Amazing!! Cannot believe how amazing this works! All of you, just crop the actual photo! It has a button right there and found the ACTUAL boogie board amazing. Although I'm not too likeable to the app, loved it a LOT and would use again sometime. I love how you invert the little colors into black & white! Amazing little feature that gave me a great experience. Great job Boogie Board!

I don't get why people are giving this a thumbs down. This is a great app. Let's you keep track of notes and anything you need to Jot down and remember. I use it a lot. Takes only seconds to snap a pic of your Boogie Board and you save paper as well. If you're trying to compare this to a $700 graphics tablet, you're out of your mind...

I am not sure why all the bad comments. For me it works as I would expect. Is it perfect, no. But it grabs my a pic of my drawings fine. It does sometimes pick up any glare from the lights as part of the drawing but all I need to do is retake the image. I am a long time boogie board user. Had the original and the battery died. After 4 years I saw them again and loved the fact that I could swap batteries. If I ever see the sync I would pick it up too.

Couldn't get the app to scan anything in auto mode. But in manual mode I did finally get a scan and the results aren't too bad. They are easy to read, compared to a photo. My only issue now is that I can't message an image or edit it using any messaging client or image editor on my phone. The images are in PNG format, but for some reason none of my messaging apps will allow them as an attachment or let me edit them - even just to do simple rotation.

The concept is great. But the app failed to do what it was advertiesed to do. i can scan it quickly, easily and with quality but its file format wont sent in a text message or even over fb messenger. Kinda really sucks for my intended purpose as i cant even send my husband the grocery list .... It has a long way to go before i am happy with this product. PLZ fix

The scan always takes the picture sideways and does not read the board properly in both auto and manual modes. If it would just scan in the right direction I would give it a better review. There also needs to be an option where you can earase part of the scanned image when editing. I'm not very impressed. Taking a picture with my phone works better than this app.

Idk how anyone gives this app a good review. Maybe it's my lighting but no matter what room I'm in or how I hold the thing it never takes a good picture. If you dont have the board yet beware this app doesnt work well, you have to use the camera on your phone to "scan" the board. At best the picture is readable and I have a Samsung galaxy s7 with an amazing camera. The device itself is fun to play on but just taking an actual picture of the board is far more effective than spending 5 minutes to get a barely ledgable picture through this app. This is no exaggeration the app is totally useless if you haven't bought the board yet, beware the device itself works great but the app doesn't work at all as expected.

I wish there was more editing options and that there was a button I could use to save the screen, theres no sync or anything.....the picture quality is not great and it doesnt allow me to change backgrounds. I can use another scanning app to give me better options. It's nothing special...I can do the same things on my phone. The boogie board is great if you're playing pictionary....I would not use it for notes and lists

D70%
by D####:

The idea is amazing. Why? It replaces paper and sticky notes, but the app sucks. It takes a long time for it to scan and it crops out one inch of the top of the board. It also does not take good pictures. I know it's not my phones camera fault because it takes fine pictures on its own.

God awful. App uses a camera, which isn't a problem other models use Bluetooth, these boards are sold at gaming stores for tournaments where Network devices a banned during rounds so using Bluetooth is not an option. However, you have to have perfect lighting for it to recognize. Turning on your phones flashlight isn't an option as the app turns overrides and turns off the flashlight as soon as you start scanning mode. And has no native option to utilize the phones light/flash. Poor engineering, minimal ui design, zero results from zero planning. Better off using your phone camera to take a snapshot

Z70%
by Z####:

I think this app is great. It does exactly what it should do and does it well. For everyone complaining that it crops 1 inch off of your scan, there's actually a crop icon under the scan that allows you to choose the parameters of your scan instead of the auto-generated one. Plus the scan is clear and crisp (maybe a little too much; it picks up small specks that aren't actually there), but that would be my only complaint. Thanks devs for giving us a nice, simple app that makes using this board just that much better. :)

D70%
by D####:

This app is so stupid. Like others have said you should just use your CAMERA for a better image! Don't waste your time and app space downloading this.... good grief developers! My 8 yr old could do something better!

