About TimingBeam – RC Lap Timing
TimingBeam is an RC lap timing software for RC racing enthusiasts. It is designed to talk directly with Bluetooth-based RC Lap Timing Systems like DirtChampDesign’s DCD TimeR RC Lap Timing System and PocketPit’s Lap Counting System for recording lap times without the need of running any timing software, such as DCD LapR, on a computer. With TimingBeam, RC racers may avoid the trouble of bringing their computer laptops to the race track but only to keep their focus on the RC gears they need. This also avoids the risk of having their laptops from getting stolen or damaged at the race track.
TimingBeam can record lap times generated by multiple IR-based transponders simultaneously. It offers an intuitive and easy-to-use user interface for logging lap times, managing practice and racing sessions, rendering lap time charts and race ranking charts, reporting verbal lap times and race positions in realtime, … and many more.
TimingBeam is portable and it allows immediate access to your vital lap timing data through your Android device while you are still at the drivers’ stand. TimingBeam speaks to you your successive lap times and race positions while you are racing your way through the field. TimingBeam keeps you informed about your performance lap-by-lap so that you can keep your eyes at your race car and focus at your racing.
V4.0 Multiplayer and racing features are now supported for Pocket Pit Lap Counting System, as well as support for Zeppin Racing’s IR Transponders
TimingBeam sees another major upgrade within the last 12 months. The latest TimingBeam V4.0 is further extended to work with the new TBScanner firmware developed by our genius engineers at RCRacingware. By upgrading the firmware of a Pocket Pit Lap Timer with the new TBScanner’s version, the orange-box lap timer may now capture IR signals sent by multiple Pocket Pit’s IR Transponders simultaneously. As such, a single Pocket Pit Lap Timer is now sufficient to capture the lap times produced by multiple race cars each having a different Transponder ID. Moreover, TBScanner is also able to understand the IR signals emitted by Zeppin Racing’s IR Transponders, thus making the orange Pocket Pit box the first multi-protocol lap counting system in the world. Owners of Pocket Pit’s and Zeppin Racing’s IR Transponders may now benefit from the multiplayer and racing features of TimingBeam.
Our genius engineers at RCRacingware even took a step further to release a new PC program called PPUpdateFX to streamline the firmware update process whereby the new TBScanner could be installed by just one mouse click -- delivering a hassle-free experience for our fellow racers.
The new PPUpdateFX program and TBScanner firmware are immediately available and they may be downloaded from this website: https://goo.gl/Rr5JsC
V3.1 TimingBeam can now work with PocketPit’s Lap Counting System
This latest TimingBeam version is compatible with PocketPit’s Lap Timer which uses the new Bluetooth 4.0 Low-energy (BLE) protocol. Because Android’s support for Bluetooth 4.0 was only introduced since Android 4.3, please verify whether your Android device has Bluetooth 4.0 hardware support if you plan to connect TimingBeam with such BLE-based Lap Counting System.
