About Simple Macro - Calorie Counter

Simple Macro was made to help you keep track of your calories along with keeping track of your macro nutrient distribution. Diet is the most important part of reaching your weight goals whether you want to lose weight or gain muscle. Tracking your macros along with calorie counting is vital to achieving the physique you desire.

You can set your macros by percent of calories contributed or by grams. There is a feature to add food that you've eaten into your favorites so you can quickly add the macros from the food and get on with your meal.

Your macro goals as well as the macro nutrients you've already had for the day will be on display the moment you open the app so you can take a quick peak and see if you need to have some food. You can then swipe to the right in order to begin adding the food you need to hit your goals and start working towards the weight change you want.

Clean design, easy to use, and does the math for me. I can enter food and save it as a favorite for reuse later. For a free app, I couldn't expect more. If the developers are able to put time of day cutoffs and give the ability to group food items as a meal in a purchase version of this app, I'd probably buy it. EDIT: The app lets you save multiple favorite items with the same name. The app crashes when you try to delete one or both of them.

I like this app because of the simplicity of it. I need a place where I can track my macros. Other apps like myfitnesspal make you pay for tracking macros instead of just calories so this was a great find. That being said, one thing I really wish users could do is set a more "permanent" goal rather than having to set the macro goals all over again every day. It's not that it's hard to do but it gets tedious especially when I am short on time. Could also benefit from having its own food nutrition database.

R70%
by R####:

I don't like how it automatically switches to the next day at midnight. I work evenings and my last meal is around midnight and I can't put it in for the day as it goes to the next day. Also, it would be good if the software prevented you from adding the same item in the favorites list. If you forget you already added an item it will let you add it multiple times resulting in clutter. It would also be nice if you can see the macros for your items in your favorites list while scrolling through them.

I really love this app. Just a few things I would add or tweak. I wish it had a running count of macros left. It would be nice if you could set your own eating hours and not have it cut off at midnight. And last but not least it would be nice if there was an option to group a few of your saved favorites to make a meal rather than going back into your favorites and adding each thing one at a time. But like I said I really enjoy this app and the best part is it is free!!!!

U70%
by U####:

I used myfitnesspal for the longest because it was about the only tracker out there or at least the most well developed. But, this is more or less what I wanted. Let me set my goals without a pay wall and allow me to put what I eat with just a little math work. I don't mind that because there is also no need to go online. Try it and form your own opinions. Don't just take my word for it.

by M####:

I like that the app is user friendly. You can set your goals, enter your foods with the nutritional facts. Also, that you can add food easier (after the 1st entery)by adding them to your favorites. However, it would be great if there was a list of foods that you automatically pick from like other apps as opposed to entering them manually. Another plus would be feed back at the end of the day of beginning of the next day. For example, you did not eat enough protein yesterday and this is why it is important.

Used to use Absolute Fitness for Android once upon a time. This is the first proper replacement so I'm very thankful. Let's you add your own foods by 100g so you can measure food and add by exact servings. Would like to have food sorted alphabetically and to be able to edit previous days. Once you hit midnight, you're screwed!!

R70%
by R####:

It could have some profiles, so we could alternate from a bulk setting to a cut one. The possibility of editing the food and time after adding it. And also de option to reorganize the food that has been added, like putting in alphabetical order... That would help a lot! Other than that, great app

W70%
by W####:

This app is the ALMOST perfect Macro Calculator. Couple of simple things need to be updated for me to make this 5 stars: 1. I should be able to add items that I forgot to add to yesterday's macros. 2. I should be able to set my own day times rather than going 12am to 12am. However #2 is less important.

S70%
by S####:

I really like this app. It's a bit time consuming at first because all food and nutrition information has to be entered manually. But after that, entries can be saved to a favorites list to be used again. Great bar graphs and pie charts for those who are more visual. Great app!

N70%
by N####:

Not sure how to start though? I go to "add" then enter the Fat-Carb-Protein info, then swipe to see my goals and it shows "No Entries for Today" what am I missing? There's no Enter, Done or Submit button, hitting "add" again doesn't do anything. ...sorry to be ignorant, how do you make an entry?

R70%
by R####:

Love that you can enter goals and see daily grams AND calories tracked, compare goal to daily entry. Is NOT a food diary though: app keeps only previous day's entries and you have to Favorite foods to avoid having to re-entry. For a free, simple app to help with macros it's just what I needed.

R70%
by R####:

Nice, simple, and minimalist app. By far the best one I've found for tracking macros on a keto diet. The only thing I'd like to see added is the ability to edit a food entry. I've had to make changes a few times and the only way to do it is to delete the entry and reenter it from scratch. I think that could be better. Other than that, great app.

R70%
by R####:

Great app. Once you add your favorite meals is quick and easy. There's only 2 things I'd like added: 1. Add "PFCs left to reach goal" instead of "45g/100g" (maybe not instead of, but in addition to) and 2. Let edit a day past midnight. One day I forgot to add my last meal and I couldn't edit. I had to leave it out. Other than that, great.

