This app is garbage!! Way to go Kenwood!! We're you drunk when you put this together...? It has no way to select a folder and keeps going to my ACR Recordings... Was so excited to have a new stereo by Kenwood... Should have went to Walmart and bought their garbage for what this app is worth...

Q70%
by Q####:

Totally and utterly unfit for purpose. I want to control my music from my stereo; this is supposed to enable that and it doesn't. So many glitches it's unreal and would take forever to list them all. Stops working for no apparent reason. Works for a time, then lets me down. Come on Kenwood; you're clever boys and girls. Can't be that hard to produce a working product. But then, I've already paid for my stereo and this app is free. So why would they go to the trouble and expense?

D70%
by D####:

Piss poor. Makes my phone lag tremendously even to the point of making other applications crash. That's telling me its using too much ram and I have a high end android device as well. Kenwood should listen to the reviews.

Q70%
by Q####:

Worst music player app I've ever seen. It just starts playing music from my library with no controls, no list of songs to choose from, and no ability to create/play a playlist. I can use the controls on the unit to play/pause, next track, previous track, but still no way to see a song list or chose a playlist. I'll be trying a different app.

Q70%
by Q####:

Seriously Kenwood? I plug into USB and the Kenwood app automatically starts playing some horrible elevator level music installed with the app with no setting to turn this off. Did a 10 year old kid make this app? Hope you update soon with an option to turn off autoplay otherwise I'll throw my car stereo in the bin. Unbelievable!

Q70%
by Q####:

Simply does not work. If I could give zero stars I would. Possibly the worst app I've ever used. Thankfully I'm in a rental car and it's bad enough to make me never but a kenwood

Q70%
by Q####:

Buy a used car and it has a kenwood stereo, plug my phone in and it tells me to install this app, soi do, and it's not registering a device at all. Complete waste of time. Guess I need a new stereo that's not a bloody kenwood.

Q70%
by Q####:

Does not work with my galaxy s7 edge, usb glitches and says android error on the deck... my wife's s6 edge works fine in hand mode.. where is the follow on support first kenwood car stereo, kinda disappointed..

Q70%
by Q####:

Absolute garbage. The developers should be ashamed of themselves for releasing this abomination. DO YOUR JOB AND FIX THIS! I paid good money for my radio and I expect to be able to use it properly. Worst app ever.

Q70%
by Q####:

One of the worst apps ever made! Gave me a nonstopoing error message FORCING me to install it, even allowing it to control all my media files. As the default player, it has minimal features at best, unlike other far superior players such as Player Pro.

Q70%
by Q####:

Allows the music to play nice and more clear off my phone compared to regular use music aps playing threw my radio but it's so basic you can't even scroll threw your library as it only supports control from the head unit. A missed opportunity to have this and your head unit complement eachother by extending feature and function of the radio

Q70%
by Q####:

Could you please make this compatible with more Lenovo/Motorola phones, including the Moto X Pure Edition? Also, as long as it's NOT compatible, could you please get rid of those mandatory prompts when you plug in the USB to either install the app, or if I do install it anyway to get rid of that first annoying prompt, to get rid of the prompt to use it? (I plug in the USB mainly to keep my phone charged since my cigarette lighter socket failed.)

Q70%
by Q####:

Got it installed just so I can use other music app to play music in kenwood car player. This app is terribly need improvement. Connect it will automatically play song in phone, without any other option. I don't even get to change the song.

Q70%
by Q####:

Wrks ok... But cant leave the phone connected to run in the store. When i come bk it doesnt read my phone. Says "android error". Cant make phone calls either using the remote.

R70%
by R####:

If I could give this app zero stars I would. It crashes instantly after plugging my phone into usb, and for the second it does play the sound is distorted..

Q70%
by Q####:

On Note 5, errors out if attempting playlists. Can only alphabetically go through entire library. Supports Galaxy Note 2 and 3, but not 5? Sad. Expecting support for flagship phones is not asking a lot. This is the ONLY app which has ever frozen my phone. Thank goodness the Kenwood unit has an analog plug!

H70%
by H####:

I really don't get the point of the app. I can just use an AUX cable. My Galaxy S5 just glitches when I plug it in. Plus, when I text while music is playing, mt music seem to skip or increase playing speed. Help me Kenwood make since of the app. If it does something other than play music like my AUX cord, let me know. And please don't say skip songs using the radio...that sucks too

Q70%
by Q####:

Has no controls or settings, making the app useless unless you love browsing through your whole music library using the tiny radio screen. Very glitchy too.

J70%
by J####:

It never connects. I have a Samsung Galaxy connected to an excelon head unit via USB and nothing much happened. The head unit just flashes "reading" and the app says it's not connected. Lame

Q70%
by Q####:

It doesn't work. Is is it because there has to be music on my device? Because I should be able to Spitify to plat through here and I have no music files. That should be explained if that's the case. Kenwood needs to be smarter about this.

