A great app for daily drills. However there's room for improvement. The writing is very sensitive, which is fine but the sets are so bulky, it makes it really tedious. I recommend breaking them up into, for example, just an m's section and r's section instead of m r y all together to make it more manageable. There should also be an option to choose your own sets, so you can works on jus ones you're having trouble with & a review section to show stroke order. It would make the app so much more user friendly.

I love it. I've mainly just used the flash card aspect of it so far, but that is great. I was learning the first five hiragana from videos before I got this, then when I used it, I noticed it was using the first fifteen kana, and that worried me a bit. However, I just plugged away at it, and while I made some mistakes at the beginning, I'm now pretty accurate. I've learned to recognize the first 30 kana fairly reliably, and I just installed it two days ago. The only suggestion I can make is for the author to incorporate different renditions of the kana, because they sometimes look different enough in other printed material to throw me off. For example, with sa, sometimes there are two strokes for the looping bit at the bottom, but this program uses the unbroken stroke style. It's much like how, with Roman characters, 'a' and 'g' can look much different depending on the font.

Really great app. Great way to learn. Couldn't ask for better. Have about 30 learn japanese apps and this is one of the best. Free and no ads is a bonus, tho it should have something where I could pay because I would be glad to give a little money.

This app is awesome if you have a basic understanding of hiragana. Some people are complaining about the fact that it doesn't teach you beforehand. There's this magical thing called triak and error, if you don't know it guess you biscuit. Once you find the answer remember it and you'll learn. Sometimes you have to find your answer through guessing and thats fine. I've been using this app for 2 days, 2 hours a day, and have mastered vowels "k", "n" and "y" and I'm improving drastically. Awesome app ♡♡

I never review apps, but this app was so helpful that I felt like I had to rate it. This is the only tool I've used so far for learning hiragana without any prior knowledge of the Japanese language. After using it in my spare time this past week I can already recognise all the hiragana on sight and draw several of them.

It actually uses spaced learning, choosing items based on progress and errors. That coupled with well designed exercises and three learning methods (choose, write, and read) makes this a learning science marvel. It's well paced, grouping and limiting new material. Using different fonts is good for familiarity. However... There are inconsistencies, like the different symbols for "sa" between "choose" and "write." also, needs a way to "finish" items, restart exercises, and limit items in an exercise yourself.

I tried at least ten apps practicing kana, this is so far the best. yes it doesn't have a built-in kana table, but that's no big issue. the writing test is great. BTW there is a small issue in the English translation, missing a 'd' in "souns t, n &h"

If you're looking to learn hiragana with no prior experience I do not suggest this app. You'd have to know some of them beforehand and it doesn't give you lessons explaining the characters but if you're looking for practice then this is a wonderful app.

I love this app. I'm actually learning and remembering. Only thing that's off is the writing tool. It let's me start a line but instantly cuts it off and fails me. No matter what I try to do it won't let me draw anything but a tiny line. Other than that amazing app

This app is great for beginners such as myself. It would be nice to have the option of disabling the audio for writing romanji. When you enter your answer for writing romanji it plays the pronunciation for the answer at the same time the next hiragana shows up as if its the pronunciation for the next character rather than the previose one you just answered. Other than that its helped a lot to memorize hirigana.

I love this app! It's exactly what I've been looking for! I have been studying hiragana online forever, and this actually taught me! It teaches you the pronunciation and the writing, it teaches you the romanji, and it teaches you how to write the characters!!! One thing though. I wish it had a screen that shows you the characters and pronunciation before you start the quizzes, but other than that I absolutely love it!!!

I've tried every app for learning Hiragana that I could find and this one has, by far, the best writing detection system. It truly does teach you how to write each character as it gradually removes the tracing guide as you learn. It could be improved with an options tab that would let you manually reset your progress with each lesson or let you choose which individual characters to practice. But as is, I highly recommend it. Also, I would recommend using a good quality stylus with this app.

It is by far the best method I have tried. I only apply myself here and there, with weeks off between sessions. I find my long term retentio has been greatly improved with this app.

This app would be great if it didn't quiz you without lesson. It expects you to know the strokes of each character without lesson. It expects you to be able to pick out the characters from a group of four without having any way of knowing what they could be unless you go through the tediousness of the strokes quizzes. There are plenty of better apps.

