* INTRO
Llama uses phone masts to determine your location, so that you can change your ringer, vibrate and ringtones depending on where you are as well as the time of day. Llama provides you with sound profiles so you can quickly switch between quiet, loud, silent and normal sound settings. You can set your family, partner and children to ring even if your phone is set to silent! You can create events and home screen shortcuts to manage your sound profiles and more:

-Silence your phone at work
-Turn your Bluetooth on ready to connect your headset for a morning run
-Set your phone quiet when it's late at night and you haven't gone out
-Start the music player when a headset is connected

Llama can also do:
4G
APN
Accounts Sync
Airplane Mode
Bluetooth
Car mode
GPS (before Android 2.3 only or Cyanogenmod)
Haptic Feedback
Kill Applications (also force-kill with root privileges)
Play, pause and other media buttons
Mobile Data (before Android 2.3 only)
Reboot
Run apps
Run shortcuts
Screen brightness
Screen lock PIN/password
Set Llama variables
Speakerphone
Screen on and off
Screen timeout
USB storage
Vibrate
Wallpaper
Wifi
Wifi hotspot
Wifi sleep policy

Create events based off:
Airplane mode
Battery level
Bluetooth devices
Calendar events
Car mode
Charging
Day of the week
Current locations
Headset
Llama variable
Music playback (stock Android only, requires third party developer support)
Phone start up and shut down
Screen on and off
Time of day
Wifi networks

NOTE: Since GPS is not used, the location tracking is limited to the number of phone masts in your area. This will work best if you live in a populated area. If your home and work are covered by the same phone masts, you can try using the experimental Wifi-based location tracking. If that still doesn't work, you can remove the enter/exit conditions to make time-based profiles.

* IN-APP PURCHASES
IAPs are only for donations if you like using Llama. You are not forced to use them, and if you do choose to donate no changes actually happen in the app

****
* COMMENT RESPONSES/RANTS
I can't reply directly to your comments! If you vote 1 star, please say why, otherwise I can't fix it. Please email me about any questions, bugs and suggestions!
- Jelly Bean DOES NOT have a system volume anymore! Don't expect Llama to change something that doesn't exist! Blame Google.
- If it Force Closes, please email me the /sdcard/Llama/LlamaLog.txt
- Don't blame Llama for the lack of your operator's phone masts in your area. You can still use Llama with the experimental location methods, or time-based events

****
* PERMISSIONS
-Read your calendar (aka 'Your personal information') for any calendar conditions you set up
-A bug/feature of Android means Llama also has to have the write calendar permission, but it doesn't actually write anything nor send invite emails
-Your accounts so it can run an account sync if your events say so
-Write to your SD card to import/export your area, events and profiles, and to write error logs
-Call-state and read contacts to let you choose which of your contacts can still ring even when silent
-Llama DOES NOT have internet permission. Your data isn't going anywhere
-This app uses the Device Administrator permission. You will be prompted for permission when using the Screen Off or Lock Screen Password actions
-This app uses Accessibility services. You will be prompted for permission when using the App Notification Icon conditio

I tried to like it, but it just doesn't work for me. My home and work profiles are 2 miles apart, and use some of the same cell towers. I found my phone going from silent to normal spontaneously. I know you can lock the profile, but if you have to do that, what's the point of automation? Why is the location based only on cell towers, why not network/wifi based location? Or is that in the paid version? I'm not sure. I downloaded Tasker instead. Sorry. Tasker has never failed me.

Works perfectly - no more forgetting to put my phone on silent and being "that guy" in the office. --edit-- unfortunately since changing from an s7 Edge to a note 8 running Android 7.1.1, llama has stopped working. It detects the towers and changes profile, but the profile is not working as it did. Said it's o silent earlier, but it was ringing. Hopefully someone picks up this project and gets it working again. I would happily pay for a premium, working product.

Perfect again after downloading the addon! Been using this for years and just switched phone from Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge to Google Pixel 2 XL and my cell locations stopped working, all the cells are the same so therefore, it wasn't changing my profiles. As much as I didn't want to, I started looking for a new app especially since the developer hasn't updated the app in years. Luckily I found "Map addon for Llama" and I'm back in business. If you were like me, definitely install the addon!!

