About JVC Music Control

JVC Music Control is a music player application that allows you to select a song from a variety of list; for example, playing songs in the mood playlist to meet your mood of each day.
Connecting your Android device to your JVC car audio receiver via USB allows you to control playback of the songs in the Android device from your JVC car audio receiver.

‣Mood playlist function
JVC Music Control analyzes the melodies of songs in your Android device to create a playlist according to your mood.
If you are in a mood for listening to powerful songs today, you can select a playlist of songs classified as mood "Powerful".
For example, the mood "Powerful" may describe your state of mind when you want to listen to powerful songs.
Songs are analyzed and classified into the following categories of moods: High Energy(Active,Powerful,Core), Acoustic(Detailed,Simple,Smooth,Easy), Standard(Dynamic,Rockin,Vivid,), Stylistic(Cool,Urban,Trance).

‣Intro skip function
The beginning of each song is played about 30 seconds and then skip to a next song. After analyzing the song, the impressive part of a song will be played instead of the beginning of a song.

‣Control from your JVC car audio receiver
Connecting your Android device in which this application is installed to your JVC car audio receiver via USB allows you to control from your JVC car audio receiver: for example, searching for a song in the Android device by artist name or album name.

Create your favorite playlists to enjoy music whenever and wherever you want!

*To use the mood playlist function,
you need to analyze songs using the following procedure:
Press the MENU button on your Android device select "Preference",
and then check the "Background analysis" checkbox.

*To enable control from your JVC car receiver, you need to select "Output right now" or "Auto output" in the "Preference" to output the song information.
After connecting your Android device, you need to set the USB storage mode to ON.

Updates have improved this app and some aspects work well now. However, still a number of annoying traits. Such as if the radio is on, will automatically switch To Bluetooth so have to switch back. Just leave mode where it was!

The moods feature are pretty good, love it. The only reason i download this is for the mood feature only. But i have to analyze every single song manually. Fix this problem so i can analyze all the songs at the same time and I'll give you 5 stars

U need a phone running an older version of android for it to work. Unless you still have the mass storage option it won't work

V70%

No s3 support, doesn't pause for phone calls. Won't pull up usb menu, just goes bluetooth. Poor app. Decent head unit

X70%
by X####:

Revised my original 1* to 5* when new JVC head unit worked with new phone. Also note this is the only music player I found which played music from my s3 without clipping or stutter. However didn't work with original JVC KD-R541E and Samsung S2. via USB.

X70%
by X####:

App is very unintuitive. Appears to only play one of my music tracks and there is no obvious way to change from medias player to listen to the radio. App says that there are gestures but they only work on one of the app screens and I only managed to find that once. I just can't find it any more. If I want to listen to my music via USB, I have to connect my android phone to a windows PC first and run a utility. Well, I've managed to make the break up from Windows to Ubuntu, so I can't do that anymore. Worthless. I'll go back to sticking a USB stick in the front port of the car stereo I think.

Jvc are a disgrace and so are Halford for misselling will be making complaints. As the way they have it too work has not been part of android for 3 years we use mtp no use storage.

The app sucks, and I couldn't manage to get this app, my S3, and my JVC work! Why don't they give a firmware upgrade to the unit to work with both ios and android?

N70%
by N####:

Does not work at all. Head unit says cannot play...won't even work like a flash drive; even my 5 year old stock headunit could could do that! If JVC is going to make headunits that only work with Apple, why not just put the Apple connector instead of USB?

Doesn't even install the file in the root of the card. can't get it to work at all. Oh well. Switching brands.

Used a regular connection from GS3 to USB on JVC KBR-540 Radio/CD Player. Response: Reading, Cannot Play. So I tried the "regular" cord that came with GS3 from Verizon, same response but this time Android said,"Connect Android to Windows PC and execute JMCHELPER.EXE. So whatever that message means I'll try to investigate, but there is no help on this problem anywhere. I'll search the internet. The KBR-540 plays songs OK from a regular FlashDrive that contains songs I've dragged and dropped over. Then you just hit the "Forward" button on the KBR-540 to cycle through the songs, you can't select what song you want by reading them, you just have to plow through them until you find what you want. This is probably OK if you're driving cause you shouldn't be studying a song list anyway. So far, not happy with JVC Music Control App and how to configure it or what is needed to configure it. You're basically on your own. 12-20-2013

Lets kids stream MP3s to the car stereo from the back seat with their tablet. Works over USB or Bluetooth. Even syncs with the factory stereo in our 2015 Kia Soul via Bluetooth. With this app, who needs radio?

