Text Snapper is a simple application which uses your phone's camera and allows you to photograph text, like phone numbers, words, emails and website addresses.
It renders as text, NOT as an image, so you can edit it (plus SAVE, COPY, PASTE)
A handy way to use is, open the app, line it up, snap the phone number, then call or SMS. Or you can snap a paragraph of text and email or text it to yourself. Or snap a website URL and go there. Or snap an email address and send an email. Or save as a contact.
Text Snapper uses standard open source OCR which allows applications to recognise characters. The app is designed to photograph and render text from any flat surface like a printed flyer, or even a computer screen or toilet door and transit ads. Text Snapper renders phone numbers and text very well, and can render emails and URLs although sometimes not so well!
Also like any camera shot, you need to have good lighting to take a good shot of the text so it can render properly. And some fancy fonts may not render well...we've seen Text Snapper render some bizarre words!
