About USB OTG File Manager for Nexus

USB OTG File Manager for Nexus allows you to open and copy files from any USB mass storage device with a FAT32 or NTFS filesystem using the USB OTG port of your device, tablet or phone.

With a FAT32 filesystem, you can copy files to any USB mass storage device and manage your files on it (edit filenames, add directories, delete files) too.
You can also manage your files in the internal memory of your device.

This application has been designed for Nexus products which have an USB "OnTheGo" port, as the Nexus 5, Nexus 7 and Nexus 10, and the brand new Nexus 6 and Nexus 9. But it could work on any device with an USB OTG port Under Android 4.0 or later, including the last Android 5.0 Lollipop.

Root privileges are NOT necessary!

For now, FAT32 filesystem is supported for data read and write, and NTFS filesystem is only supported for data read. You can use USB sticks or SD card readers with any compatible USB OTG cable.

*** NEW FEATURE ***

You can now play playlists (m3u and m3u8 files) and multiple audio files (mp3, aac, m4a, flac, ogg and wav files) at the same time from your USB OTG mass storage device. For that, you need to install my new app Simple Music Player which exists in two versions:
- Free version: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kyuudroid.simplemusicplayer.free
- Paid version to support my developments and get some additional features in the future:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kyuudroid.simplemusicplayer

Once Simple Music Player is installed, select the files you want to play on your USB device, push the open button and select the Simple Music Player app.
This is a brand new feature, so if you have any issue, don't hesitate to send me an e-mail! Your feedback would be appreciated too.

*** FEATURES ***

USB OTG File Manager for Nexus allows you to open your files directly from your USB device! You just need to have an app that can handle it. For audio and video, I advise you to use VLC.
The new Network Access authorization is only here for local use to be able to open the files. The app NEVER send or receive data to/from Internet.

USB OTG File Manager for Nexus supports devices with multiple logical units (like a GPS with an internal memory and an additional SD card) and allows you to choose which logical unit you want to read.

USB OTG File Manager for Nexus now includes an "Advanced Mode" which allows you to access to all the files of your device. You can now create files and directories outside of the official Android public directories. This is for advanced users only!

Before buying this application, please try the free trial version named USB OTG File Manager Trial for Nexus to be sure that this application is working with your USB devices.

What are users saying about USB OTG File Manager for Nexus

There is no comfortable format to view items such as photos that I want to select to transfer. It is extremely annoying to go through hundreds of photos that way. I expected a much better format.

Y70%
by Y####:

Piece of crap said it was compatible until I installed it and paid for it then it said it was incompatible. Don't waste your money on this

K70%
by K####:

Instead of 150 , 200 was deducted. Doesn't look safe..dnt provide card details in here.

K70%

It's not supporting my Nexus 5x .. can u help me how to do it?!

This app is very convenient for managing photo backup from my Nexus 5x while away from data connections.

Works - simply and very well on Nexus 5 and also on Asus tablet TF201.

K70%

I am not able to open the videos in MX player.

K70%

Tried a dozen usb otg file managers. None of them worked. Decided to try this one and it works perfectly.

K70%
by K####:

..on my Nexus 5x, it's the easiest way I've found to access my OTG USB drive. Thanks!

M70%
by M####:

This is a great app I tried it after first trying a couple others and not liking their interface this is simple and clean and easy to use

D70%
by D####:

After trying several apps for managing files on USB otg flash drives, I believe this is the best one. The UI is very pleasant and easy to navigate. This is also the only USB otg file manager I've found that shows you how much used/free space the connected device has. There are a few other USB otg file managers that are free but they have annoying ads and don't tell you how much free space you have. If you want to manage files on your USB otg device without root, this app is well worth the price.

T70%
by T####:

Have used app a good while with no problems until last update. I can't play many mp3 and m4a files on the simple music player. Using nexus 7 and asus memo 7 tablets

T70%
by T####:

Tried copy multiple files but the count was different at destination as compared to source. Cannot trust anymore on the app. Would expect the refund. I am using Nexus 5

T70%
by T####:

I have no problem transfering any file from my external hard disk and usb to phone, but i can't play video files avi,mp4,vlc etc...

