Metrolink for Android
Great app! I thought it wasn't gonna work due to very low ratings but it was actually fast, easy and a great way to speed up the process instead of waiting in line and not making the scheduled time of your departure. Overall it's a great app that deserves 5 stars.
1. What I like about the app: a) the convenience of not having to wait inline at the ticket machine, especially when a couple of folks ahead of you are fumbling around with the purchase while you see the Metrolink train light in the near horizon. b) the recourse when the ticket machine is out of service, which when that happens, it takes weeks to fix. Having an e-ticket is a way to avoid being hassled by the conductor or the fare inspector. 2. What I don't like about the app: I have an Android OS 5.0.2 smart phone. As of version 4.3.6 of the Metrolink app, the Metro rail scanner failed to read the e-ticket's QR code 11 out of 13 times. I haven't tried after that.
I bought the ticket before hand and headed out for next day. The ticket was expired. The design of process clearly has flaw.
The barcode doesn't scan to transfer to MetroRail
What happened to my saved cards? Now I have to reenter all card info each time I purchase despite checking save card Also would like to have more than two favorites on front page. Currently the page is not updating my favorites. A schedule and alerts would be nice. Uninstalled an reinstalled to see if that would help. All this did is tell me I was moving my tickets to a new device. Was same device. You should better recognize the same device. Reboot of phone corrected card issue. Edit:. I had to reboot my phone. Once I did this I was able save the card data after entering post reboot.
EDIT 1/4/2018: Used the mobile app and was able to transfer to the Metro with the new optical scanners that were installed! This app is going to save me so much time at the train stations now, great work! ORIGINAL REVIEW: Still waiting for Metro integration before I can get any use out of this app. I would love to use it as I despise the ticket machines at Metrolink stations...
App is garbage and doesn't load schedules, not even hooked to 5G WiFi.
Cannot buy a weekend pass. Cannot transfer tickets to the subway. Just suffer in the cold hour long lines and maybe miss the train over the inefficiency of this horrible form of transportation.
Don't stop its great don't stop doing what ever it is you do !
Wished I could buy the weekend pass with the app. Minus one star
It's an awesome app and hopefully it gets more better in the future.
Disappointed. You can not buy the ticket in advance (Metrolink kept the stupid behavior of ticketing kiosk), but still you have to activate it when you board the train. Even 7DayPass or Monthly Pass has to be activated daily. Even though you paid for it and you have it, if you board the train without activating it, is like not having it. Could it be more idiotic? I'll go back to paper.
No transfer to Metro. Can you let us scan and save the physical monthly pass into the App, so we don't have to take out our wallets to show the monthly pass.
Works like a charm!
Complete scam! If you buy the tickets at the kiosk in the train station, it's $10 for a round trip on the weekends. But if you buy through this app, it's $33.75. I absolutely will be taking measures to get my money returned. I do not recommend this app. Just pay at the station!
This app does allow you to purchase tickets, however it does link to the website for any options you may clock. I have to continually activate my 7 day pass, unlike the newest update saying I do not.
App did what it was supposed to do... Allow me to purchase my tickets. However, getting to LA Union Station and trying to get onto the subway... Failed! The machines are unable to read my ticket...I even tried many different machines... Nope same thing. This needs to get fixed, if it can't be, then I'll have to go back to doing the paper ticket.
what's the point of an app that just links everything to the website? I can just go to the website then without having to waste phone storage
It's o.k. but all it really does is just send you to the metrolink website. I could have done that without that extra step of having to open up the app and then having it send me there. Needs to be improved. I love Metrolink and riding the rails though ????
The app suddenly stopped working on mine and my girlfriends phones(different carriers too) . The train left without us while we were buying our tickets at the kiosk and wouldn't stop to let us back on. Don't become dependent on the app.
Not sure why some of the reviews says it links up to the website. It does not. It does what it suppose to do and make it easy to buy your tickets. I recommend it. :)
Very unreliable app in terms of connecting to the internet. Big problem if that's the only way you can buy a ticket.... and you need to buy it now.
Keeps saying error processing payment and I don't understand why
Can't purchase one-way tickets in advance.
Trash.. Takes you to website..
Does anyone know how to favorite my daily station? The app doesn't allow me to.
Can't even use it. Won't accept my password.
Really needs a schedule option..
Schedule information
I wanted the app so I didn't have to go to the website. What is the point of the showing all the links that will just take you to the website? I know how to open a browser and get there directly. The app just wastes my phone storage if it's just going to send me to website anyway. What a lame and idiotic app and an incredible waste of my time. Thanks.
This app seriously sucks. It will charge your card immediately after you input payment information without any indication it's about to do so. Now I have to wait 4-6 weeks to maybe get a refund on a ticket I didn't use.
The old app worked great... and I think for most this one will too. When it does work, it is very convenient. However, When I first downloaded the app, I had to log off then log back on before I could see my previously purchased ticket. Now I just purchased my first monthly ticket with this app, and it does not show in my ticket wallet. While the customer service is great, I am not look forward to explaining this error to the conductor while IT finds a solution.
App works great when I am running late and I need to buy tickets ASAP or ahead of time on the same day! The only downside is that Metro has not been able to implement a feature to use the app for transfers (e.g from Metrolink train to Metro transit rails or bus).
I would give it five stars if it gave us the ability to use it on the Metro light rail/subway lines. It's extremely convenient if I'm going to a Dodgers game but otherwise I have to wait in line and buy a ticket from the ticketing machine
The website says you can buy all types of tickets but my app only shows 7 day and monthly ticket prices. Why? Fix it
Its a convenient app. Despite getting the latest version, I still need to activate my monthly ticket for every ride. I thought it's meant to stay activated for the entire validity of the ticket after being activated once?
It's infuriating that Metrolink did not have the clear foresight to expect that people would stop buying regular monthly passes and other types of tickets and, instead, they ride for free almost every day because they now only buy tickets -- the least expensive, one-way tickets -- using the phone app, and ONLY WHEN they hear the conductor coming through checking tickets. What's worse, if these thieves haven't had a chance to complete the purchase by the time the conductor gets to them, the conductors give them time to finish making the purchase instead of giving them a citation. And then, because they have to find ways to recoup those losses, Metrolink raises the cost of the monthly pass every year for those of us who are honest and actually PAY FOR our commute. I think the app sucks because the cheaters who I see using it are costing ME money via more expensive monthly passes!!
Took me a while to understand that the app account and the MetroLink web account have nothing at all to do with one another.
METROLINK IS THE BEST

I was wrong! I take it back! This app is great. Monthly OC Line Passholders are able to easily board the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner and Metro trains with the barcodes in the app. The self-scanner on Metro rail is a little tricky at first, but once you get it, it's easy.
