Minnesota State Fair

Zoom! This app has failed for years without a zoom in/out function on the map. I use this only to find the new foods/beers to try, then use the paper map they give you at the fair entrances. An intuitive map will make this go from 1 star to 5 stars.

I've downloaded and tested this app the last 5 years. It was outdated and useless in 2012, and is nothing more than a joke now. There is a reason why there are more 1 star reviews than 4 or 5 star. I really hope Minnesota State fair invests in a real company to create a real app.

VERY poor map feature. The "fun" section of the app lists events from days earlier with no ability to sort to today's events other than to scroll through an incredibly long list. It also lacks any information about parking or shuttle bus options. The app just seems to be lacking a great deal of features and polish that it reasonably should have.

The fact that almost every review says the same things and they haven't made the changes in years is just sad. Needs a much better map, should have options to rate each food option that way you can sort based on reviews. It's almost a good for nothing app.

My original review was 2012. 2017 NOTHING has changed in terms of quality of this app. Does anyone from the Fair look at these reviews? So slow...would have been so much easier to be able to look at paper brochure. Only thing I ended up using it for was the "you are here" tag on the map. Other wise, even to search a map, I looked at the full view paper map more.

An embarrassment. Do fair organizers really think this is an adequate app?? Echoing almost every other reviewer, map needs to have a zoom and all-direction scrolling feature. There have been no changes to this app in the 3 years I've downloaded. How shameful for the 2nd largest state fair in the country.

Can't zoom map, can barely scroll across map, can't find vendors on map, can only search by exact vendor name, can't jump to specific day/time so you have to scroll for literally minutes to get to the current time for entertainment schedule, doesn't use GPS. Basically completely useless app. Could be soooo much better.

Doesn't do anything to replace the paper brochures. Map is pointless if it doesn't zoom out. I agree, make it more intelligent and it will be very helpful for navigating...gps, current day events, etc. Nice to have but isn't really necessary.

Worst app ever. So basic. So frustrating. Doesn't even tell you what it costs to go there or where to buy tickets. Can't even zoom the map in/out. Embarrassing for the State Fair and whoever developed it.

Installs fine. Once it's launched it tells me that it has updated info and asks me if I want to download it. I say yes, it says "downloading data" and then it says "updating database...." and just sits there for hours. Why is this not working? Fix your app Fair folks....

Works fine on android and updated right away. A bit clunky, but a good way to bookmark events and food locations. The big issue is zooming in and out on the map. We want to see more of the map, so zooming, in and out would be so helpful.

Whoever maintains this app should be ashamed of themselves and stop working on apps. The map is junk, can't zoom and difficult to scroll. The GPS showed your position in previous version, now it doesn't. This app should be known as the Great Minnesota Disappoint.

What is this? This app is useless. I can just look up a list of new fair foods to try and find them with Google, ever heard of it?

App is worthless. Just gets stuck on "updating database" screen. Untill the state fair gets some at least mildly competent app developers on board, just stick to the paper map for a more intuitive experience.

Non-intuitive and clunky. Why can't we zoom the map out? Searching is too strict to find what you need, event times & schedules aren't clear across multiple days, etc etc. Same trouble for years now.

2017-No improvement. Looking it over this year, I realize how weak it is. Too bad this doesn't use gps to locate your position and show you what is near, more useful that alphabetical. It is just a brochure in electronic form, nothing value added. 2014-While this app does give information about the State Fair, on day 12 you have to look through the first 11 days to get to the information. Hopefully next year the development team will have it so current information will be easily accessible.

It's not much better than a physical map. With all the millions of profit the fair makes every year, this is the best they can do?

Worthless app. Ended up using a browser with the online map so we could zoom in and out. Couldn't find anything specific due to it's lack of a search option either. The dev did try to fake us out by displaying a magnifying glass at the top which should take you to a search box, but when pressed takes you to static lists you can filter and read through. Lazy web design.

How can the map be so bad? Can't zoom out. And it'd be amazing if you could have the starred locations show up on it but I guess just get the zoom feature added first. I guess it takes years

Need to work on functionality. Search engine is not great. Want to see new stuff as top things to look at and concerts for the day

This app hasn't really changed at all since first entering Google Play. The map is terrible, you cannot zoom in or out, the scrolling only works going four directions (no diagonal scrolling), and if you want to switch directions while scrolling you have to lift your fingers off the screen. These may seem like minor issues, but these have been here since the beginning. I previously was willing to overlook these things, but I will no longer do so. This app needs a serious overhaul to be of any use.

Still sucks...uninstalled it right away...wish I had read reviews first and known they hadn't fixed the map yet..wouldn't have even bothered. Why can't you just make it so you can zoom in and out??!!

Still can't zoom out map, this has been requested by reviewers since this app originally came out, meaning they've had years to fix this issue. Also, you can't scroll diagonally on the map. Just vertical and horizontal. Really annoying considering their apple app has a pretty good map.

2017 - Once again this app fails on every level. Who hired this app designer? It feels like someone gave the job to a relative who took one course in school and needed the work. If this is a professional company in the business of creating and designing apps, I am surprised they are even still in business. This leads me to believe that there are three possible explanations for this level of ineptitude. One, the app designer has a long term contract to design this app and feels no need to improve it since there are no consequences for putting out a terrible product. Two, the app designer is completely unqualified and lacks the necessary skills to improve the app. Three, the app designer has never been to the MN State Fair and has no idea how to make the app relevant and useful. I would suggest a boycott of all other apps made by this designer but I couldn't find any. That just reinforces the feeling that whoever makes this app has no cred, no skill, and no business designing an app for one of the best events in the country. 2016 - Antiquated design and interface. The map is permanently zoomed in making it impossible to use. This app is only marginally useful if you already know what you are looking for. If you are a new or long absent fair-goer this app is basically useless. Same as last year.

Possibly the worst app I've ever used. Slow, map neither zooms nor shows you your location. Selected POIs are not decernable from the surrounding map. Basically awful

Useful although map zoom feature only seems to work on Iphone (tried on another device). Features are handy, especially to find food with GPS. It can't be that hard to add zooming for android guys!

Still a terrible map. Luckily there's a better map available...

App lags, is not very useful. Defaulting back to the paper map. No zoom. No search for what's around you. It's really an embarrassment for a fair of this size.

Lack of zoom out function makes map worthless. This day of technology you would think it could show you where you are as well. But no.

C'mon, man. We have the best state fair in the country. We should have the best app. Start by making the map zoomable! Then work on the search functions so we can look up specific foods, not vendors of foods. App creators, please get a legacy grant from the state and put people to work creating a better app!

It's simple, yet the big issue is zooming on to the map. We want to see more of the map, so zooming, in and out would be a nice addition.

The drop down Buttons need to be bigger! After eating cheese curds my sodium puffed fingers cannot work the tiny buttons!

Why can't the map zoom out? That's pretty critical functionality, and the app is pretty useless without that feature.

This app is inferior compared to the map produced by geopoi LLC.

Clunky to navigate. Not interesting to come back to everyday. How bout filling all of that empty space with daily updates on what's going on with the fair. All this is a search and find service. It should have a real time Google map to help you find your way. This ap is worthless
