HRV, paced breathing and cardiac coherence
With Kardia, you can practice heart rate variability (HRV) training through paced breathing. By breathing at a specific rate, around 5.5 cycles/min, your HRV increases and becomes regular. This state is known as cardiac coherence, or cardio-respiratory coherence. Many scientific studies have demonstrated that it has beneficial effects on stress and anxiety level, blood pressure, depression and sleep.

The best breathing rate is different for everyone. With Kardia, you can set very precisely the exercise frequency, so you will just need a few tries to find out the value that gives you the best results.

I wish that the settings would stay as you put them in between sessions. I constantly have to change the sound back to my preferred one from "choir". Also, the only sounds that are easy to follow are "claves" and "ocean" and I wish there were more options. This app does really help me relax and fall back asleep when I have anxiety.

Great for just what I needed.

Using it regularly for more than a year.

This app isn't user friendly at first, and reading the instructions is key (which is contrary to the way in which most apps work these days). Once you get it, the flexibility is great. What would be most appreciated is to be able to save profiles. For example, in the mornings, I want to be relaxed but energized, so 6 cycles per minute is good. But in later in the day, I'm at 4.5 cycles per minute to chill out. I'd like to save the settings, along with sounds and colours, instead of calibrating each time.

I bought the full version to be able to manage my breathing e excuses as ik wished, as the advertisement let think. Well quite frankly I don't see much difference between the free and full version. A waste of money really

D70%

Its stupid that you have to buy it to get all the setting

Can't really get the hang of how to use it and wish everything wasn't premium so I uninstalled

Sometimes the timer is difficult to adjust. Instead of minutes I get hours. It may be that adding maintain and retain breath might also help and still maintain cardiac coherence. Do I get updates? It would be neat if there was a icon to click to direct me to sites so to read on on going cardiac coherence research.

My doctor recommended I work on my breathing to help alleviate stress and anxiety. I especially like the you can change the tone to something you find most pleasant (another app I tried only beeped which was kind of jarring when trying to chill.) Also, love the ability to fine tune the timing, etc.

I really like having all of the options for color, sound, rate, and ratio that are available. It was worth the small price of the premium app to be able to use to guide my breathing exercises, as I do them specifically to increase my heart-rate variability to help with my PTSD and anxiety. It's very helpful!

This is a great app and is so user friendly. You can adjust the speed of the breath and even vary the speed of the exhalation versus the inhalation. You get choices of colors which correlate to the Chakra colors and the sounds or no sound at all. You can adjust the time to one minute or thirty or more. Very usable app.

It would be wonderful if I could set the breathing animation to work as a screen saver. This way I am reminded to work on my breathing any time I take a look at my phone.

Z70%
by Z####:

I like that this is a visual way to guide your breathing. The sounds are great too. Like others, would also like option for holding breath in between and would then give 5 stars. Thanks.

I would like to understand more on how to use the breathing rates, how to get the most benifits and how to set it.

Z70%
by Z####:

A great way to help my anxiety for where ever i am. I definitely recomend this

I70%

How about making a variety of see sounds, including breath in and out? And how about making the shape so it crops a picture that the user chooses , ie Mandala that the circle would reveal and hide?

W70%
by W####:

Is there a hold your breath in between inhale and exhale for the breathing timer

Z70%
by Z####:

Great app. Would be even better if it could work with a locked screen.
