Gibson Learn & Master Guitar for Android
Gibson is proud to introduce the Gibson App for the Android, a multi-purpose and fully interactive guitar application featuring a Standard and Traditional Chromatic Tuner, Metronome, Chord Chart, Lessons from Gibson's Learn & Master Guitar, and much more. Best of all it's FREE.
* This application is currently not compatible with some Samsung Galaxy devices. Sorry for the inconvenience, we hope to have a solution soon.
The tuner is ofset to the left on mine and the metronome goes haywire if you so much as look at it funny. The lessons are great though. Will change my review to 5 stars if these problems are addressed and fixed.
But I don't know, does not work on my HP Slate7. Metronome looses its mind every time I open it, no matter what the BPM is set to it ticks like a cracked out woodpecker. And the tuner needle is way off (The actual tuner is on the far left of the screen and the needle is on the far right). But the chords and the lessons work fine
Graphics all screwed. I know its free but if u want any hope of selling the paid for version it would be expected by users that you would get this app right first
Useless, needle just sits there. Everyoneis better off getting gStrings for tuning and Chords! for every chord.
This app will not even stay open 10 sec on my sidekick 4g! Dont download waste of space
Metronome bounces out of time rapidly and randomly. Tuner also very laggy. Hmm. Gibson fan. Such a shame. Really wanted to like this app.
I liked this app a lot in my previous android Galaxy S II Skyrocket but I'm disappointed with it in the S III 'cause it doesn't tune the guitar and doesn't match. Please fix this! I used to love this app but now, I don't know...
Looks like it's not designed for the tablet. On the tuner screen, the needle of the tuner doesn't line up with the numbers. On the guitar-head screen, the buttons don't line up with the tuner keys so it's not possible to choose which sting you want to tune. That being said the tuner still works, the metronome works, and the chord chart works. The app could be really nice if they fixed the display bugs.
The app is great, especially tuner function is a lifesaver for beginners like me. But it has some UI defects on Galaxy Nexus. The needle of the tuner is off scale. You somehow manage to understand it from the green light but needle is nuts. It is the same for metronome's needle. If the needle is worked out, app would be much better.
On my Acer Iconia A500 tablet (Android 3.2 Honeycomb) it has horizontal alignment issues with some of the graphics. For example the metronome tempo wheel spans across the entire screen. It must have something to do with the use on tablets vs phones. There are other similar issues. Overall good but the cosmetic sloppy development isn't inline with the Gibson brand.
Fast and ok Tuner, usefull metronome, some chords if you're searching for some it's a quick reference... Some video lessons in there, but the tuner and metronome are what you'll be using the most. I look at it as 3 apps into one. Tuner, Metronome and Chord Library. For the price can't complain ;) Suggestion for future updates... add a SCALE library ;)
Seems like a good app, but I can't do anything on here. Every time I get on this app it stops working, no force close or nothing. It just freeze. I would like to have this app as my main app, but there are too many other apps that are working so.....plz fix.
I own the full version but could accomplish much more if I could be doing my lessons via my phone or tablet. My laptop went down; can't play the DVDs. Workshops and not all lessons available online. Otherwise, five star program.
This would be a great app if all the lessons and stuff was actually in the app instead of having to go to YouTube and watch them, so why have the app if you can go straight to YouTube to get the lessons without having to go through another app first. Don't make much sense to me but I'm just one person. Played music all my life but don't understand this.
Half the time the needle appears stuck, unresponsive. This app is very inaccurate, giving a different reading each time the same string is sounded. I expected better from Gibson. Shame.
Asus transformer. Screen handling is poor. Managed to get first video open but now cannot get back to select the 2nd. Seems I am now lost in You tube. When I saw the Gibson name I really hoped it was going to be good. I'd even pay for it if it worked!
This used to be a great app. But with the latest android updates most functionality is broken and not working. It's basically useless now. Can't believe there has been no updates to resolve this... Anyone even looking?