D70%
by D####:

Reverts to white background and is extremely poor quality. I'm very disappointed with the app. Could be used alot better technology in my boogie board and the app so you can actually save images lists etc exactly how they are written and not reverted in such a cheap quality.

This is one time the reviews were spot on - the app is terrible. Auto mode does nothing, and Manual mode takes poor pictures. Got the boogie board as Christmas gift, okay device, would be nice to be able to delete/clear some text rather than full page, but it's an okay device.

D70%
by D####:

Complete crap App, which was in my opinion the key to grabbing our interest of buying the boogie board. Now I'm walking with a useless mock white board thanks for stealing my money. Improve the App and I'll change my review

N70%
by N####:

This app sucks tremendously! Dont waste your time and energy downloading this! I dont understand why you guys need access to my photos and files and access to taking pictures and recording videos..it doesnt make any sense?? No wonder you guys have terrible reviews! Why would anybody in their right minds downoad this app?

D70%
by D####:

For what it's supposed to do, it's done very poorly. Takes a black and white picture of your entire surroundings, then you have to crop everything out except the Boogie Board. If it took a quality photo of the Boogie Board that's one thing, but half of what I scribbled was missing. This app makes a great black and white sketch photo filter though!

D70%
by D####:

The product itself is wonderful, but this app is HORRIBLE! I can't get the camera to focus on the words in either mode and if I do get it to focus the picture it takes looks NOTHING like what was on my phone screen at the time, often showing me a picture taken at a completely different angle. I'll just take a picture with my phone and make a folder, because this is a huge hassle and not worth it.

D70%
by D####:

The app is unable to use the camera to pick up anything i draw or write on my boogie board. Even when i try manual, it doesnt work and random dark spots just appear on the screen. Please fix this, i would really like for this to work.

V70%
by V####:

Crops out the top inch or so. Even when I manually crop the photo. The piece is there but the software removes it from the cropped image. Poor design by someone. Even more poor testing. Should be a relatively simple fix just need to spend a few hours on it guys. Cmon.

Y70%
by Y####:

App cuts 1" off the top. So if you have anything on the Boogie Board that's less than 1" from the top, it will be cropped out of the image/photo taken by this app. Plus the quality of the acquired image looks like an 8bit scan. You'd be better off simply using your phone's camera to capture the Boogie Board screen. Actually, you'd be better off if you hadn't purchased a Jot e-writer in the first place. The Sync is their only product that appears to have any practical usage for a consumer.

I70%
by I####:

app is completely useless. might as well take a photo with my camera and save it to a folder; it was nowhere near the quality advertised when it did correctly take the picture. If you perfectly align your camera with the board itll either take the picture too close up or too zoomed out. too much work for something thats supposed to make note taking more convenient. auto didnt even work, the board might as well be a fancy travel sized whiteboard that picks up your hand prints on the background.

Y70%
by Y####:

Like others have said, it doesn't work well at all. Auto doesn't capture, manual gets a pic of part of what's written on the board. Was excited to be able to save lists to my phone. Why isn't someone fixing the issues, seems like bad reviews have been coming in for a while. Uninstalling until it works better.

I use it to jot down notes prior to any exam. Since I (and the rest of the free world) always have my cell phone glued to my hands, I take full advantage of the time it would take to scroll thru useless social media feeds to instead go over my notes. It's usually a quick process that helps to keep relevant materials I've learned in the forefront of my mind. I would give it 5 stars if there was a folder system to help organize my notes. Otherwise this is a very useful app for various purposes.

N70%
by N####:

The auto feature doesn't capture properly, the manual mode captures more than whats in frame, and the crop function crops more than it should. I bought this 20 dollar thing for this feature, guess I should have reviewed the apps reviews first. It's a perfectly functional product, but I will not support this app.