This app does exactly what you'd think! It doesn't use excessive battery or data or anything. As easy to set up as an app with lots of settings can be - Takes a little to work it all out but once the light is on everything works! I'd recommend it to all my friends! Only request is to customise the vibration pattern for texts. When I'm at TAFE it chirps quietly but goes *vibrates-desk-in-half* *Edit* Used on my Sony Z1 Perfectly Used on my Samsung S7 Perfectly

Takes a little bit to figure out how best to use it, but once everything is set, it's the most convenient thing ever! Just need a little patience, because it takes some tinkering around to get it to do exactly what I want. But once I got it down, I haven't had to touch the settings or volume controls in months!

for everyone who's facing issues with llama and lollipop, fret no more! chanced upon a update to the app on dev's personal blog - do a google search and it'll be one of the top few results. dev doesnt seem to be updating the app here but at least he's still issuing updates. great app, makees my life much easier. no worries when i'm in a commonly at location, i can set my phone to turn on/off silent mode, change several settings - i absolutely love it. far more accurate that IFTTT and less battery guzzling too. thanks dev!

For the first week or so with my new phone this worked amazingly. I don't know what happened, but it just sort of stopped working. It keeps jumping between unknown area and home(or work) so it doesn't stay silent. It had soooo much potential (I was trying to replace motorola's smartactions) but when it can't keep my phone on silent in the middle of the night or at work it just isn't acceptable. So I am uninstalling.

I used this app a while ago and liked it but needed to remove it. I installed it on my new phone and am now disappointed. The notification icon and profile always stay set to home no matter where I go. It detects the cell towers of other areas/profiles and when you open the app to the full list of profiles when you're in another place it will claim to be in the correct profile and say the correct profile is activated. But if you just reference the push notification icon the at the top, you will see that it never changes when it's supposed to and will always say that it's on the home profile. Please fix this.

I love the interface, especially the green and red color coding to show active profiles. Couple of important gripes 1. GPS control does not work. It works in tasker on the same phone, so there's a possible fix? 2. Major - does not have activity detection - i.e. walking, driving, cycling etc. This is very important for me. Will wait for the app to evolve.

Very capable, very powerful. It can do a lot from the get-go. If you have special ideas, you can deploy the Llama variables for more complicated action triggering. Update in 2016 September: Llama is still the best, even under Marshmallow Android 6.0.1 It works flawlessly on my Xiaomi Mi 4. If you want to use ‘active app’ trigger, then download the .apk file from the developer’s website. If, for some reason, you search for an alternative that similarly offers profiles capability, try #1 Profile - Auto Tasker.

I've been using Llama for five years now, and it has been my trustworthy companion the whole time. Anyone would appreciate how efficient it is - using barely any battery or RAM whilst running. Although I only use Llama to keep my phone on silent in important places, there has not been a scenario that it can't cover. For a while, I had it set up to turn off my WiFi if the phone was asleep and inactive. Look no further for all your automation needs, location based or not.

For few days I saw the recent tab was not automatically updated, therefore the event was not triggered as well. If I launched the even using test action, it can function normally. I looked at recent tab activities it showed updated at random time for every few minutes, but when I arrived at work it seemed the recent activities was stopped recognizing the cells activity, thus event that I set to be triggered when I at worked was not executed. I hope developer can fix this bug.

Had this app on my previous phone (running Lollipop) and it worked great! After upgrading my phone to a Marshmallow OS device, this app can't find or see cell towers for location based profiles. I know it has something to do with the "location ROM" in Marshmallow. Dev needs to find a workaround for this "bug". If he/she/they do that, it would be a 5 star app again.

