Phonograph Music Player for Android
It was working fine untill I updated my device to lollipop. Now, the playlists are automatically deleted. Can't edit tags and can't delete songs because it doesn't ask for the permission to write on SD card which is a primary requisite in Android 5 or above...... It works fine if I transfer all of my music to internal memory because it doesn't need any permission to write on internal memory.....Any reply from careless developers would be appreciated.....
Simple, beautiful, and the sound is truly amazing! No equalizer that I've discovered yet, but it doesn't need it. Another top rated app that I tried didn't sound as good no matter what I did with the equalizer, and it also would briefly cut out if I moved the phone suddenly - not what you want if you're going to be listening while walking, jogging or traveling. I just can't get over how crisp and clear my music sounds!
What happen to ur newest update? I just downloaded a song after I updated this app, then when I searched the song, it did not appear in the "recently added "folder, even if I went to the destination file itself or turn off/on my phone, it's still won't appear. Can u please fix this bug or whatever the problem cause I honestly like this app, I've been using this for almost a year already. Sorry for the review I made above, I guess it's fine now, I'm still using your app, I'm loyal and I love it!
Excellent great app. Very minimal, clear, organized. Wasn't expecting something like this when I downloaded it. I have had generally bad experience with music apps, something is always missing. Specially with the looks. But this is great. I would love if there were an equalizer though I use a separate app for that anyway, and more widgets as well, like Google play has with the shuffle all music widget, or playlist shortcuts. Nevertheless, five star from me. Because it's freaking clean.
I have recently bought an Oneplus 5 and the stock music player wasn't good for me! I have tried many music players but Phpnograph is my personal favourite! Surprised by the speed, the smoothness and also the editing possibilities you have! The best thing?? It is ad free. 10/10
The best music player I've found for playing my local collection. Interface is minimalistic yet full of features while following material design. I only had one issue where the tag editor won't work on m4a files downloaded using NewPipe, but that's not worth losing a star. Still works for other m4a files, among mp3s and the like.
Really great looking app and well made but lacks a major feature I need; chromecast support. Also there is a persistent bug where the notification shows a pause button even when my music is paused and therefore makes it so I can't swipe away the notification
Thank you very much this app is just great, nice design and very organized. The tag editor does not work on my Nexus 5 for some reason so it's kinda hard to brows my tracks. When I use the tag editor the track disappears from the app and seems to get corrupted in files. Is there anything I can do to fix this?
Sony Xperia Z5, Android 7.0. It's a very clean, user friendly interface. I love that last.fm is the source for downloading artwork. One thing I noticed was that every so often when it either moves on to the next song or I skip it, it will pause. Other than that, it's great. You've got some cola coming your way :)
The most materialistic music player, ever. Animations behaves as they're supposed to do. Last.FM and tag editor are a little buggy, but except them everything works almost perfectly. One thing I want to request is exporting playlists. Recently I had to recover my phone and I had no way to keep my playlists.
App is beautifully designed. Sadly, it fails to do the one thing I really need it to. The playlist function is ultimately broken. I spent hours recreating playlists from Poweramp in this app only to have them duplicate and empty themselves upon each phone restart. That therefore renders this app unusable for me.
I was going to write a lengthy true but I decided to keep it short and summarize it in a few points. 1. Great design and materialistic look, the UI is just amazing and the animations are eye candy. 2. It recognizes all of your songs in your library instantly, no need to go through menus and add them manually. 3. Easy to use and navigate, everything is well put together. Overall it's a great music player that should suit a lot of people's needs when it comes to playing music, and it's FREE which blows my mind. I do wish for it to have a version of ANDROID AUTO, the app just feels like it was made to be used with it.
All in all, an amazing, minimalist music app! My only suggestion is that A. For some reason, the artist art for MGMT is broken and crashes the app. This needs to be fixed as it can cause a lot of problems. And B. Perhaps the addition of a way to sort albums, for example, in artist alphabetical order, instead of album. That way all albums are grouped by artist in the list :)
Well I used to love the app. Looks nice and it did it's job. Now it only does on of those things. For whatever reason when I go to an album and play a song, once the song is finished instead if going to the next song, it just shuffles the rest if the album for no reason. It's now impossible to listen to an album all the way through.
Its my Favourite music player.. But some problems there needs fix.. 1st one is even my Song repeat is off.. It play again and again .. But in notification showing player is paused.. Another issue is album art.. Its not showing accurate album art.. If there is an image in same folder where song is present.. Then that image comes up with that song in player.. And another issue is.. If i delete any song through this player.. That song comes again after some hour or later.. Like its newly added song
Edit: Notification still having issues not swiping away. Slick, smooth and sophisticated - the audiophile's dream. Issues with Nougat on Samsung S7; notification no longer changes to the full accent colour bar.
I love this app, have been using for months.Just two suggestions. 1.Provide an option to filter out audio files less than a specific size/length.I dont want my whatsapp audios and recordings to apper in my song list. 2.Please add fade-out effect while play/pause a song.
Never seen a tag editor so broken. I try to save changes to tags, but all that it says is "Scanned 1 of 1 files." Tag changes do not get saved. I granted all permissions, and my music is located in my SD card. Other functionalities are great, though.
