Koodo Self Serve for Android
Nothing ever loads except for the main page. When I click on something on the left side it never loads. The one time it did load was when I was trying to pay my bill, it still took me to the website to login in again. I understand it's for privacy but I've been with other companies that let's you pay your bill through the app. This is not new technology.
Nice update, UI is all sleek and easy to navigate. Welcome page lists everything you could care about. They fixed the permissions thing! Bonus question: Think you could make it poll for updates say twice a day and send notifications if you're running out of minutes/data?
I am conteplating leaving koodo for another service provider with a better app. For sure Koodo makes their app slow or inaccessible so we cant track our usage thus paying more. Anyone tried Fido or any other service provider?The older version was waay better.
I really like that I can see my info but it has a serious loading issue.. I have to open the app ,then click "usage" page says " no info avail. Will update soon",then close the app and then open it again just to see my usage but it still loads really... Really... Really slow.. But otherwise it's great
Often times the app states there is no billing information to give me, no usage information to give me, and get stuck in a loading loop. Normally I'd go to the desktop version of self serve when this happens but the website is equally broken in the same regards. I'm having major difficulties getting info about my account, my usage and bill payments. Please fix, quickly.
WOULD YOU PLEASE MAKE THIS APP WORK!!!! My usage info never loads and this is important to me. I need to check it all the time. Need to uninstall then reinstall the app for it to show everything again. Once i close it and open it a second time, nothing loads again. It was fine before the total change. Why screw with a good thing???
They fixed the permission issue (it now works even with all 3 permissions turned off). Very clean looking UI. After testing all the options in the side bar I can say they all work perfectly (despite what I've seen in other reviews). Despite what another review says, you aren't forced to accept permissions when updating (if they're on, turn them off in app permissions), navigation is smooth and easy (it works exactly like my banking apps that have a "main menu" button in the top left corner), and finally the back button IS USED (it takes you back to the main page). The person I am correcting has absolutely no idea how to use modern apps, and is just spreading misinformation.
In the old app, payment was so simple and it would show you paid it right away....now? Instead of paying on the app itself, yit takes you to a website and you have to reputation your info and go from there. Also, not sure if my payment went through yet, due to the fact that it still shows how much I have to pay....
I can never get it to show my data usage. It just says loading and never works. The old app worked fine. Nice way to ensure people are going over and paying more, just make it so they can't see how much they've used!
This app is a piece of garbage. The older app was so much EASIER AND SIMPLE to use especially making payments. Koodo, if you are reading these reviews, stick with what works!!! I used to be able to make payments FROM the app, not redirect me to the frickin website where i keep receiving "couldn't secure connection" B.S..
Glitchy and crashy. Hangs up constantly. For a cell provider that insists customers use virtual support services, one would expect a more stable app. Constantly need to call in my service requests (for which I'm charged) because the app is dysfunctional.
I know it states that this is only available for post-paid customers but why? Can I have an app too? It's a hassle to buy boosters from my phones web browser and no I don't want to automatically top up my boosters.
The app is extremely glitchy and frustrating to navigate because none of the links work. It has painfully long load times and I have given up on it all together. Koodo shouldn't hire squirrels with down syndrome to develop their apps.
Unnecessarily difficult to use if you use a password keeper like Keepass. Password field cannot be pasted into, and switching apps erases all entered information, this makes you physically write down your password to be able to login. Please make the password field paste-able. Also constant "no billing information" errors popping up.
It does the job but suffers from numerous loading screens and as a result the interface feels clunky. The disclaimer that if you save your password you are responsible for all unauthorized payments is not appreciated either. At least it works even when you do have a data plan.
Clunky, bloated and sloooow! Why change something that worked? At least get the app working correctly before releasing it half baked... -.- Takes too long to load and functionality is very buggy.
Why should I like this app if it is completely useless? It has NONE of my information on it; so what is it for? The old app allowed me to review my plan, change add-ons if need be, and see my billing information. With this app I feel so disconnected and just giving my money without question .
The Koodo Mobile app is slow an takes forever to load, it also takes a very long time for me to move to other menus. This app could also use a page which tells you which credit card was use to make payment if you have signed up for preauthorized payments. The site keeps kicking me out of the app. Please retest this app and make it more user friendly. It also needs to be reengineered so the site works similar to the TELUS My Account site.
The payment feature is awful. It's like you made it obtusely in order to have people switch to automated payments so they don't have to use the crappy interface anymore. Note that I will NEVER give automated access to a phone company.
I find the update has made the app really slow and more complicated than it needs to be. I don't understand the purpose of transferring me to chrome to pay my bill, and also requiring my to sign in again. But the new layout is pretty
App freezes on loading screens. The only reason I use the app is to pay my bill, but now it redirects to my browser for payment anyway. Might as well just skip Self Serve all together.
