KENWOOD Smartphone Control

I hv a LG V20. Runs on Android 7.0. I bought a usb c to HDMI 3.1 cable. First time I connect, it didn't work. It displayed my phone screen but can't control the phone from dnn991hd head unit screen. Then I restarted the car and login as guest, redo the setup. It worked this time. So I was happy. But the kenwood smart phone app stayed active on my phone even after I disconnected from the head unit. Couldn't kill it even with task killer. So I uninstalled it. Today, I wanted to mirror my phone again. I did the exact same steps for setup. Now the screen calibration is greyed out and no display on the head unit when my phone is connected. This app is so buggy. Pls fix it.

Worked before in my old samsung galaxy s4. Then I upgraded to a s5 and now it won't connect me anymore. Always says connection pending. What a joke. And a waste of my 2 year free subscription. How can you ask people to pay after the free term expires.

Does not work with S7 collaboration screen is greyed out. I go to apps on deck and it's a black screen PLEASE FIX ASAP!!! This app does NOT work with my DNX571HD Please get us a firmware update to work with Galaxy S7

Update for all the guys having trouble getting their Galaxy S7 normal or edge working. Mine initially didn't work with direct cable connection. Works a treat now I brought the KCA-WL100 wireless dongle. The key is to update the firmware first via a wireless network within range at your home. Absolutely worthless on the Galaxy S7. Ask for accessibility, then goes to opening screen with a check box on "Allow Connection" and greyed out "Screen Calibration" and that's it. Waste of time. Seems Kenwood is having trouble keeping up with one of the TWO most popular phones in the entire world. Thanks for nothing. Checking out Pioneer...

I just installed a new Kenwood DDX24BT on my car and is compatible with this app but the app doesn't work. I did everything to make it work and nothing. I really wish an update will be done to and hopefully that will fix the problem.

Always bought pioneer in the past and never had a problem but because of this app thought I'd give kenwood a go, the ability to legally use maps ect on the go wireless but after hours of different settings and changes still doesn't work...

I set up all the things the way they say to in the videos. It could be my hdmi/mhl cable but I doubt it. I have the kvt-7012bt. Says it's compatible. Everything is set up correct and it still doesn't work. Is it just not compatible with my phone? Also when I click hdmi/mhl on the radio it says no video signal. (I do have a cable as well as the smartphone control app and have already tried resetting the radio). Thanks to anyone who can help.

800 dollars later, no mirroring. Should have gone with Pioneer but I'm stuck with this.

Works perfectly with my Galaxy S4 and DNN991HD, but required a third party cable from StarTech. I couldn't get a connection using the recommended Kenwood cable no matter what I tried. Connected immediately with the MHD11PMM3M cable and has worked well since. Not sure if the Kenwood cable I had was defective or not.

Incompatible with so many modern phones , don't see their sincerity to upgrade their software stability to compete with Pioneer.

It works. I have Kenwood ddx9703s/Droid Turbo2/miracast dongle (cheap one). Very difficult to set up, but it works pretty well once you figured it all out. I suggest you watch every YouTube video you can find on it.

Yet another garbage app from Kenwood! They should focus on one app and make it work?

Lame gimmick. Won't connect at all. What gives? Would love to see this app actually function.

Kenwood has literally ZERO CREDIBILITY. This app quit working after the Android Marshmallow update in the Spring of 2016. I have a Kenwood DDX-9702, a Kenwood 4 channel amp, 10 speakers (with 2 subwoofers), and even a Kenwood Backup Camera, and a Samsung Galaxy S6 android smartphone. When the required Android Marshmallow update occured, this App ceased working. Kenwood knows this renders my DDX9702 USELESS. Kenwood posted they knew of the issue and they were working on it, 4 MONTHS AGO. It will not connect to Android Auto, which is the primary reason anyone bought the overpriced DDX9702 to begin with. Kenwood's answer to these issues.......wait for it.........they came out with the DDX9703, even though it was 3 months late to market. So, what was Kenwood's answer to customers who purchased the DDX9702 as to what the status is......NOTHING. NOT WE ARE SORRY (which they are) NOT WE ARE GOING TO REPLACE YOUR NON WORKING HEAD UNIT........NOTHING BUT SILENCE. You people leave me hanging with a non working unit and will not even give me a courtesy response. Shame on you. How dare you.

ALthough I havent used the app yet. Im giving it the benifet of the doubt it will work because half of you complaining are not even using a compatible phone since any samsung galaxys after #5 don't work and im sorry but I thought that was common knowledge.

I have a DNX893S and love being able to control my Samsung S4 phone from my Kenwood receiver! There was a free firmware update that Kenwood just posted a few days ago that allows all of their 2016 HDMI equipped receivers to now work with this app. The touchscreen response with my capacitive touch screen works great!

Doesn't work with Samsung S7. Great idea lousy execution. If Kenwood spent some time in the app, updated, and supported it then it could be a good product.

Your s7 is not compatible with hml the latest phone for Samsung is the note 5,7,and 8 when it is released. Also s3 is compatible

To everyone with an S7/Edge - Reinitialise your Bluetooth in the head unit settings. I found fixed the connection problems. Works with S5 also.

Have two Samsung phones, not available for the s6 active and doesn't work with s7 and a ddx9902s receiver

Tried using this with my 2016 Pixel XL. Comes up as unsupported device. Updated the firmware on the unit to the most recent version available but still not working. Should have bought the Sony Head unit.

Only connected with my LG G3 on the every first time when I switched on the ddx7015bt headunit, and it will not reconnect in the second attempt. The touch point wasn't accurate too and the screen calibration didn't help. Please fix this.

Just upgraded my old kenwood to a DDX5015BT purely for the android connectivity. I can only use Bluetooth for calls only. Screen won't connect even when using MHL cable. Samsung S7. Can't even play my music through it like the old one. Wasted my money on the upgrade. Seems like everyones S7 doesn't work update required.

What's all this? I buy specifically a car radio based on the feature that enables me to control it remotely from my phone, and Kenwood supply about 50 different apps, none of which do anything at all! Won't connect, won't offer any control... Waste of time and money.

That's the prompt we get both after trying on an LG G2 and Galaxy S6. G2 was running 6.0 and S6 was 5.1.1. We enabled accessibility, both devices are mhl compatible. There was nothing else to do to make this work. It stopped me from buying a Kenwood deck. Thank God I tried this on a store demo (692 and 9902)

Not ready for prime time. It will connect with a HTC One M7 but is buggy and slow ,It wont work with the 6p at all , pretty useless really, also Nexus devices need a build prop edit to mirracast with the wifi dongle

Haven't had any problems. Updated to 6.0 last night and it still works. I use miracast instead of the Kenwood dongle. Slimport works as well.

Can only get Waze on it and even then it won't calibrate the screen properly, can't access any other apps at all and it won't access the drop down menu!!!

Done everything I can think of but it won't connect when trying to do wireless mirroring... Please help

Please follow the instruction manual that came with your head unit in tandem with this app. If you have patience and are capable of following instructions, app will work as designed. It's simply brilliant. Great job Kenwood!

Overall the screen mirroring function work well, but problem with the screen calibration and lag performance after I disconnected it

HTC M8: Able to connect and view and touch the screen but the accuracy of the touch is hopeless!!!! Calibrated so many times and it still doesn't point to where i touch

Bought KENWOOD DDX715WBT, sadly does not support Samsung S6 or Is the other way around ?

Bought the ddx5015bt for the mirroring and found the S7 wont connect with the cable I now need to buy a wireless dongle - come on people lets update the stores selling your products???

They finally updated the app. It is now working with Android 6.0.1
