Joy Health Tracker for Android
I absolutely love this app. It allows me to customize my macros daily which is great for carb cycling. All the foods are in the search and ARE accurate. If something is not there I am able to bar scan it. This app is 1000xs better than MFP!
I use it because of the macro calculation but honestly it's anything but a joy to use. Locks up all the time when adding foods. Adds minutes to every meal just waiting. Things I am disconnected from the internet while online. So wish there was a better option
Much better than MFP for tracking macros! You can cycle carbs too! Yes, the database is smaller than MFP, but entry accuracy MUCH better than MFP. You can give your recipes a total weight in grams too so you can weigh out portions! Also the dev is very responsive and helpful! He incorporated micronutrient tracking and the ability to save a food and return to the search vs your home journal if logging a meal. I keep returning to Joy to log my food, it's the best.
I prefer this over MyFitnessPal. The lack of clutter and ads is great. The affordable cost and ability to set goal marks for different days is great. Perfect for those who follow the LeanGains approach. The database is much better than before and I rarely get an empty result from the code scanner.
So much cheaper than MyFitness pal. Also much better than MyMacros+, as you can track in metric and imperial units. Allows high and low carb days, custom macro target setting and recipes too. Fantastic tracker - does require some up front effort adding in custom foods, but well worth it.
Expect it to work especially when you pay monthly, but there are glitches here and there. Most likely with the server that interfaces with the database.
As a replacement for My Fitness Pal, which I used for years, the Joy app provides me with a great interface and a superior food database .
Like that it calculates net carbs. Don't like that I can't add exercise , it doesn't deduct sugar alcohol, and I've never gotten a response from customer service.
I've been tracking macros for years and this has come to be my favorite app. The developer continues to make great additions and improvements.
Very effective for tracking macros, setting daily targets, and viewing progress. Uncluttered interface and instant sync to web interface are great features
Ideal app to track calories and macros if ypu follow the leangains protocol.
Fantastic app for straight to the point food tracking
Suddenly stops working after 30 days with no warning unless you pay. The only problem is they aren't up front about this. Besides that, the app has some nice? Unique features, but the interface is a bit slow and clunky. Not worth the price they ask... After a month... After implying it's free.
I've used Myfitnesspal, Mynetdiary, CRONometer, and Loseit extensively and this one is the best. All I need is a simple fast way to make food entries throughout the day without a lot of fluff or menus to navigate. Everything I've scanned has been accurate. New food entries are much easier & faster than the other systems, just scan, tap in the nutrient info, and it's right there for you to use. Web app is identical in design, unlike all the other apps. Plus custom macros & a responsive creator!
I've been using MyFitnessPal for quite a while now. The lack of options that it has (even after paying) is quite astounding. I would even go as far as to say it is a scam because Joy provides various options like allowing you to set the macronutrients to the gram without paying. Unlike MyFitnessPal, Joy has a much cleaner, easier to use interface than MyFitnessPal. Also, Joy has clear instructions for everything on it just in case you are confused with anything. These are only a few advantages to using Joy.
This app is so simple and so easy to use. It has every feature I want and need with no fluff. Even better, no adds. As the food database grows it will get even better.
I've used all the other trackers and never found anything as good as this. It's definitely geared more towards advanced users and gives you full control. Also not chock full of false information like MFP. Never going back!! I wish I could donate!
Couldn't be happier with the user interface, so simple and the ability to have and alternate daily goals. Amazing app!
Some of the good ideas are quick entry of meals, & stat reports. But what i hate is that when i hit the back button it just goes through several screen before finally exiting the app. It seems a little too simple. Can't track sugar or other micro-nutrients like salt intake or amount of exercise
Blocks off usage after a month behind a paywall. This app has freaking miles of empty white space, an ad or two wouldn't hurt. The functionality of the app is nice, but not worth monthly payments. Absolutely disgusted.
Good tracker, very flexible and easy to add things on the fly or from your own estimates. I used MyFitnessPal for over one year before switching, and I'm happy I switched. They also have fantastic support for technical issues.
I love this very simple to use journal and micros tracker! Fab stuff :) don't look at other apps - just get it!

Much better than MFP for tracking macros! You can cycle carbs too! Yes, the database is smaller than MFP, but entry accuracy MUCH better than MFP. You can give your recipes a total weight in grams too so you can weigh out portions! I do wish that I could see REMAINING macros left at the bottom (it shows on my nexus 7 but not my LG G3) and that it would have a more material UI. But for the features, it really is the best. Also the dev is very responsive and helpful!!
