About Lassy Project

When it comes to a missing person, every second counts. Lassy Project is a free service that gives parents and guardians the ability to notify an entire local community about their missing child or at-risk adult in seconds.

With the single push of a button that sends a text alert, parents and guardians can mobilize a trusted group of family, friends and neighbors immediately to help with their search. This group of community members is called their “network” and they are the most important asset users have if a loved one goes missing. Together, we are helping to bring missing people home through the power of our communities.

The Inspiration:

On October 5, 2012, our Colorado community was rocked by the abduction and murder of a 10-year old girl who had dreams of being a cheerleader in junior high school and loved the color purple. Jessica Ridgeway was taken on her way to school and the community still grapples with the tragedy.

This nightmare for the community resulted in something positive, it sparked Lassy Project, which honors Jessica’s memory every day by building safer communities, protecting children and by combining social impact and technology.

Why We’re Different:

We are creating the world’s largest network of community members that reinforce safety. Our technology gives parents the power to alert their communities and form an instant search and rescue party.

Make an Impact, Join Today:

In honor of Jessica and the thousands of other missing children around the world, we ask that you become a part of Lassy Project and support our efforts to protect our children and build safe communities. Join the Lassy Project for free today!

Note: Preserving Battery Life
We have updated the Lassy Project app and you can now pause the tracking mode of your child’s phone whenever you are with them and have no need for tracking. If a user forgets to hit the switch to resume tracking, the system will automatically turn back on and resume tracking after 24 hours of pausing.

What’s new
- Grow your Lassy Village: Hand-select family, friends and trusted neighbors and add them to your own personal Lassy Village.
- View the growth of your village and join other’s villages.
- Add child profiles: Create a profile for each child that is shared with the Lassy Village if ever needed.
- Escalations for missing children: If you believe that your child is missing you can escalate the situation by sending an alert to your Lassy Village.

I got this app when it first came out and loved it. But ever since the updates it hasn't worked. I never get alerts anymore. Very disappointing!! Still don't get any notifications. Is it going to work ever?

I didn't want to give this a bad rating because the project is so important. However, after installing it, I signed up just fine, but since then it crashes repeatedly. I've got a Samsung Galaxy s5. If there's anything I can do to help troubleshoot, please feel free to email me at mwarner430 at Gmail dot com and I will do what I can. I really do hope you get this fixed though. Heard about it on Darkness Radio and it's absolutely fantastic and an excellent example of how technology can make the world better.

Unfortunately I found out about this app due to the missing/murdered Madyson in Santa Cruz. I immediately downloaded it and for past day it will not even open on my android Galaxy S5. Please allow android users this access otherwise it limits the regions you can alert. Thank you

I heard this from KFI and the way they were telling how much more helpful it is and you can find your family from kids to adults that might be elderly, it's good to see people helping each other and together we could help one another be safe. I may not have kids but I don't wish to hear the news of someone's child went missing.. now let's help that family and all family's sorry I don't mean to ramble just have a good feeling about this app.

Why are people complaining that they don't get any alerts anymore? You don't want alerts of missing children, that's a good thing!

I don't know people here so I'm not sure how it will help me. Also, it crashed a lot during setup which was frustrating. Seems to be fine now. Not sure if it was my phone or what.

There is no reason why everyone should not have this app downloaded. My child is grown and on his own. Every unfortunate parent who's had to experience their own child as missing would certainly appreciate and encourage everyone to be armed with an app like this. You never know when and to whom it will happen but I'd be happy to help out and locate if I could. I wish you happy endings with this, devs.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and I downloaded the app, but unfortunately had to uninstall it. The app constantly crashes on me. Can't go from one option to the next without it shutting down. Please try to update this fix as soon as possible. Thanks

So I'm excited to see how this works, but what Im worry about is what if the person signing up is a predator? Say your kid goes off course, you escalate, they just went somewhere else and someone sees this and grabs them?

my heart goes out to the family that lost the kid. however, this isn't going to be better, it will become a clusterf some kid drops or leaves phone and you got 100's of people searching, or you get final confirmation from the cops and by that time have lost the edge. not to mention any predator with a smart phone which is all of them now days can join up as a villager in a heart beat. No one knows me here and I signed up in a flash and would now be given info to the next lost kid in my area. Sorry to burst your bubble but this will soon be outlawed by law inforcement in many cities as it won't help and only harm.

This is a great concept. The app is relatively new so it still has some bugs to work out. For example I was getting notifications at 2 o'clock in the morning that my children were in different areas and they weThere are also times when the app is active on both my phone and my childs phone but it does not notify me where they are. I have to uninstall the app on either phone and reinstall it to get it to work but other than that this is the most amazing concept I have ever heard of and I will continue to it!

It's just great knowing I can make even a small difference in my community with this app. Met the founder and I completely trust in the capabilities of the lassey project and it's everyday use in children's lives

Y70%

Poor quality UI and it keeps my GPS on 24/7, draining battery. There's no reason for any app to always have it on.

S70%
by S####:

I don't even have kids but I watch the news and can't help but think of how many children are abducted with a GPS enabled smart phone right in their pocket! Predators cannot see just any random child's location because they don't show up unless the parent actually sends out an alert which means they've already been taken. Plus, if 1000 good samaritans use this app for every 1 predator, there will be nowhere to hide. I hope law enforcement dispatch centers are able to download this app.