I've looked all over my phone and even the root directories and there is no jmchelper.exe, this is the only reason I bought the head unit, going Sony next time

- Got this to connect via Bluetooth. Sound is a bit muddy, and hums while not playing music, and you take a call it gets weird and tinny... - The OnePlus One will not play via USB, it connects says "connected as Mass Storage Device" but won't play music. - The WORST part is the deck wont even CHARGE via USB even though it knows its there. That really sucks, I have extra wires and a 12V charger running now (and crappy Bluetooth sound). - Not having the "JMChelper.exe" as a download on the JVC site is unthinkable for a big company like this. Should have been fixed day 2. No one is going to download an .exe from anyone but JVC... but they don't have it. REALLY DUMB. PS. to the a$$hat(s) calling people stupid for not getting this to work... why not post something helpful? Tips, or short form How-to... nope. shows who they are...

My JVC wish list! Have head unit which links to iPhone via Bluetooth. Wish list a way to link my tablet music via Bluetooth and be able use voice and all of the head unit controls. Now THAT is smart!

It says a file must be run on a windows machine (jmchelper.exe). File doesn't exist. Followed the one line trouble shooting advice and nothing. I have an HTC DNA and it would be nice if the file was offered as a download online. When I can use this app, I'll change my rank.

Pure crap, doesn't support devices that run MTP so that rules out s3/s4/note 2....... Rooted to allow mass storage mode and it really wasn't worth the effort for this app. Uninstalled

Bought a new jvc deck to play songs from my Android device, turns out it "Can't read" it and jmchelper can't be found either. Do not buy jvc/Kenwood!

This app does not work if you own a HTC One. The stereo displays a message that it cannot read the phone.

I get "no valid drive is found" when I run kmc helper. Bought kd-640 to run Pandora from my phone the head unit wont recognize my device. Pls add support for more android OS phones. Btw for those who can't find kmchelper.exe it should be seen on your phones card after pluging into your computer.

Almost all of the 1 star reviews I've read are written by idiots who don't/can't understand how to sync their phones with the stereo. One idiot even goes as far as saying JVC should be charged with fraud... For what dumbass? Maybe you should realize that maybe you're just too stupid to figure it out. I have had zero problems with any of my devices. Idiots!

C70%
by C####:

I'll admit, not having the jmchelper tool available as a download is stupid. Sad to say, most of you are to. I spent 30 seconds on my phone, and I found jmchelper.exe just sitting in the app data. Honestly, it surprises me that you get mad at your lack of basic skills, blame JVC and then swear to never buy a deck again. Y'all are just to dumb for your own health.

Bought the JVC KD-R541E expecting it to work alongside my Samsung S2 via USB. What a disappointment. The radio reads and plays a USB stick fine and even more annoyingly seems to work well with my son In law's iPOD. However as I am not an Apple fan I need a working Android App. I wish JVC would fix this and make a lot of Android users happy. I'll change my review if and only if JVC fix the problem or I find a solution. Very poor from such a major brand.

On my Xperia Z, the app serves no purpose : there is no way to get the jmchelper.exe file (if one of you has it, share it). When the phone is plugged to my stereo (in storage mode), if the sd card is mounted by the stereo, then all I get is the folder structure like a USB stick would, and JMC sees no data, and if I dismount it, JMC will see the files but the stereo won't play anymore. In short, a broken app. The Kenwood version is evrn worse : "Output right now" and "Auto output" are disabled.

V70%
by V####:

Not sure why people who think this works have to be so hateful. It does not work with stock S4. If your stereo has bluetooth then you may think it's working. Just a useless app if you have BT.

G70%
by G####:

Won't work with my GS3. App launches, but I get a cannot play message when plugging into my stereo. Unable to find the (jcm?)help.exe either

I downloaded this app whenI I installed a Bluetooth-capable JJVCstereo on my car. It isn't necessary and doesn't work well. Every playlist I used with it vanished mysteriously, just selecting to play your library at random is near impossible, and the big kicker is that after you close the app, it will randomly start playng when you wake up your phone. Nothing like having Godflesh start blasting all of a sudden in the middle of a business meeting. No thx.
