ROM Manager (Premium) for Android
Paid for the full app. Paid for clockworkmod touch. Now it's asking me to pay again? WTF? I've tried several different avenues to contact the developer but to no avail. Total BS.
Web connect feature which is mentioned everywhere on the internet has no option or mention in the app at all. ROMs never successfully download from the interface. No support from the developers. Maybe something like this was needed 3 years ago but in 2013 anyone can grab their ROM from xda and easily reboot into recovery.
It is sad that the good developer does not care to support the users. Paid for touch mod and app does not accept the license (0 Star). Many are complaining on the licensing problem. The app is very useful for those who wants to experiment with rooting (5 Stars)
Needs work on the update capability of the app on the CM 10.1 ROM. I know that there are updates for the nightly builds, but I have to use the Cyan Delta to update the nightly ROM because ROM Manager tells me that their isn't one. Still a nice app to have.
After I download the ROM to update, it says "reboot and install." It then fails to install on reboot saying it "can't find the ROM." I had to go and move the ROM to a different directory, then I had to install it by hand. Very disappointed and this appears to have been a waste of money.
I must say that the money you pay for a premium key for ROM Manager is well worth spending if you flash a lot of different ROMs or simply a lot of flashing. It makes everything simple and easy. Not to mention, ClockWork Touch gets installed and, therefore, puts less focus on the volume control for scrolling around. Do you think you will put this purchase to good use?
A two star rating for this great app is absolutely not correct, because I believe it is really great stuff. Unfortunately I can proof it, because the flashing of the recovery doesn't work (tried it many time in many ways), so all other functions are not usable at this point. I wish the autor would answer my messages asking for help. Would like to give five stars and / or donate again, but.....
A must have app if you root your Android device. Premium isn't about ROM downloads, it's about supporting the developer of this app. No ROM's in the premium section has nothing to do with Koush it has everything to do with the development community, if there is no ROM for your phone you could always go to XDA forums and use the flash from SD option. XDA is also a good place for your FAQ's on your SPECIFIC phone, since they have sections for each phone!
I purchased this app and the touch upgrade in may of 2012. Loved it until i switched phones and tried to install touch again. Its asking for another $1.99 after I've already paid. The developer doesn't respond to email and it seems like I'm not the only one he's ignoring. I'm moving to support TWRP, maybe next time I upgrade I'll try again.
Don't work on all evos 4g, 3d, sensation etc not work on samsung galaxy s and all sII. 90% brick your phone. I WANT MY REFUND..... No lo compres no funcionA NO HACE NINGUN BACK UP Y PUEDE ARUINAR TU CELULAR. 90% VAS A TENER PROBLEEEMAS. MUCHO CUIDADOO....
I stopped using this app for a while because I liked delta updates which were not available, and I found a preference for TWRP. +Koushik Dutta listened to input like that from us users and added delta functionality and TWRP support. He has also been working a lot lately on fixing the UI so now is the time to try it again if you gave up on it before. Cons: no yachts? One star :-P
When I purchased this app years ago, I thought it was amazing. Now, I only use it for backing up and restoring. Cyanogenmod nightly builds have been removed for the most part. If you do happen to see one, you'll most likely receive a "Rom download error". I can't remember the last time I was actually able to download a rom with this app.
It is easier to boot into clockworkmod. But, paying for this I would expect it to play nice with ROMs downloaded from another site. There aren't many choices in the app download section itself for att roms. That being said I am a new user and probably not doing it right.
I purchased this app shortly after release. Likewise, I used the in-app purchase of CWM Touch shortly after it came available. I had recently been using TWRP but decided to give CWM another go. Upon attempting to re-install CWM Touch, I was prompted to pay again. Instead, I tried to reach out to Koush (ClockworkMod) via email with no responses despite repeated attempts. The app is great. The premium features are great, but maybe over priced now (I think it was much cheaper when I bought it). The support, at least purchase and order support, is completely absent.
Could not provide me with latest Clockwork recovery update. When backuping with the current one I could not move the file or even view it with any other program that room manager and only had 3 options: delete, rename and restore. The backup file completely filled up my device storage, which caused errors all over the place.. Was forced to delete the backup file. Atrocious!
This use to be a great app now as all it does is ask me to repurchase and reinstall the clockwork mod recovery which I have already purchased and installed. I tried to flash the recovery awhile back when it asked and it installed the non touch version and jacked things up. Going to uninstall this sucker again.
These people don't do anything else than asking for more money. This app has not been updated for the past 3 years or more which means all the new devices can not be updated, but they ask for more money. I can't understand how they get those plus rate because nothing about that app is good for the new devices.
The touch recovery is nice and always gets the job done. The app isn't so great, the latest ROMs are not always updated in the download section and I don't think there is an option to set up zips to flash in order like ie: ROM, gapps, kernel, mod or whatever.
After purchasing premium i still see ads popping up. Downloading Flash ClockMod recovery touch never works; error downloading... When I click on check for ROM updates; it kept saying buy premium. I have the premium!!! I am pretty shock at the support for this app. Very misleading. Reported!