Useful, you can check your usage, add additional services. Functions well. The previous version worked, whereas the new one, takes for ever to load. It is example do not change something what is not broken. Practically I am forced to ckeck my usage on the desktop computer.
Went to pay my bill, opens up some other login that I have had no previous setup to. Used old app for some time, no problems. Now with new update, guess they don't want our money now. Yay! Edit: Able to pay my bill now, but several extra steps now to do so including having to open another screen. This app is very distasteful which discourages me from ever using it. Probably the closest I've come to switching providers, especially since I've been with koodo for say about 5+ years and never been rewarded for my loyalty. Ranting now, just not a good app that's all.
It's been a while now, maybe since one of new year's updates that the app became even less usable. For instance, it lost the keep me logged in, doesn't even remember username, i get notifications that the bill payment is due in n days even though it's been already paid and shows as 0 under ' your bill'. On top of that, payment inside the app ceased to work, have to go to koodo self serve website to do that. Looks to me like not useful anymore, any comments koodo?
UPDATE: Ever since they updated this app it is absolutely dreadful. I've had to uninstall and reinstall it. I've had to close it again and again for the correct page to load because it just doesn't load the correct main page. I don't like the whole layout either. Totally just sucks now! Helpful app. Let's me see my usage so I don't go over my data. And my bill.
I like Koodo, but this app is really buggy. Logged me in, but won't let me manage addons. Can't even see them. My partner can see hers but gets errors trying to activate addons. It would be nice if you made it easier for us to pay you for more, Koodo ;-)
Frequently encounters issues with bill payments and with processing transactions. Instead of using the app to pay for my bills, I am forced to use my pc. Otherwise, the layout and menus in the app are simple and easy to find. I like how it shows the data, minutes, etc. that I used each month.
Gives me the info I need at a glace, which is great! It's a little slow to load, and I find it annoying that I can't paste my password into the password field, but those are pretty minor complaints.
The update worked well at first. Its easier to use and more informative. However, I am now unable to check my data usage to make sure I am not going to go past my limit. I can't load any information, for that matter. :(
This app is useless. Koodoo also charges a stupid amount for extra data and does it in 100mb increments. You can't change your plan through the app so they trap you with low data plans and huge data fees. Koodoo needs to lower data rates or offer reasonable unlimited data like other companies.
The new update is horrible! I can't directly pay in the app, and everything usage takes forever to load! I want the old app back. This is absolutely a nightmare to use. Im thinking about switching to another company. Sorry Koodo. If I have to pay on the website, what's the point using the app?? You are on a path of making a lot of people switching provider. Ease of using the app is a must to keep customers!!
It bounces all over the place whenever I use it. You would think they would make it easy to pay a bill.. so much hassle for no reason. Always have to use my laptop to pay bills. Super inconvenient.
I used to love using this app it worked really well. Unfortunately I had to bring my previous rating down from a 4 start to a 1 star. This new version is utter garbage and does not work at all. Constantly crashes or never loads up what I've selected. Bottom line is that it's useless as it stands currently. Please improve the app and I will review again.
Update: they listened and removed the permissions. Thank you. Too many permission needed and freezes the phone. Can't use copy and paste in the password field? Maybe it's time to switch providers.
New version of app constantly gets stuck when trying to load current usage. This was not an issue in the old version. This update makes the app look appealing but if the features don't work then it's pointless.
I'm angry I am not impressed you have to agree for Koodo to look into everything in your phone. I have been with Koodo since 2008 too why did they change the app if it ain't broke why fix it
New update makes the app unusable. I get an incorrect login error despite correct credentials that work in browser, and the password reset screen will not let me submit. The new permissions are invasive and unnecessary-- location, camera, videos, photos, etc. I just want to pay my bill and monitor my usage. Please make the old version available again, it was a small and simple app that worked. Update: I can log in now, but the app crashes on the payment page and reverts back to asking for automatic payments. (Which I do not want due to previous overcharging experience) if I could give this app a 0/5 I would.
The new app takes forever to load, especially usage data. I just get the spinning wheel for many minutes and usually give up. This didn't happen with the old version.
It used to work well but changing add-ons or plan on selfserve has been a problem for several months now. Still useful to check usage and bill.

The app asks for too many permissions. There is no need to add location and personal photo permissions to a billing/usage app. The interface is streamlined but unfortunately it won't accept my correct password and the reset password function doesn't seem to work at all. I managed to make it work due to a fluke where closing the app automatically reopened it and signed me in... for some reason. For now it gets 2 stars. I will reevaluate that when they patch these issues.