I70%
by I####:

Temperamental, after copying 4 files to a USB Stick, some were 0 byte files, they seemed to copy over fine without any errors but when read on another device they were corrupted.

T70%
by T####:

After copy to usb, the files become corrupted and unreable.

T70%
by T####:

I will not play any video files outside of the .mp4 I wish I was more on the line of a more powerful vlc player. Sad. Don't buy. There's a lot of other free versions out here.

A70%
by A####:

This is one of the few apps that work on the Samsung note3. Works best when rooted.

T70%
by T####:

Very slow in file transfer, crashes on Lollipop 5.1.1

N70%
by N####:

Hi I am unable to open picture which Is on card. It saying 'No app Present'.

T70%
by T####:

It's just awesome

T70%
by T####:

You can't copy large numbers of files simultaneously. The app crashes or they get corrupted. I have to copy in small groups of 20 or so and that really sucks. Nexus Media Importer is much more reliable for large copy jobs and backups. Nexus 5.

T70%
by T####:

Are you able to provide a preview of what is being stored between the thumbdrive and phone. Have to keep remembering the file name on what has been stored and what not. Also a cut and paste option will be great rather then just copy and paste.

L70%
by L####:

Can't we cut & paste files within the otg folders??

T70%
by T####:

Works perfectly on my Nexus 6P, root is not needed. I can copy/paste either direction from the phone to the SD card, or vice versa. I don't understand why file manager apps can't do this, but the interface here is super easy to use and being that most people will only plug in an SD card to transfer some stuff off their phone and then uplug the SD card, this app is perfect for that.

T70%
by T####:

Most other apps wouldn't do this.

Z70%
by Z####:

Does what it is supposed to.

J70%
by J####:

When copying a large amount of data it misses files. I would have lost a lot of information if it wasn't for my cloud back ups. Worst paid app ever....

T70%
by T####:

Application doesnt work with multiples file, i try to copy over 600 pics to a Sandisk dual, stop and many files missing and the ones who copy are 0kb

E70%

Will only mount one drive at a time. Don't bother if you have a hub.

App looks nice but it does not work / lags a lot...

I can see all my files and copy them to and from my device but I can't play .mp4 videos from the USB stick (which is why I got the app) I'm using vlc to open the .mp4 my memory stick is FAT32 format it's a 32Gb SanDisk Cruzer Blade. Strangely it can open .mp3 music and .jpg images????????? Any help?? P.s. any one else having this problem.

Does what it should. Clean and simple. I've always been upset that devices with OTG support have no clean file management app. I don't know why it's only being labeled as a Nexus app when it works great on my Xperia Z3v. Developers could probably make a lot more money marketing it as an OTG app for all devices since it's the best one of all the rest by far.

W70%
by W####:

Fantastic....it works....I'm so pleased after finding an app that delivers. Well done and thanks.

M70%

Since the latest update the app has stopped recognizing my flash drive. I always use the same flash so the problem is not in quality of the device. It used to work properly, but now when I tap the connect button it says: "No valid FAT32 or NTFS partition has been found on your USB device. ERROR_07" I've also tried to format the flash drive and change it from FAT32 to NTFS but it didn't work. My phone is Nexus 5. Hope you'll offer the right solution for this ussue.

M70%
by M####:

I was able to copy a showbox download in mp4 format off my phone onto the USB and am now watching it via my ps3. This makes the lack of an SD slot on my Nexus 5 a moot point now. Happy. Happy. Happy.

T70%
by T####:

Although i cannot play mkv, mp4 movies directly from my usb thru vlc, bsfree, mx player etc. It just force closes. I hope for this to be resolved soon because the last update i can play the movies. Now it no longer works. Hope to have a reply from the devs