Easy to use. Cleaner interface than MFP. Great tool for Leangains
Simple and easy-to-use, yet complete, calorie tracker. The interface is clear and is shared between computer and mobile devices. I especially like that it's easy to add personal food products and recipes and the fact that the food search isn't cluttered by (unfortunately mostly inaccurate or only regionally relevant) user-submitted foods.
This app is so simple and so easy to use. It has every feature I want and need with no fluff. Even better, no adds. As the food database grows it will get even better.
This is a really great tool to use that allows you to be fairly detailed in your tracking in a very simple, clean manner. Plus, it helps that they only request simple permissions when you install the app.
I can track my net carb intake without any hassle.
This app is solid but for some reason you can't connect when there isn't a WiFi connection. I rely heavily on my data service through my carrier so it is very inconvenient having to try to find a WiFi connection every time I want to log something. I'll start using this app again once this bug is fixed.... The bug was fixed by the programmer and it was fixed promptly.
So far, I like this app more than LoseIt, for the most part, and definitely more than MFP, which is just a headache and a hassle. The database seems much more accurate than MFP, probably around the same level of LoseIt. Plus it's cheaper than both after the 30-day trial. I love that you can customize your macros, and especially that you can create different types of "days": workout vs rest days so you can have different goals for each. One of the best parts of this app is how responsive the developer is. If you have a question or a suggestion, he will get back to you so quickly! These are the things that I would like to see implemented, which would bump this up to a 5-star. These are things I've brought up to the developer already. * After scanning a bar code, if the nutrient information is incorrect, a way to change the macros to be correct without needing to back out and create a custom food. * A way to change the macros in the macro calculator and have the carbs automatically update to match the calorie goal. * Pretty graphs, similar to LoseIt, so I can see my breakdown at a glance, and/or just a more visible way to view current macros vs. goals.
I've used all the other trackers and never found anything as good as this. It's definitely geared more towards advanced users and gives you full control. Also not chock full of false information like MFP. Never going back!! I wish I could donate!
***ALL FIXED*** Much credit to the app developer for being so fast to reply to my emails. They worked on helping me know that the new updates were out, and the problem I was having of getting an "offline" message when connected to 4g but not a wifi network is fixed. This is the best fitness tracking app on the net. For many reasons it runs circles around my fitness pal, and when you start to learn about fitness and calories and macro nutrient tracking, you will see how LIMITED Under Armor has made my fitness pal so they can get their money from you. This app is less than half the price a month and much easier to use for adding macros, not bloated and FAST on any device I am using it, whereas myfitnesspal always seems to LOAD stuff (mostly ads).
This calorie tracker seems simple enough, but it is the most advanced app of its kind available. I love the simplistic design, and being able to track more information than all the other apps I've tried so far is a major plus. Definitely worth more than the dev asks for. 10/10
Can't add foods for my daily intake. Constantly crashes asking me to email the mods with a long number yet I cant save the number so without taking a screenshot or writing it down its not a quick process as tgen I'd have to email the problem and upload the screenshot. Looked promising too..shame.
Simple, the way tracking macros should be. I have used it since beta and am happy to pay the subscription fee which is half the price of competitors. Developer is very responsive and keeps improving the app.
Switched from MFP and absolutely loving it. Very fast, no nonsense design, not bloated with ads and premium content. Also very good for those on a more advanced diet that requires cycling, or specifying certain macro ratios. Overall my favorite health app, five stars!
This app is great! I love that I can have different calorie and macro targets set for different days. I love how clean and minimal it is, no ads all over the place no distracting social aspect. The developer is also incredibly responsive and receptive to feedback! 5 stars!
I had an issue prior to this review that made this app unusable; I wasn't able to get past the login screen although the rest of the app ran smoothly. One of the developers (Silvio) actively sought me out to work with me to see what the problem was and released a patch that fixed it right up. These are the kind of people that are behind this solid app. Great work guys, I love using your app. Keep it up.

I was looking for a new calorie tracker since MyFitnessPal was getting too gimmicky. I don't want points or a community. I just want to track my damn macros. This app is the perfect tool for the job. Ad-free, quick, and a good database of food.
