Using the free hardware codec with no bandwidth restrictions does the trick. However there is a very annoying glitch were turners are not released making the homerun to look busy and render it useless till a reset it done on the homerun box. InstaTV has the right codecs for this box with no pixelation and the right de-interlacing. this situation occurs with the built-in LiveTV app on this native AndroidTV box. I hope a fix its on their way.

This is a rip-off!!! Do NOT Buy THIS APP (PRO). The version must be purchased via the mobile devices WITHOUT refund capability in Google Play. The Pro version (11 Oct 2016) has NO sound and the channel it played in HD (720) with no sound on the free version DOES NOT work with Pro ($9.99) version. Same network, same device, same bandwidth within 3 mins of upgrading. Do Not PURCHASE this app. Don't download the free version; is is fraud!!

I have cut the cord and use HDHomeRun devices to watch over-the-air. I have a M8 AndroidTV box with this installed. The picture quality is stunning, but that is about the extent of praises I give the app. It has a cumbersome interface and problems with audio. It frequently plays the Second Audio Program instead of the primary audio stream. The only way to correct the audio issue is to close the app and restart it; quite annoying. I have other systems for recording content off my HDHomeRun devices but this is the only stable platform for playing true HD content live without hiccups, albeit the aforementioned SAP audio issue.

Listing makes no mention of no sound support. How do I know this even works?

I have old hdhomerun dual tuners which work great with windows media center & no plan to replace. This app allows me to watch live tv on our android & Fire devices with no other server side transcoder system like other solutions. (Most of which require the newer tuner models) so without media center extender app to stream from my windows media center this is next best option. As far as cons, it's bit clunky/finicky to setup & use. Requiring in app purchase to work kinda shady.

This is a significantly better interface than google's love channels or the hdhomerun app, however it absolutely needs search! Absolutely worth the money for the codecs it had that feature.

Best live TV app for my legacy HD Homerun device and Amlogic Android box. Good control via IR remote, built in hardware mpeg2 decode on Amlogic, and usually restarts decode automatically if stream glitches.

Does NOT function as described on an NVidia Shield Android TV. Both HW and SW decode just see the wait circle endlessly. No change after in app purchase of codecs. USELESS.

I am using the oldest HDHomerun device possible (HDHR-US). It's the white antenna OTA box (two tuners). The official HDHomerun app and one other 3rd party app do not support the older devices. So, I found InstaTV. It was super easy to setup (after I ran the setup on my PC for the device itself). InstaTV found my dual tuner device instantly and I hooked up a $20 Monoprice antenna to it. I can now stream HD local channels to both of my Nvidia Shield TV devices in other ends of the house (the Shield TV devices even come with a "Live Channels" app that is compatible with InstaTV). Overall I'm super satisfied with this app - it does exactly what I want it to do. $10 seems a little steep, and there is no way to test the app fully because there is no sound without paying for the app, but at least you can get picture and you will know it's working with your setup. Great job!!! Hopefully you guys can continue to update it. I would LOVE to see programs details in the channel guide!

They offered a pro version ($4.86) when i bought it. They have since removed this version and are now requiring you to purchase a pack for $10 to get any sound.

Loved this app before the update... had purchased the codecs pack but now doesn't work and is holding a ransom of another purchase for audio decoding... don't purchase this app and accompanying codecs. Not at all happy.

App works great when you use ethernet cable straight to the router from your media box. Works great with hdhomerun prime box programs.

Not sure what the negative comments are about. I downloaded the extra codecs and it works the best out of everything I have tried with my sd hd homerun prime. Please keep up the great work

The UI is just terrible. None of the hardware decoders work properly with my Nexus 5 on Android M.

Don't be fooled! I paid for this app awhile ago, and now there's a new release that disables sounds unless you pay another $10 in-app purchase to re-enable playback. Basically charging an extra $10 for features I already paid for once!

Purchased in app pack on my old mobile ,installed instatv pro on my new mobile cant restore purchased features. Wants me to buy again.

I already paid for codecs and now they remove sound and demand another $10 to get it back. RIP OFF! ------ SOLUTION; I replaced this app with the HDHRFLING app on my PC. Streams hdhomerun live TV to any browser. Free trial and ONE TIME fee for license. Works better than this app ever did. HD works fine.

Hope you have a backup that you can restore your previous version from. This version has very choppy video. Perhaps it's from all the extra overhead of updating the channel icons and information.

Apon trying to play drm channels from an hdhomerun-cc it told me I need needed to pay 10 bucks for the in app purchase. I did that and it still doesn't work. And in app purchase are not easily refundable.

I paid for the codec once..while back...worked great..now they want $10 more in app to enable audio...wtf? Scam.

Works great on my Shield TV. NOTE: this application REQUIRES hardware MPEG-2 decoding to function properly and a lot of devices do not have this. The Shield TV does not have it enabled by default however can be done on a rooted device. A future update will add support so all devices should work fine with this. As for the 4 star rating this application does not pass or recognize Dolby streams so all channel audio is 2.0 only. Hopefully this is addressed in a future update! Glad to have a player that supports MPEG-2 acceleration on Android TV. I could not get reliable playback from any other player from my HD Homerun Prime.

I gave this a four stars last year. It was great! I tried using it today and now I have to pay 10 bucks to be get audio! Read the other reviews! Don't get this POS app until they fix it!