T70%
by T####:

I use it to turn Bluetooth on and off when plugged into my vehicles, as well as turning off all notifications except phone, while I'm asleep. Also use it to enable and disable Wi-Fi depending on where I am, all to save battery! Works like a charm and much easier to program and use than apps like Tasker. But, it needs updates, which seemingly are not going to happen. Looks like it may have been abandoned.

by T####:

I used this app for years, it was terrific. However, hasn't been updated for >1 year, and has one defect on Lollipop & Marshmallow (Nexus 6): it can't detect available WiFi to add them to an area. So (for example) on KitKat I could add neighbors' WiFi networks to my "home area", so Llama knew when I was close to home.....can't do this any more. Contacted dev ages ago, no reply. I kept using it because everything else worked, but recently found another App (Automagic) that is kept up-to-date and can do everything that Llama can do (and much more). Spent a few hours "translating" all of my Llama "events" into Automagic "flows". Deactivated Llama, and tested Automagic for a few days - it is great. I've now uninstalled Llama. Given that it seems to be "abandonware", I can no longer recommend it.

Light wt, smart enough, always loyal to input settings, no adds, no crashes in few years. I can't say "I have a smartphone without Llama." Smartphone is not about specs but about smartness. Here you go, one of those smart tools. Want simple light sound profile? use the default settings without looking into detail. Don't understand, how to setup initials? Has a short learning curve to use this app! End result, you will not regret. Do you like coding? Use variables.

Works well for me. Changes ringer volume, screen brightness and Wi-Fi on/off depending on whether I'm at office or home or elsewhere. And for the records: the battery consumption is minimum among all location based apps I've tried so far. Update: doesn't work on oneplus 2. Location does not update. :(

T70%
by T####:

Can't praise this app enough. If you know how to use it, it becomes indispensable. Enables me to turn off Wifi and turn on data when I leave a wifi area. Keeps my data bill down. Has a ton of features which means it can be a bit of a steep learning curve, but once you have it figured out it is super useful.

Update2====Have had it for a year now, today it informed me that 19000 actions were performed in the past 365 days. All great! ==== Update ==== after 8 months, I can say again, this app works 100℅ of the time, accurately and with no excessive battery usage. Great app! ==== The app is free and without ads. It does not need to have access to the internet. Battery usage is minimal (haven't noticed it at all). It has worked 100% of the time in the past two weeks. I just had to donate! Keep it up, great job.

I've loved this app for years, it was just perfect and I thought it was about time I donated for the service it has provided, but before I did I updated to Lollipop. Now the location sticks so it just fails in its main purpose. On top of this due to Lollipop changes, it cannot bring the phone out of silent mode, nor turn data on or off. I could live with these issues if the location didn't stick and it could use another app (like Data Toggle). I emailed the developer, sadly no reply. Time to move on.

T70%

One of my favorite apps. I Spent a few minutes learning, then I let it mute when I'm at work or library, etc., then it turns sound on when I leave Those places. It shuts volume off while sleeping so notifications don't awaken me. It turns off battery draining functions when/where I know I won't need them, back on when/where I use those battery intensive features. And it doesn't drain my battery to do so. And there is way more stuff that it can do! Donated long time ago for this one! Never regretted it!

T70%
by T####:

Showing some age. It worked OK with lollipop, but seems to have more problems with marshmallow. Probably related to doze, maybe some other features. I paid for both Tasker and locale. This app is free and does the job of both. It is less tedious to use than Tasker and gives you a lot more control than Locale. It doesn't hurt my battery life at all and keeps my phone silent at work. This app could easily be priced at $10 and be worth it. Before you buy Tasker or Locale, try it out. If you like it, donate.

This app does brilliantly what it claims to do, provided your phone has only one SIM slot. In my dual-SIM phones I need to keep both SIMs active, otherwise Llama consistently reports that I am at home, no matter where I am. It never sees more than one mast, and it's the same one all over the country.

I have been using this application since 2013 and I like it so much! Unfortunately it is not working as expected on my new smartphone running on Android 6.0. Llama is working on background for several minutes and then the process is somehow killed. It would be great if you take care to fix this :)

T70%

I like using llama a lot, it doesnt drain my battery too much, although I don't use GPS for my location. I would like to be able to use WiFi to help determine my location, but I'm not sure how to do that. Also, I would love to see more use of texts & calls. For example, if you had 2 missed calls from the same person, it would turn your volume up. Or, if you weren't home & you had a missed call, you could set it to auto-respond with a text. If it had the texting & calling integration, I would give it 5 stars

EDIT: It appears that Llama is no longer working on my Motorola Droid Turbo. Wish the author would update it, as it WAS really useful... I would recommend this to anybody who wants to automate activities on their phone such as wifi on or off, or silence the ringer, or bluetooth on and off, and many, many more!

