NotationalAcceleration for Android
I'm a huge NValt fan from my OS X days, and this app spots a good job of emulating that experience on Android, but it far from perfect. The as placement is just obnoxious, and nowadays, more often than not, it fails to sync with Simplenote. I am not optimistic that these issues will be fixed, considering the app hadn't been updated for a long time.
Syncing with simple note most often does not work. Requires user attention for something that seemingly cannot be affected by user. This problem destroys all value.
Doesn't seem to have tagging capabilities. Click on tags on a title and nothing shows up. This seems as bad with tags as flick note. Kind of makes it tough to share with others.
Used to work.. HTC Sense 4.0 user.
Good but why on Earth is the Icon so ugly, I can't put this on my home screen.
This is one of my go-to Android note taking apps, and pairs wonderfully with Notational Velocity on Mac (via Simplenote). I've used both for years, and have always loved the simplicity of note searching / creation / editing. One suggestion: would love to see support for Samsung's "Multi Window Mode" added to the app.
But slow at Times, Ads cover too much of the screen (although that's probably on purpose) needs a light theme as well. Inferior to Epistle, will check back within some months if there has been any improvement
Weak on the features side. Make Tags and Pinned features premium if you want, but the app needs them badly.
I love this app it works great only thing it's missing is a way to share a note via sms or even email. that would make it perfect.
It syncs with simplenote, but not much else. Would like options for text size, colors, and markdown support, but until then I'll use epistle.
Works great so far. Very few features but that's a good thing in this case
No response in a month of constant sync errors. Still getting errors months later
I used to have Andronoter . It was fabulous. I could totally count on my information being at my fingertips. This app has never synced properly. I gave it a chance too, thought maybe i would get past the glitch. Nope. Sick of looking for a replacement. This definitely is not it.
This is still the best simplenote app for Android, especially since it's free - but please, please add a light theme!
I paid for the full version. Constant error in syncing... very unreliable. Get the simplenote app instead. Cleaner interface. No errors.
Simple, easy to use, but ... ... tag support does not work, and I am missing sync schedule plan to sync on background ... unistalled cause Simple Note did not manage the conflict of my notes, and I lost some notes wrote on PC against old versions on tablet and phone
Lets me keep all my notes in sync. It does have occasional issues syncing, but it seems to be simple note's fault rather than the app.
Works very well on my HTC desire S, there is a lot of sync warnings, but it seems to work well anyway (so it is mostly just annoying). The official simplenote app does not support older android versions, and this is great for those. But it is an old app and it does not work very well on my nexus 7 (2013), it is very slow, not responsive and the UI looks broken -- I prefer the official simplenote app on this.
It's a pretty good Simplenote client, better than all the others I've tried.
The current sync errors are a problem on Simplenote's server side. Great app! So much faster and intuitive than flick note.
Like other apps in this category the flavour is white-on-black, which is unfortunately the hardest way to read text. The ability to change (ie reverse) this and a heavier trigger between scroll/call keyboard would up this by at least one star. MO
Universally searchable, just start typing. Simple and easy. I use it every day.
Overall a good app. Not sure if it's a problem with the app or with HTC but the menu bar at the bottom of my One X stays even though this is a holo/ICS app. Also a better icon would be appreciated
I know that it is meant to be minimalistic, but it's gone just a bit too far. The ability to switch between light and dark themes would be wicked useful. However, more than anything I just wish I could sort the notes alphabetically.
Bouncing back and forth between notes on my Mac and my phone is problematic because I have to have the app running in the foreground for a minute or so before the updated note appears on my phone-and I don't want to mess up the note by writing into its older version. Is that simplenote of the app that cause this?
Only minor complaints. I wish background push sync could be enabled because when I open the app I often want to quickly take notes, but syncing takes extra time. Otherwise great app.
Loved this app up until a couple days ago when it no longer is able to sync... please fix!
I would buy it if I could password protect the app as well.
I spend much more of my time reading my notes than editing them. Yet when I open a note to read on my HTC One V I often find the keyboard pops up and it goes into edit mode. This is very frustrating. I noticed on my wife's HTC One S, that the keyboard continuously appears and the app isn't usable on her device. I would love to have an edit button on the note that I can press, for when I want to be able to edit the note. That way i can quickly navigate around and read my notes without the keyboard appearing all the time. I'm forced to uninstalling this otherwise great app, on my wife's wife and looking for an alternative. And I will be seeing if there's something more stream lined for my usage too.
AndroNoter stopped working after I upgraded to JellyBean, and this looks great and uses the Android 4 Holo look & feel. SimpleNote syncing seems to work well - that's all I need!
Very well done, and nearly as full-featured as the Mac app; would be nice if the developer added a few more features, as possible, from it. It's annoying to not have the tab key available (mostly a keyboard issue), and there should be an option for a tab to be equivalent to a certain number of spaces. Overall, excellent work, which adheres to the NV philosophy.
I do like options to save pics with notes, so I guess I'm using simple note. Ever notes just too clustered up for my taste. The icon is ridiculous, but that can be fixed with a simple icon changer. Just my 2 cents worth.
Doesn't have advanced features but works great. The only problem is that syncing usually fails (maybe is just me) I make changes on my mobile device and on my PC with ResophNotes and 90% of the time it gives me the "Sync error, tap to retry" notification. This happened to me in a variaty of devices, over wifi and 3G. After a 4 or 5 notifications the syncing works but in some ocassions the data is lost Tried several other clients but still this is the best.
This is a bit of a drawback. I cannot see any way of synchronising the files with nvALT (a notational velocity based app) except for doing it via Simplenote.
I hope this app will improve; I'm an iOS refugee dismayed by the poor selection of note-taking apps on Android. This one has potential. My three main complaints are 1) frequent unexplained sync errors with Simplenote, 2) the eye-hurting white on black scheme, and 3) no support for tags.
Good app overall and love that it syncs with simplenote, but I keep getting system notifications that syncs failed so I'm turing sync off for now. I'd love an option to make background sync less frequent and suppress these notifications except when I'm in the app. Would also like a black on white option.
its very good, but it needs a light theme, and while you can look for tags, it would be nice if you show them and add filters for them. otherwise, it great, and the ui is perfect.
I'm a NV and NValt user on the Mac and wanted a Simplenote app for my Android phone for synching. While Notational Acceleration is the best of the lot I did find it frustrating that the app stripped all of the formatting from notes written in NV (pretty sure it was the app and not the syncing with Simplenote that caused this) -- unfortunately with the kind of writing that I do formatting is pretty crucial so this may be a deal-breaker. I also have to go back and reformat my notes which will cost me some time--frustrating.
Installed Flick Notes first and was sad over how slow it performed in my HTC Chacha... Well NA does the same note taking (minus the formatting) in half the time, and is much more efficient at syncing. I'm delighted! Four stars, not five for the lack of optional sorting order ;) I'd want them alphabeticqally! Hehe

I constantly get "Sync error: tap to retry." It seems to happen whenever it tries to sync and there aren't any changes to any of my notes, which is most of the time. Also I wish it formatted markdown.
