate and recall for today's generation is used primarily for knowing how to read the signs of the past, in order to transmit them with their values ​​to those who come after us.