Iam so happy with this app, it is simply amazing. I just got the note 2 and i am in canada so there was no multiwindow capabilities. i really wanted it but i was too scared to put in a new rom (never rooted or put any custom roms). i came accross this app and i couldnt believe how easy the process was. simply put the .zip file on the phone, click a button in the app, and the entire process is taken care of. the app backs up your old rom, pts the new one, and if you have any add ons you can add them at any time so simply. DEFINITLY A MUST FOR ANY NEWBS OR ANYONE WANTING TO CHANGE ROMS. BUY THE PREMIUM ITS WORTH IT
No matter what ROM I try, the app WILL NOT download...always says there's a download error. Flashes new recovery and reboots to recovery fine, but that's really not what I purchased this for. Where's the functionality? Verizon Galaxy S3, stock with root.
The best rom manager made, nice custom recovery too! Great on my rooted nexus..works to to perfection with cyanogen mod. People complaining about no support might wanna try searching forums for answers.... This app works fine, it's user error for sure!
The facts: * The export function of the backups does not work. You only get partial and corrupt backups. * It is definitely not obvious that after paying 5$ you still have to pay another 2$ for the Touch Recovery. That's ridiculous.
Well, what can I say its an excellent app, but its so limited. The download ROMs button would be such a huge feature, except there was only one ROM to choose from and it didn't work... Had to sideload cm11. Technically speaking, this app is nothing, clockwork recovery is everything... But I don't mind paying a few bucks to buy into the ecosystem. Works well for a glorified reset button.
HTC Amaze (Ruby): Backups don't work. Device reboots into clockwork to perform backup. Backup fails to complete. Sent 4 or 5 emails to developer, no reply. Sent tweet to developer, no reply. Developer too busy to reply to customers. Great app, poor support!
Great way to backup, update & install roms. I thought I would get all available features like updating to cwm touch recovery but nope it says I have to pay another fee! Will rate 5 stars if I got all future updates & features.
Great software, makes flashing nightlies easy as a lamb. I do have one gripe, I don't like the constant advertising for the developers other software (much of which I have purchased already). Premium version should be ad free, or at least an opt out.
I think other projects have deprecated this app. Between TWRP, Cyangen Delta and Cyanogenmod's built in updater the developer can make more by not reinventing the wheel.
Since Cyanogenmod has no more nightlies, this app is totally worthless for the Evo. It doesn't even show as a premium rom. Other then this its a good app. Just not worth the money now! To bad there aren't many premium roms :(
Not sure why I paid for this when I have not received any updates to the app in over three months. Also there are no updates for latest roms such as cyanogenmod nightlies. Wasted money on this. Do not recommend. Developer - what are your intentions with this app? Thanks
I see a lot of ppl mad about cwm touch recovery.. I own this app and ROM TOOLBOX.. ROM TOOLBOX has all the recoveries on one list.. cwm recovery and cwm TOUCH recovery as well.. and all twrp recoveries.. compatible with your device.. great way to switch from twrp to cwm if one recommend for a rom..... check it out.. support them as well has a bunch of root apps in one..
I bought this mostly to support the developer. The reason I give this one star is because of CWMR Touch. Its already stupid that you have to pay for it, but every time I update or flash a new recover it wants me to pay AGAIN for touch. I emailed the developer and never received a response.
Web connect feature which is mentioned everywhere on the internet has no option or mention in the app at all. ROMs never successfully download from the interface. No support from the developers. Maybe something like this was needed 3 years ago but in 2013 anyone can grab their ROM from xda and easily reboot into recovery.
This was five star, but now only one or two. Why do you now require me to wave dead chickens and perform arcane adb rituals to copy a backup straight to the computer? Thank you for making me feel like wasting my money. It also doesn't help that my premium license installs on my Nexus 7 just fine but does not actually register the product. Thanks, guy.
It is sad that the good developer does not care to support the users. Paid for touch mod and app does not accept the license (0 Star). Many are complaining on the licensing problem. The app is very useful for those who wants to experiment with rooting (5 Stars)
Use to work great. As of today: 02-08-14 i am unable to download any ROM. All i get is a message "ROM Download Error" . Don't know what the problem is just get that message. I tried several different ROMs and got the same message so it is the app not the ROM i am trying to download.
Nothing much worked on the free version, continually telling me I have to have the premium version to work. I bought the premium version and now everything I try to do tells me I have to have a recovery mod for it to work. Meantime, there is no recovery mod for my 10 '' Toshiba Thrive listed or available so this ap is useless to me. Looking for a refund and drawing a blank. Hello!!!
I used this backup app on my Samsung Galaxy S3 from 2013 to 2014 to save the system state before applying any Android updates. I also used it to keep a monthly system image backup for the worst case scenario of crashed system or broken/stolen and therefore replaced S3. I didn't use it to install non-manufacturer firmware (such as Cyanogen etc). Unfortunately, it doesn't work for Samsung S5 and it never worked for any tablet either. So it WAS ok for S3. Downside is the small no of devices it works with.
How can an app that has been around for so long have such a poor user experience. Having to start a download of cwm from the beginning even if you already downloaded it once, and that sort of thing seems to be consistent throughout the constantly crashing app.

I've used Rom Manager since Its early years. If I had a problem with it Dev. always e-mailed me to fix it. It was always something I made a mistake on. I was learning android back in the day and could always ask a question without getting the 3rd degree from dev. Just be polite and curtious when sending PM or e-mail, follow there directions where to send for support.
