What are users saying about BluOS Controller

M70%
by M####:

Controller App is very poor given the cost and quality of the equipment. The manufacturers ought to work harder on the programming as they don't even supply an alternative, remote control unit. They ought to realise that many users will be listening to classical music. Pop music filing systems do not work with classical music. It would be much easier to find music if users were offered alphabetical list alternatives to the enormous buttons, over which there is no size control.

M70%
by M####:

Scrolling through lists is laggy, navigation appears to be done through Activities instead of Fragments like it should be, and there are many ambiguous buttons/symbols that don't make much sense. Overall very bad quality app. Given the cost and quality of the speaker(s) I would expect that more time and effort would have been put into its development.

M70%
by M####:

laggy and poor updates generally make it worse. Could be really good but needs work.

M70%
by M####:

The updates have caused numerous issues. They need to get their players, apps, and vault working more stable.

Z70%
by Z####:

Recent update has huge performance issues in navigating through library, very slow loading, hopefully a fix will be released soon.

P70%
by P####:

Probably the worst app I have on my phone right now.

M70%
by M####:

With the latest update I can no longer use my optical input source...

Sucks for Android. Has only connected once to my Vault 2. Tried it a 100 times

Fantastic. Works very well with my PowerNode 2 and B&W speakers

Not perfect, but very good.

Works well.

Ok for an app

are quick to respond through the forum (at least to acknowledge issues... A fix may take a touch longer) the app works fine for me as I use my node 2 purely as a streamer using service from Tidal, the node 2 completely unfolds mqa files. I have no music data filed elsewhere to be catalogued and retrieved, access to all playlist is fast and faultless for me, continues to improve with updates

H70%
by H####:

Recently the app has greatly improved. A simple change, which makes a huge difference in ease of use, is the indication of the format on the cover images (before it was difficult to identify high res content). Only gripe with version 2.12.0 is that Tidal playlist descriptions are no longer visible.

Latest update is very good! But those sandwich buttons on the right edge are quite tricky to activate. I would suggest push and hold instead.

X70%
by X####:

Hmm. The last version was better. Try looking at 'new' cds in portrait mode and you only see the last two. Even in landscape mode the number of new items is limited. Since new is my first port of call thi s i s just a backwards step...

This is great with the exception of amazon music. It's a real shame that they missed including it. Lyrics would be a nice to have but certainly no deal breaker. I'm so pleased with the quality of the kit I'm buying one to attatch to the oppo 205. Grrrrrrrrreat

UPDATE - 1:The physical volume button on the phone only works when the screen is awake AND unlocked which is quite annoying. 2: An option to search exclusively within tracks of given bitrate/filetype etc is missing. 3: Pressing the "next track" button in the notification area and even within the app often does not work(!!). 4: within Spotify when using SpotifyConnect the Bluesound does not wake up on first attempt. I have to select the output twice or even three times before I can start playing.

I'm very sorry, but this app is very un-intuïtive and works really, really bad together with tidal. Actually i cancelled my subscription with them because of the bad bluOS app integration. Furthem I'm not sure if it's bec of tidal of because of bluOS if I'm scrolling through lists and checking albums and then go back to the list i start back on top. It's really annoying and keeps me from looking further.

M70%
by M####:

Not a bad app but the integration with Deezer is broken (flow and "radios" not working). Spotify works from native app. Great to control network shares.

Great app, beautiful design, fluid, responsive and no glitches! On Android! Who knew! Roon Labs are you listening? Kudos for the design team !

Had this for two years. Never had any problems on any of my devices.

Best sound you can get for money, but: App and web interface are poorly documented and unintuitive. Speaker collects user data (opt out is hard to find). A lot of security issues in the operating system of the speaker (distributor in Germany informed - no reaction). GPL violations in BlueOS. I think you can do better. Looking forward to hear from you. Regards Hark

App has improved since my last review below. Upgraded to 4 star. Everytime I use the app, I either have to delete the app data or reinstall the app. That is the only way that it finds my Node 2. Very annoying.

Similar to my fellow Bluesound customers I have many issues unresolved. At first I got good customer service but now I can't get accurate (resolving) answers and have received dropped contact threads essentially ignoring me. I hate to dis a provider but if they read these they may get on the stick. And now ... when prompted by BluOS controller dialog box to update I go to the site and it won't allow me to do so. So sad. All the best to you guys, Brad I still have hope.

I have had this for about 2 years when I first Got it It took me about 3 hours to set up on computer for the server. The annoying thing about it was when my computer went in sleep mode the bluos would quit communicating. Not thr bluos fault when i upgraded to Windows 10 it quit communicating. Went and bought a external hard drive absolutely fixed those issues.never have had a issue with network dropping friends come over all they need to due is download app connect to network snd they can play any song on their phone.

Constantly having to reload app. Driving me nuts. My friends say their Sonos doesn't have these problems. Hard to argue.

This APP will work on any Apple device I have ,but not on my Android phone's or Tablet , Come on Bluesound you must fix this , just tried the newest version of this App an it;s still a no go ! Very disappointing!!!!! Update Just installed the latest version of the APP again no issues on Apple devices tired on 2 different Android devices and will NOT WORK !!!!!! I am thoroughly disgusted ! Good news to report the APP no works on my Android devices thanks to great support from the Blueos team ! Great after customer service !!!!!!!!

Keeps on failing. Constant timeouts and lost connection. The only suggestion from their support team is to get a new router. It great when it works which is about 50% of the time....

M70%
by M####:

Can be frustrating when players are not detected even after reset of either my powernode or mobile device or both. When it works it works good. But when it doesn't it is maddening. Needs polish to bump up to 5 stars.

M70%

If this is a sister company of NAD then they better catch up quickly. Clearly NAD is a great hardware company and Bluesound might also be this, but in the digital music arena , software is half the battle.

I have parted with £1200 for the vault and the pulse speaker after quite some deliberation and am astounded at how bad the app is.The sound system itself is amazing but continued lag and resetting of the system has had me close to asking for a refund.I am still suffering

M70%

No problems at all.. although could get tidal to list mqa media. Love it all the same

Great technology in the physical products, severely let down by troublesome app. Since the update had to reinstall app on phone twice for it to work. But so far, still can't get kindle fire to reconnect despite multiple download attempts. Online support and diagnostics through the app don't connect either, just return a msg "no information available".

Whenever the player is switched off or router is switched off ,the player dissapears from the app... have to re install it everytime... currently have a android samsung j7 2016 model phone.... and a dlink d-615 router. This is a major deal breaker from an otheriwsr superb device.

I really like the app. I only have a single Node 2 but this app works well and is improving all the time. I miss the play all songs random menu option that has disappeared - I know it is now supposed to be available by some combination of choices in songs but I can't work it out, it was simple before, why remove it!. Also, it would be good if on entering a search category such as artist or album it returned to your last search position rather than the start - just a nice to have. Otherwise keep up the good
