Kithaabul Muqaddhas – Dhivehi

In this Android app, a translation of holy writings from the Tawrat (توراة) and Injeel (إنجيل) is now available in the Dhivehi language (ދިވެހި ބަސް), the national language of the Republic of Maldives. It is also the language of Minicoy Island in Lakshadweep, a Union Territory of India, where it is known as Mahl or Mahal.

As these apostles shared the Good News about Jesus (އީސާގެފާނާއި ބެހޭ ހެޔޮޚަބަރުފުޅު), communities of Jesus followers formed all over the ancient Roman Empire. Believers needed guidance in how to follow Jesus together. The apostles wrote letters to these communities of believers to give further instructions. In the letter to the Galatians (ގަލާތިޔާގެ މަސީޙީންނަށް ސިޓީ) we find out what true freedom is. The letter to the believers in Ephesus (އެފޭސުސްގެ މަސީޙީންނަށް ސިޓީ) teaches us how to defeat Satan (ޝައިތާނާ). The letter to the Philippians (ފިލިއްޕީގެ މަސީޙީންނަށް ސިޓީ) tells us what our goal in this life needs to be to have true joy. James, the half-brother of Jesus, describes true religion (ސައްޙަ ދީން) in his letter (ޔާމިޒުގެ ސިޓީ). Instructions for leaders of the believing communities are given in various letters (ތިމޮތީއަށާއި ތީތުސްއަށް ސިޓީތަކެއް). Peter (ޕަތަރަސްގެ ފުރަތަމަ ސިޓީ ) teaches believers to expect ridicule, suffering, and other types of persecution simply because they believe in Jesus, and also how to overcome these things by trusting God and doing good even to those who want to harm them.

Dhivehi (Maldivian) translations of other holy writings from the Tawrat (ތައުރާތު), Zabur (ޒަބޫރު), Anbiya (ސަޙާއިފް އޭ އަންބިއާ) & Injeel (އިންޖީލު) are planned to be released for Android devices in the future. The Tawrat (Law), Zabur (Psalms), Anbiya (Prophets), and Injeel (Gospel) are different sections of the Bible (ބައިބަލް). The Bible is universally regarded as among the world's most influential books. According to the Qur'an (قرآن), the Bible gives people insight, guidance and mercy (see Qur’an 28:43, c.f. 3:3-4, 6:92).

This app contains an embedded Thaana font, and a simple built-in Thaana keyboard for searching for words in the text. (The Thaana script is unique to Maldives.)

This is an offline app, completely self-contained. It does not need Internet access, or any special permissions.
