KanaCard free for Android
Even after studying Japanese for years, I still stumble over some of the kana (especially katakana), and need to look up the troublesome ones. But it seems like it is hard to find an app that makes it easy to check. This clean, attractively designed app does everything I need. You can view either all the hiragana or all the katakana on a single page, which means I can scan for the troublesome kana and see it in context with all the others. When you tap on a kana, you see the romaji and kana for it, and you hear a pronunciation of that kana. The cards include the combinations (kya, kyu, kyo etc.). Another cool thing is that the katakana card includes the newer katakana combinations and shows them in a different color so you know they are new. When you tap on one of these, you see the romaji and also an example of its use. The developer is active and responds quickly to requests. You can't go wrong with this app, especially for its very modest price.