Q70%
by Q####:

Absolute garbage all it does is automatically play my voicemails and that's it and nothing else. I'm changing from S7 Edge to a S8 + next week so will see if that works but I'm not holding my breath. Just looked on the Kenwood list of smartphones that is suppose to work and basically your Samsung device has to be 3 years old to work with this so it's good to know that Kenwood are working around the clock to add and update new devices.

K70%
by K####:

Trash trash trash.. upgraded my phone to android s7.. does not work. ..at all on my kdc-165u. But it worked with my old galaxy s5... Kenwood you should be ashamed.

Q70%
by Q####:

Always says it's not connected to a device when I have it directly plugged in through usb. No matter what I do it never connects. Complete garbage.

X70%
by X####:

Use kenwood music control. Or better, set your radio to hand mode, and then just use your built in music app that comes with most android devices. Make sure it already has your Playlist loaded, that way you don't accidentally get ring tones and alert noises as well. Once the car is on, as long as hand mode is set on the radio, it should automatically start playing your tunes. You really don't need either app, but that other app is alot better than this one so give it a shot.

This app simply does not work. I plug my phone into the USB connector and my phone gets very glitchy. There's all sorts of sound feedback and echoing when I try to adjust the volume or change tracks. Luckily the bluetooth connection on my receiver works perfectly fine so I don't need to bother with this pos app.

X70%
by X####:

Can't use the app because it does not support the Samsung Galaxy S6 yet (hopefully soon). Couldn't give neutral rating but will update rating as soon as the app becomes useable. Only installed the app because I plugged my phone up to my new Kenwood KDC-X599 and my phone brought me here.

R70%
by R####:

4/6/16 - Since the release of android marshmallow ive no longer been able to get this app to work, hopefully this will be fixed soon. 2015- Little slow to get use to at first but the functionality of this app is great, and further improving the already great experience with my new Kenwood kdc-x500 headunit. Other reviews make me think they don't know how to use the app, research a bit.

W70%
by W####:

The last galaxy phone this app supports is the s5, per the compatibility index on their site. The KDC-BT765HD sold me because it said it has android compatibility through this app, but this app doesn't work with my galaxy s7 edge. It's apparent that KENWOOD won't update the app for new phones. I'm very disappointed in the app (love the radio), and I'll be switching BACK to iphone, as listening to music in my car HAS to be seemless for me. It's apparent that KENWOOD really just does not care about android.

X70%
by X####:

I chose kenwood because of the Android compatability. Turns out the app doesn't work. It actually connected for a second before the phone notified me of abnormal charging. I let this continue for a second, charging, not charging. Spotify played for a minute before the receiver lost connection. At this point the app crashed. Considering returning my new kenwood stereo. Galaxy s6 curve +

X70%
by X####:

I have a Motorola droid Maxx 2. It interfaces with the Kenwood receiver with almost no problems , the only thing that I found is when streaming Pandora the song information does not display, it says "reading". If I switch to bt audio the song info appears, but I can't do thumbs up/down.

X70%
by X####:

Followed the instructions, checked if my phone was "compatible" .. except the phone list is out of date just like the app. Don't waste your time. Just use the Bluetooth Connection instead

C70%
by C####:

It works most of the time but every now and then it will only play one song on repeat and will continue playing from the phone once the vehicle/unit is off... have to restart my phone to stop it from doing this... as convenient as it is and it does work a majority of the time I feel there is a bug/glitch somewhere in the programming causing this and should be addressed.

X70%
by X####:

It does not play. I changed my YDB connection from charging to acessory. It shows on my screen that music is playing but sound never comes out. I turn up media and on th3 kenwood stereo and still nothing.

X70%
by X####:

Got a kenwood ddx573 and it shows whats playing on screen, but never actually played. Pressed skip and it seemed like the song was playing very fast. Never heard anything though. I dont need to spend money on a radio and then that app for ot to play the music wont work. Was ot even tested on this radio!?

O70%

Does nothing bar play music from my phone in completely random order. Cannot select what to play at all, no problem on connecting from my lg g3 with 5.1 software. If not for it charging my phone i may as well just use the aux jack! Thats only reason i give it two stars!

U70%

Supposedly this is the only app I can use to connect my Galaxy phone to my Kenwood car stereo - BUT the app doesn't initialize!! It doesn't work with Android 6.0 AND Kenwood reps say there are no plans to update the app.

X70%
by X####:

This app allows your phone to reproduce any sound using the radio unit. You don't have to use the app interface. Press home bottom to keep the app running on the background then you can use your phone's music player or Spotify to play songs with the difference that the sound will come out through your car's speakers!

Z70%
by Z####:

This is frustrating. Does not work with my DDX384 and Galaxy S7. App hasn't been updated in a year and no mechanism for support. Worked fine with old Galaxy S4. When will app be updated to support newer models?

The Bluetooth on the deck is all you need. This app doesn't come close to complimenting the features already in the deck itself.