As nice as this music player is, I'm having a bit of a frustrating time with it. It split the album Bloom into two sections because one had different metadata then the other. Now, the last two songs are the first two played. However, it is still a very full featured but minimal music player. It's easy to control and does what it says on the box.
I would give this a 5 was it not for the bugs plaguing the tags editor. Tried to change the art and it worked but the app refused to save the artist name... It's really annoying.
Works but has a problem which stops me from using it.. 90% of my album art will not show up. I tried clearing the cache. There needs to be a way to manually download album art. Its inconvienient because I like to pick the album with just a quick glance.. All in all it plays music well, i like the customability, but i would recommend you download this app and Pulsar, and see which one works best for you.
So I've been using this app for a while - easily the best music app out there. However, there's never a perfect app and I'd like to suggest a couple of improvements: - Android Auto support would be lovely - Cross-fade support - When adding a song to the queue, have it join after the songs you've added to play next, rather than at the end of the queue (like iTunes does)
I'm beginning to get irritated by this player. First, "VA" and "Various Artists" are deliberately hidden making it annoying to visit all the compilation albums on my phone, and "album artist" isn't even a recognised tag. Second, for songs I make a personal edit of, the corresponding album now has a duplicate that only serves my edit and the rest of the songs are in the other duplicate (the original). The Directories section doesn't seem to work well with .nomedia files.
This musical player is really fantastic, in my opinion the best on the play store, completely free, open source and working perfectly. The only thing that I would like to have is the possibility to play the music on the Chromecast, I hope it will be added in the future
Needs a genre menu. Please incorporate and will give 5 stars!!! Edit: Albums with various artists aren't fully supported. Not all artists show up in "artists" tab and albums are labeled with the artist of the first track. Nonetheless its still the best music player. Fix this and I will give 5 and consider donating.
After using the Google Play Music app since I started using Android, I must say that this is the better app by a long shot. It's functional, clean and does everything that I need it to. After updating to Android 7.0, I haven't noticed any problems with the application. While on 6.0, when the playing queue finished the final song, it would loop and start over and also crash the app so I couldn't pause it. Other than that, I can't recommend this player enough!
I find the google music player useless. So thankfully after moving away from my Xperia I found dis app. All in all a very apt music player. Love d interface.
Everything is so damn fine but one thing just ruins it.. If you rearrange your Playlist while a song in it is playing.. Then playing order of the whole app is affected.. Nothing plays in order anymore, it's like permanent random.
Finally found a great music player i liked but of course it had something wrong with it, when using the player i noticed my photos being put on the covers of music for some reason. It doesn't really affect the player but it is very annoying and can't see why you cannot release a simple patch for this problem.
Who need Google Music? Now I know why Euclidean OS uses this app meanwhile it looks similar with eleven (stock CM music player). Nice customization, the dark theme, blur album cover, blah blah blah, light and smooth. That's enough for me.
Favorite music app with two huge problems. For some music files, it freezes on the beginning so it sounds like the music is pausing and playing randomly. The other one is potentially dangerous, sometimes when i play a file, it jumps to Max volume for a very quick instant in the beginning. Depending on the headphones, it can cause a headache, my earbuds mainly give my ear drums a very nice shock that i definitely enjoy (sarcasm). If this could get fixed, that'd be great. And it's not the issue of the files, my computer plays the same files perfectly.
"Lockscreen playback controls", uh, it doesn't even show up on my lockscreen? Am I doing something wrong? O.o
I can't do clear playlist and play the folder with just one tap. I need to first clear the queue and then play next. Annoying.
My biggest problem is the equalizer, why can't it use the same one as every other app? This one doesn't work and doesn't have genre specific presets. Other than that it's beautiful
The best music player for android. Highly customisable clean material design look. ❤️ Feature request: It would be great if you could disable/remove my top tracks and history (in the playlist tab). Some people like me just want to setup our own, and don't need to know what songs we've been listening to. Also if it could have a dark opening animation if you use a dark theme
Completely Amazing, everything I've been looking for in a music player. From the amoled display theme option to the overall beauty and minimalist design. Thanks to the developers. really appreciate the work and effort put into the development of this app, although i noticed the player does not recognise .wma extensions which is quite sad as many songs are in that format
I tried this app because I wanted a different sound and equalizer options than my default music app. But this app connects to the default equalizer only. Very disappointed with this. Ui looks nice and other options are great for a free app. But disappointed with the lack of independent sound modification options.
The Tag Editor was working great before but after the update once i try to grab an album cover from last.fm and save changes the album cover disappears and everything i edited (title, artist, album) reverted. when i try to edit it again, the info i put is still there but when i save it, nothing changes. pls fix! thank you!
No matter what, I always come back to this music player. Doesn't take up too much space and nice design unlike Google Music Play. Only issue is my phone claims it's battery consuming. I also wish there was a way to manually change artists' images but that's just a suggestion. Other than that it really is a great app.

The best third party music player available on the play store. Very minimal looking and customisable application. The colours is really cool. Excellent application. I've tried all the other third party music apps, but nothing compares to this. I've tried pi player, black player, even stock google play music, OnePlus music app, not one is as comfortable as phonograph. The folders option is amazing. You can switch between the library view and folder view. Good job.
