About Korner Security

Korner is home security anyone can use and everyone can afford. Existing solutions are expensive and complex to install and use. Through innovation with sensor technology, Korner has refined the notion of home security to its simplest form, creating a solution that is inexpensive and extremely easy to install, thus providing home security to everyone, not just affluent homeowners. Our offering is comprised of a Stick that plugs into a user’s router and communicates wirelessly with Tags (with a reusable adhesive) that are applied to doors and windows. Our Tags are patent-pending one-piece sensors that fit snugly into the corner of a door or window and contour gently with the adjacent frames. In addition, we allow users to pre-populate their App with contacts for friends, family, and neighbors such that any alerts can be instantly forwarded to their personal networks with the press of a button. This supports an inherently social form of Neighborhood Watch, and provides a basic platform for communities to interact.

Seems like they got our money, gave us a half arsed app and went to have cocktails in the Bahamas! At the very least release The API so we can integrate into SmartThings etc...

This app is the only way to interface with the main product. Because the app is badly coded and also drained 32% of my battery since last charge the product is basically useless. What a waste since the tags are well designed and works as intended.

I am going to stick with this thing because I really like the idea of it. I will say that the app is not very responsive. I hope continuing development efforts go forward.

I am returning this within two weeks of buying it. I've had to break into/out of my apartment, setting off the alarm at a an earsplitting scream, four times. The sensors are decent, but the web app is HORRIBLE!!! Twice I have tried to turn the alarm off while entering or exiting, only to have the web app run behind and not work. I ended up outside in the rain in front of my door for over half an hour while the app kept saying attempting to turn off. Every time I tried, it would register that I'd tried, but then nothing. I finally just came in. I also went to leave one day and it said I had turned the alarm off, but it went off anyway. Woke my neighbors up at 8am on a Saturday. The UPS guy put a package notice on the door and the alarm went off while I was at work! I rushed over just to find a freaked-out UPS guy. Finally, the last straw today was that the stick couldn't be detected from about 10am onwards until after I got off work at 5. Well, I couldn't disable my alarm, but foolishly I figured if it can't find the stick, but that wasn't the case and it set off the alarm again. The app is really needs to be fixed.

It's good, really close to great....just need a better app, for instance one that notifies you when an alarm is triggered even if the phone is on silent. Looking forward to a better app, but other than that I'd recommend it!

F70%
by F####:

Works really well actually, app is clunky but works, even better if it allowed a delay before the full alarm goes off when you enter.

I like the affordability, hardware quality and ease of installation, but the whole thing is undercut by a lousy app. What prompted me to finally write this review was my experience last night. The system got tripped in a false alarm, so I grab my Google Pixel and the first time the app never loads, and after 10-20 seconds of watching the spinning load icon I assume the app has crashed. I kill it in the task manager, then restart. I finally get to the interface, only to learn there is no obvious "Cancel Alarm" button. It's not one of the "Quick actions". So I finally disarm it, all the while the siren is screaming. The takeaway is if you get a false alarm and are home, don't bother with the app at first, just unplug the buzzer to silence it, then start noodling around with the unresponsive app. This is not the only issue, the back button incorrectly closes the app, the process of adding users is unnecessarily complex, it takes too long to load through what appears to be two splash screens, etc... Korner, if you're reading this, get some UI/UX folks and a focus group, listen to them and give us a better app. You're kneecapping your great product with the app you have now.

Terrible interface that freezes when the alarm sounds and the back button exits the app rather than going to the previous screen.

Completely useless to me until zenfone is supported. Will change rating when updated and can actually use. Waited a long time just to keep waiting it would seem.

Will be amazing with IFTTT support.

Off to a great start. The tags were linked with no problem, which I expected to be a challenge. My furthest tag is on the other side of the house and works just fine. Two things I'd like to see resolved: 1. Tasker integration. This would be invaluable. Arm/Disarm/Status via Tasker. Also, a widget with the same features might be an option, but I'd rather use Tasker so it was completely automated. 2. At least once a day my stick seems to 'disconnect' and then immediately reconnect. Possibly this is due to a network glitch on my end, but with such a brief interruption I don't think this should result in an alarm. Perhaps put a variable threshold (no connection for over two minutes) or something similar.