Practicing writing was exactly what I was looking for. However, the app is fussy about perfectly matching their implementation, so if your handwriting doesn't perfectly match the (poor) handwriting of the creator or you don't start in the same place (very difficult to do, thin kana seem randomly positioned) you won't progress.

This app is just the best, i can remember Hiragana now! And soon Katakana! But i just want to report something, in the Hiragana app, you wrote "Souns" instead of "Sounds" for t, n &h. You misspelled the word, its not really a big deal, but please change it so it will look better... Thanks

This is a great app for learning how to write in Hir( forgot how to spell it :p) not for learning, just so you know. One thing I would add is when your learning how to write the letters to have it listed or numbered on which comes first.

Simple, easy, and strigaht forward. Pair it with physically writting your kanas and you should get it down in about 2 to 3 months. A very normal time table. The voices are a bit robotic, but remeber thats not why your here.

I downloaded this app a few days ago and I already have a pretty good hiragana vocabulary. I only wish that when drawing the hiragana you were not expected to do each one perfectly, and that they had a full hiragana chart you could touch for easy viewing.

This is a great app for memorizing ひらがな, I like how the app will repeat characters that you get wrong. Doesn't take long to learn the whole hiragana system, because of the way the app is composed to assist in memorization.

So cool. If you're up for a challenge learn one section per day and it's easy. Do a few minutes several times a day. This app is so good!

I've tried a lot of different methods for learning hiragana, but this has been the easiest so far. The only thing keeping it from 5 stars is some hiragana characters seem to be missing from the "write in romanji" section. Also when you exit the app in the middle of the write in section, the on screen keyboard stays up on the screen.

this is actually really good !! it helped me learn hiragana pretty easily, even though i messed up a couple times :)

It took me 3 weeks with this app and some self-made writing exercises and I can now read hiragana!! I had no knowledge of hiragana before these 3 weeks. This app is amazingly good. I do wish there was a a tab with every letter that you could open up and study, but you can't get everything :-) 5/5 - Excellent!

Its the perfect way to study and learn honestly!!! Only suggestion button I have is an "oops" button. So many times I've accidently tapped the screen before i have any chance to correctly answer the ones I know! Some might abuse the button, I know, but I think it'd prob be useful for those who aim to get all green on each section in order to feel like its successfully learned enough. (:

Great app which makes it easy to learn Hiragana, but the writing part is difficult because it's marked wrong even if the writing is off by even a little bit.

X70%
by X####:

Please do something about the "Write in Hiragana", you have no idea how tough it is to follow the lines even on a 5.5 inch phone when even the slightest miss makes you repeat the entire thing again, it's really hard to advance when you fail on hiragana you easily learnt but you keep missing them because the entire thing is unresponsive as hell.

I installed MANY apps but this is the only one that does SOUND to Hiragana. Romanji is at best a crutch and at worst an extra conversation your brain doesn't need to learn. This app is HARD! But when you learn Hiragana here you'll be able to use it in real life.

As others have mentioned, when tracing/drawing the Kana it can be very particular - and if you don't do it very precisley you fail. However I found that in making me redo hiragana that I 'already knew' it reinforced the kana and I actually learnt quicker. Making it easier wouldn't help you learn! The multiple choice kana selection is very good, and determines which ones you are weakest with and brings it up more often. Very recommended

I think an option to quiz with only sounds and symbols would be a nice touch, you know? Like, be able to take away how it says "ka" "su" "a" ect. at the top.

It feels like a test before the lesson. Am I just supposed to guess the right one? People who don't know hiragana do NOT use this.

X70%

It's great and almost perfect. Got through all lessons in a week. I'd pay for it if there was an option. The only things I'd like to see are: final lesson with all characters, and a more user friendly writing (of course an empty entry and "see" are not correct - typing mistakes should not be counted)

Really easy to just pick up and start learning. The repetition is great really makes sure you know it. Would reccomend to anyone starting to learn hiragana!!

S70%
by S####:

My suggestion would be, when you choose the right answers in "choose the hiragana", pause the game for a couple of seconds, or a "tap to continue" option, so you can properly identify the symbol. This would help because most of the times I would choose the right answer by luck and in the next turn I couldn't remember which one it was. Another suggestion would be to change the aesthetics, because the app looks a little bland, but that's not important.