Y70%
by Y####:

The lighting is an issue. The app doesn't offer a way to use your phone's flash (nor does it let you crank the brightness up in post), which would significantly improve the quality of the scans. As is, I have to use a bright lamp to get anything usable out of it.

Y70%
by Y####:

I don't usually leave negative reviews but I have to because I don't feel that Boogie lives up to its advertising. Capture quality is bad, very pixelated and it doesn't pick up small writing as shown in example pictures. Good luck taking a picture of it on your fridge unless you have the lighting of a small sun and the steady hand of a surgeon. I had to move it under direct lighting before trying to capture it. And don't even bother with automatic mode, it doesn't work under normal conditions.

Have to say I would really have been pissed off if I paid retail price for such a piece of junk! App is the worst excuse for programming EVER! I did better with an Atari 400 than these people have. Sorry your camera cuts everything out of image jot should change name to NOT. I'll go back to my trusty evernote this might be a good cribbage score keeping device if one played that game.

Y70%
by Y####:

If you haven't already. You are about to waste a bunch of time trying to get this lame-assed app to work. Spoiler ALERT - It wont. Even for $20 I expect it to work. Too bad the horrible app stops the device from being useful.

D70%
by D####:

Since no instructions came with the boogie board jot 8.5, I assumed instructions would be included with the app... nope. Just an "automatic" or "manual" setting. Even with "auto" setting, nothing happens. According to the packaging I should be able to scan a note from the surface of the jot, make edits to the scanned image, save scans to my device or cloud service, and share handwritten notes... nope. I could get the same results from one of those waxed boards with grey cellophane over it.

Y70%
by Y####:

After reading all of the negative reviews here I was dissuaded from trying Jot and just used my smart phone's camera for occasional saves. Finally I decided to see for myself and I feel it does exactly what it says it does. I am an artist and use Sketchbook Pro on all my devices, but the boogie board is delightful to use for making quick notes, sketches, calculations, etc. It is amazing how many uses I have found for it.

F70%
by F####:

The board itself could be fun as a children's toy, but without the scan and save functionality it claims to have it's pretty useless as a note taking device. Since the app straight up does NOT do what it's supposed to do the whole thing is basically useless. This is definitely going back to Costco tomorrow

Y70%
by Y####:

Just got the new boggieboard. The app is such a disappointment the camara sucks!! The camara on my phone is better than your app camara. I constantly always get scribbles. It makes it frustrating and I shouldn't feel like I have to do so much work to get stuff things to work properly.

W70%
by W####:

This app works best in manual mode. The quality is poor but you can read what you have saved in Jot. The only issue is that at random the camera will not be able to focus. My camera works fine on my phone but when I enter the Jot app it sometimes will not focus. Fixing the focus issue would greatly improve the app and make it easier to use.

D70%
by D####:

Too long a process to get onto phone. The pic feature on the app is fun... Oh, and cut off makes no sense. It only saves a square? Why offer a rectangular writing space?

Y70%
by Y####:

As everyone has said, automatic scan never works. Manual scan ends up cropping the notes to the point you cannot make out what you wrote. This junk is better suited as a child's toy.

Y70%
by Y####:

No instructions came with it and it's description on the package made it out like it had more features than it does. When I go to take a picture, in manual or auto, I can't see anything on the screen. My phones regular camera is 10x way better. And to have to go thru that much trouble to try and to take a picture off a fake tablet is not worth it. This is just an overpriced battery operated doodle pad and I can only see kids using it. Not for adults or college students.

Z70%
by Z####:

I bought this for my kid to doodle in the car with. I didn't know you could save the scans so I tried the app and a few of the other reviews are right. The area scanned is only the exact center of the board. Will keep using the board for doodling.

J70%
by J####:

I agree with other people about bad quality on the picture. The Worse is That you cant share It with no other app SO you are stuck with abad quality Page.

B70%
by B####:

I'm so mad, just garbage. I'm trying to figure out if it's worth my time to drive to Costco, then stand in line for an eternity to bring it back for $20 or just let my 5 year old wreck it. Don't unbox this junk.