I love the concept but this software is horrible! The app constantly freezes ....today I just had to take the stick out of the Wi-Fi unit just leave my home unprotected because the app will not allow me access. Great concept, great system, lousy software!

Y70%
by Y####:

The app is a webapp in a wrapper. The new referral popup is annoying, relentless and breaks the app.

D70%
by D####:

App freaks out when I switch off wifi to network when I leave home and it is faster to restart the app than wait for it to connect. The app is frustratingly slow.

D70%
by D####:

- unclear info in app, *really* needs usability work -should stay open longer in background -notifications show no useful info just a ton of preamble "Korner security blah blah.." - System back button often exits app instead of going back - App is slow, behaves like a web wrapper, if true pls make universal app for Windows 10 M - Profile image doesn't show in app, only in event feed. -pls get a copywriter or editor for app copy: "Cheap & setup in minutes." Huh?

I'm glad that it works with my phone. I do wish there was an option to record approx. 1-3 min. of video when motion is detected. Also, please add a 1/4-20 thread mounting hole so that I can have more mounting options.

D70%
by D####:

Slow to start and I have noticed if I don't close it it stays open in the background and kills battery

The interface is laggy and automatically closes in the background though the improved memory handler of Android 6.0.

The notifications are REALLY slow. I love my system. Please fix.

Don't bother launching this app to disarm security. Just open your door and run to unplug the stick.

X70%

Cheap security and easy to install. Monitor your alarm from anywhere!

A70%

Good system let down by poor app development. Remove full screen view, allow zoning and scheduling to work together, widget to arm and disarm, IFTTT or smartthings integration? Hitting back exits app when in submenus. Zoning for door chime? API?

Need auto ON, either using time or sense if the phone is getting away from the house, since I installed at my home, forget to "Arm" 50% of the time. What good is if you forget to setup when leaving your house.

In summary: - Easy setup in minutes - Customer service - Inexpensive, with features I need, without those I don’t need - Security Circle allows friends, family, & neighbors to join I signed up for this during an Indiegogo funding campaign. I liked the concept and the cost of operating it. After receiving the equipment I was pleasantly surprised to see how easy it was to set up and use with my Android and kids iPhone's. All of them use the app without any input from me on how to use it, which is typically the case, and that speaks volumes on the ease of interaction with the system. If I set the alarm and someone trips it by accident everybody is notified through their phone. I highly recommend this security system for a couple of reasons, first, the guys who developed this system are highly dedicated and motivated to make this system perfect, second, the solid state hardware is durable and I've never had a problem with it. If I ever have a question or suggestion I've always received a response within minutes and the longest response was an hour. I don't think these guys ever sleep! The system is in its infancy and is being tweaked based on users input.

Latest version now working on my ZenFone 2! Great app to secure home on the go. OLDER COMMENT: Works on my wife's Moro G, crashes upon start in my ZenFone 2; saw a 7/22/15 comment about same thing. Hope a fix is in the works. In general pleased with the hardware and know the software will catch up!

Installation was incredibly easy and straight forward and seems to work well. A must have feature for me us arming via a calendar or at least between times. If we are away we have cleaners and cat sitters come in during the day so only want to arm at night.

Doesn't work at all on zenfone2, please fix it, currently have to use browser instead. After the latest update, it's now work great, good job Korner team.

V70%

I have it installed and running. Note to users trying to install on garage doors: use the door opener instead of trying to stick it to the door itself. The metal interference on the door and door slides prevented it from reading the tag for whatever reason.

R70%
by R####:

I set it up-Easy. I've been tripping the alarm on purpose, to see if it works. Only alarmed about 2 out of 7 tries. Plus, I had someone else trip it while I was gone. No or very late email! Really! Why not a push notifications??

M70%
by M####:

Completely useless to me until zenfone is supported. Will change rating when updated and can actually use. Waited a long time just to keep waiting it would seem.

R70%
by R####:

App installation was easy and straight forward. My two concerns are: app is not user friendly, design needs rework, and the app resets each time I hide it. The solution is of no use if I don't get an immediate and clear push notification alert in case of intrusion .
