This is a simple little app for the Samsung Galaxy line of phones. It will not work for the Galaxy Tablet, as this is very hardware specific. E-mail me if it doesn't work for your Galaxy S phone, I'd like to make it work for everyone. REQUIRES root access.
It keeps the LEDs for the capsense buttons on while the screen is on. In order to do this it requires root access.
To use, simply install and then add the widget to a desktop. Click on the widget to enable and you're done. Click on the widget again to disable. Once enabled, you can simply remove the widget and the system will remember your settings.
By default the service is disabled when you install, as it is not possible to start a service on install.
If you really like it there's a pro version where you can donate some money to my beer fund. The pro version will likely have (in the future) extra features.

I knew! THIS APP does not do what it says - i.e. DOES NOT WORK @ ALL! :-( on my... {ROOTED} "Samsung Vibrant"... Any other 'root' apps work just fine!

This was one of the original reasons I rooted my captivate when I got it. But it does not always work on my infuse, so I have to lower my rating abit

For those having issues go to widgets, select the keep the lights on widget, press the light bulb icon and keep on screen or delete..it'll work ;-)

This widget is critical for Samsung Galaxy S users. The capacitive buttons (keys) at the bottom of the screen are under the display glass. Great in terms of appearance, but I cannot ever find them once they turn off. And to save battery life Samsung has the lighted keys turn off in about three seconds. On my rooted Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant I recall having a ROM that provided the menu item "keep the keys lighted." But my SGS II ROM did not have that option. Stock ROMs never seem to want to light up the touch buttons... So the custom ROM hackers created the option to turn them on when you tap the screen. This was okay, except that it added an extra tap to get to activate a button. After reading up on the touch button's battery usage, I decided it was worth the little additional battery drain to just keep them on when the unit was active. I'll never fumble for the buttons again! Thanks, GB!

Super app but. pro version doesn't work, so I had to go back to unpaid version which works fine.

Works, but not perfectly. When I bring my phone out of sleep mode and unlock it, the captive buttons remain dark until I press one of them. Then they stay on until it sleeps again. Then I have to press one before they come on and stay on.