One of the most useful applications on Android I have ever installed. Been using it for years and really depend on it. So many options. Easy to get it to do exactly what your want it to do. Have seen some weirdness since updating to Anvroid v7 on my Nexus 5X. No real show stoppers. Just little nigglys like it changes states based on instructions but the icons and area names do not.

I have found so many useful things for this app. For example, when I connect it to my car, via Bluetooth OBD port, Llama activates Torque app, and sets the screen to full bright and always on. So awesome! I also have it set to go into very low power mode while at certain times and locations, normally when I know for certain i will not need the phone, has allowed my battery to last so much longer now. What a wonderfully useful app! Thanks!

Used to be 5 stars, and loved this app, used it for 2 years with my Galaxy S6. Now I have Pixel, and it looks like development on this app is dead. No longer working - not supported in Nougat as far as I can tell. The cell tower detection does not work, I get unknown towers, and a bunch of -1 values. Total bummer - I relied on this. Think I'll have to make do with a combination of built-in "rules" and something like Trigger.

Using on my new Nexus 5 on Lollipop. Works well. I use this app to control absolutely everything. This app puts the 'Smart' in smartphone. I have emailed the developer to ask about the new priority notification handling in Lollipop as I still get the odd email notification in the night, it doesn't actually fully silence the phone anymore. I'm sure it'll be adapted soon. 5 stars when sorted. Will still donate, I do every xmas.

Please update this for Android 5+!!!! >> 6 Now This app is the STILL ultimate tool for controlling your Android phone. It "learns" your common locations and configures your phone according to YOUR specifications. Turn on your wifi when you get home? No problem! Set to vibrate when you pull into the office? Easy! The obvious and more powerful alternative to "locale" Thanks for the recent update that fixes the SMS bug in the S4. I would pay for the upgrade/new version!!!!

This one is one of the oldest on offer ... but it is still by FAR the best! It has more features than you can poke a stick at. I like best that it interfaces with my calendar and automatically sets a quiet profile during any meetings. No other profiler does that. Also at night it turns on my airplane mode. The others seem to have problems with that. Thoroughly recommend.

I used it for about 2 years with no problems. Been very useful. But lately, last several months, it started to act weird. Changing profiles in the middle of the night, forgetting areas, writing unknown area in notification , and that unable to toggle wimax when trying switch 4g on/off ... Tried it on 3 different android phones. Same issues. Please patch/update! We need such an app :-/

Awesome app if it works - unfortunately with nougat update on nexus6p some functions are not working (set screenlock and update current profile in notification menu). Developer never charged for this app and I wish he would update and charge for it..I would pay for an update. If you're not on nougat everything should work fine and it is truly an awesome app if you like to really control what your phone does and automate a bunch of tasks that should be automated already.

This was an awesome tool before I upgraded my OS to Marshmallow, used it to automate everything on my phone, based on my location. Unfortunately, since the OS upgrade, LLama can't read out my cell information and because this, my profiles are useless. I hope an update will come soon to solve this issue (even I see less chance for this, as the last update was more than one and a half year ago).

This app worked ABSOLUTELY SPECTACULARLY with my Galaxy S3, so I was fairly enthusiastic when I upgraded to have this as one of the first apps loaded on my S5 (right alongside SwiftKey). As it turned out, for some reason, it doesn't work as well. The towers don't seem to detect as well, even though I'm in the exact same places. It frequently comes up with an unnamed tower in two different towns, changing my profile to normal randomly. Otherwise, I like the premise and the app actually works decently...

I've used llama for years. No app updates over the past year though, so maybe it's been abandoned? I recently updated OS to Marshmallow and now app doesn't seem to recognize when I've entered locations. Majority of my rules are location based. I wouldn't suggest this app until there's an update.

Still couldn't get it to work all the time, despite repeated "learning" of places, though I don't know if this is due to the triggers or the app itself.