Overall I like the app. But metronome needs fixed. I am using a Samsung Rugby Pro. When I start the app and go to the metronome and started, it works fine, but if I try to adjust the tempo while is running, it goes crazy and no matter if I srop it it does the same rhing. To properly use it, I close rhe app, or force close it. Reopen it and set the tempo I need and leave it alone. But is annoying if you are practicing with different tempos.
This thing looks like an amateur coded it. Super slow, graphics errors, the tuner needle is all over the place... Gnex. 1 star until fixed.
I used this have this on my iPhone and it was really good. This port is barely worth the download... it's fuzzy, poorly aligned and generally disappointing . What a shame... the app is pretty good when it's working like it was first designed. Not a good port I'm afraid...
Really disappointed. This is a horrible app. Couldn't get any of the features to work properly. The search is on for a good app that's functional. It would also help if you updated it once in a while to keep up with the fast paced changes in technology. Hint hint.
Definition of idiocy: samsung owners who keep trying this app after hundreds complain it doesn't work. Duh. Droid x fine so far.
Galaxy Note 8: The tuner doesn't work. It's completely unresponsive to my touch screen. Then out of nowhere, it will play one arbitrary note & keep playing it until I exit the app. Also, I have to re-set the mode every time I've exited the app and then opened it again. It doesn't save what I've set. Even for free, this app is just not worth it.
Metronome doesntnwork IF you adjust it at all (Samsung tablet). It just bounces all over like a geiger counter even if set to 1 BPM. Tuner is just plain weird to work with though I like that it provides for alternate key tuning. Its been hit and kiss getting the lessons to show, seems I need an excellent wifi signal to make it work well. Overall not very happy with this, made worse by the fact that it comes from THE guitar maker.
I started learning guitar with this app just over a week ago. I went from nothing to making vast improvements and I've only watched four lessons.
Tuner is awesome. Excellent all around. Every guitar player should check it out. And it works on my samsung galaxy proclaim even though it said it didnt work on samsung galaxy.
Its so good for beginers and works good on samsung galaxy grand quattro
Metronome is fairly advanced. However simply changing metronome on the run kills it completely so you have to restart the app. Pretty obvious bug....
Don't use the Iphone design on the android. Bad. Also you should really place views properly on the screen. And if you want to cut of the galaxy users, do it through the manifest, not as a star in the description. We don't read descriptions and now you are getting bad reviews. On a galaxy Nexus. Oh, and do not put commercials in my face. Two stars for the content. Zero stars for implementation.
I would give 5 stars if app would still load
Worst guitar app I have ever downloaded. I really disappointed as I love my sg so much.
Only thing useful is the metronome which is limited to common time signatures. The lessons jump from section to section and is not the full range of lessons. Hence the adverts for the DVD. The style of teaching is for absolute beginners..it's slow and at parts confusing the way it's taught. The chord list is only a sample. Best advice: buy a chord book, a pitch pipe and search online for lessons. UNINSTALLED
This is a great app for any guitar player... My father do have a gibson les paul 1960... I played the guitar for almost 3 years now and I think this is a great app for anyone who is serios about guitar playing Regards ltjr
I have been playing for some time. I also had this app on my I phone. My girl is wanting to learn and this app just the tool she needs to get her off my back for a bit. It is a great tool for beginner and a professional alike. Great app for anyone with the intrest.
Wat?i got the first lesson video but for the second part when i opened it it said this video is private pls help ill give a five star if u will thank u so much
I love the lessons. actually got me started on guitar playing plus in-built tuner is good. double thumbs up! m a fan nw..gr8 app N1
So a complete waste of time installing it... However, Hopefully they will fix the bugs, why does it have to be Iphone every time, they truly and I mean this friends suck!
App starts and runs for about 1 second. Meter tips slightly to the right and then it locks up for about 5 seconds and then it closes.
Well, everything works great but I'm not quiet sure if the tuner is correct. I love the chords though..

I had this application installed in my HTC Inspire 4G and it looked awesome. Now that I switched to a Samsung Galaxy S3 it really sucks. The tuner and the metronome needles don't display correctly. Unfortunately, I read previous reviews by other Galaxy S3 owners having the same problem and judging by the dates they were posted I came to the conclusion that Gibson is not going to fix it.