R70%
by R####:

Would pay for the app and extra features (alphabetical sorting of food items, ability to save to excel). Very simple and well thought out, extremely helpful to track food intake. I like the little things, like when you try to add an item without a serving size, and the whole thing shakes to let you know you f*ed up. Fantastic

W70%
by W####:

Love this app I just wish it didn't keep resetting at midnight. I work nights so I have gotten to the point of not adding my dinner every day and just have to track that with pen and paper so I hit my goals. I would love an option to close my day or reset time hell even add a sleep tracker and when you go to sleep it ends your day

R70%
by R####:

This app doesn't over-think it and get in your way like so many do these days. There aren't any fancy bells and whistles, it just tracks macro-nutrients. The UX is clear and uncluttered, and the advertising is fairly unobtrusive. This is my favorite app in a long time. Well done!

G70%
by G####:

Calorie count differed somewhat with Googled amounts per serving, but difference was negligible (like ~10 calories at most). I wish they'd have certain things already measured out rather than me having to re-enter everything every time, or use some sort of user meal database. It'd be cool if they had user-generated recipes with calorie counts attached. All in all, though, solid app for its purposes.

E70%
by E####:

Such an awesome, simple app. I had to download 5 apps before I found one that met my few requirements. So many of the popular 'calorie counting' and fitness apps are bloated with stuff I didn't need, or fixed foods with fixed nutritional content. I already know my goals and it's easy enough to look up the nutritional content of my food on its packet or online. The favourites feature makes this even quicker since 9/10 times I'm eating the same stuff. All I needed was a light app to make tracking my macros easy and this app does that, displaying it in graphs that are easy on the eye and make checking how much more you can eat in the day more rewarding. Thanks guys.

R70%
by R####:

Fantastic app in how simple it is to use. It does what it says it does and not a bit else. I often find myself using other apps and Internet sites to supplement this one in areas that I find lacking such as nutrition facts library or general search tools that help one determine the macro content of common foods. Still great as an app.

Z70%
by Z####:

It's a very simplistic app, which has pros and cons. You're able to track your macros in a few clicks and it tracks throughout the day for you. However, it would be nice if you could add foods without having to add them for that day as if you've already eaten it, then hitting the heart button. Another thing that would be nice is a log of the past week of your macros instead of just yesterday. The most important thing to me is to be able to use OUNCES in serving size, not just grams or ml -my only complaint.

Z70%
by Z####:

Great list of features with very good data visualization. It gets right what a lot of tracker apps out there get wrong. Only draw backs are that it doesn't search online for items or give you recommended macros. Not a big deal if you know what you are doing

B70%
by B####:

For someone just starting to learn macros, this is a perfect app to help. However, I work a lot of nights and would like to be able to track my macros for my time awake and not between 12-12. I am unable to add to my macros for "yesterday" when I eat something when I eat after work..

H70%
by H####:

The only thing missing is a planning method. I'd love to put in all the food I intend to eat for the day to make sure I stay within my macro ranges, then check them off when I actually eat them to update the totals. I hate days where I'm really low on Carbs but hit my limit on fats and proteins so I have to try and figure out what I can actually eat. Could the favorites list only populate with food that won't put you over your max? Other than that I love it. Easy to use, easy to figure out. All the calculations work great. Beats the $9.99 a month I would have to spend on myfitnesspal to track macros.

K70%
by K####:

Love the simplicity of the interface and I think that it will work well. But, a couple of things that I would like to have are: 1. The ability to add a food without having to add it to the day's intake. I.e. Be able to build the database without adding a food, the favouriting it in the day's log and then erasing it. 2. The ability to edit an existing entry. I think these additions would go a long way.

I really like this app. Simple to use, no need to be a genius! I don't need an app that calculates my macros, as I already have a good gauge of that. So this is perfect for me as it allows me to log in my macros as I eat them. So it keeps me in check, and I dont have to second guess myself if I find myself out and about and needing to have an extra snack. It allows me to keep track of exactly how many macros I've eaten, and how many are left for the day. It has definitely helped me stay on track!

I love this app! But I lost all my favorite food entries that I saved over the last year when I switched phones? I'm using the same Gmail account but there is no logins to save your data. Is there anyway I get get these back? Maybe I'm missing something?

Works great and requires no intrusive permissions. You can easily add your own favourites - great when you cook a lot of food from scratch. Would have been 5 star but its annoying when it cuts your day off at midnight and you can't anything to the 'previous' day, 3am would be more sensible.

I was initially really excited to find app. However, maybe there is a glitch or somthing, it will let me act like iam adding food but there is no heart button or add button ? Help!

The app is pretty sweet. I love that you can save your favorite meals for easy entries! Although, the app sometimes crashes when you try to save an entry to your favorites... Also, it would be great if you could categorize your favorites list, or modify items after they've been added to favorites

R70%
by R####:

Great app I like the simplicity of it. I have been looking for an app like this for about 6 months now. I like how you can set goals for the macros you want and I like how you can manually enter in food and save it to favorites. Only thing I would suggest is adding a database that saves your previous days food you ate that way you can add items that you might of forgot to put in your favorites

N70%
by N####:

Would rate only 3 stars, but gave 4 stars because the alternates out there are all much more annoying. This app does as promised, very simple. My main wish is for the ability to back up your data, at least the saved favorites. I recently had to reset my phone and now must enter everything all over again. It would also be a nice bonus to be able to adjust the day cron.

R70%

This app was exactly what I was looking for. Except that the ads at the bottom of the page rendered it useless. Unable to actually add any foods because of ads covering literally the only button on the @#*$ page that was needed to make the app actually function. And clicking to report that the ad covered the page did not help because then in place of the ad you got a message saying thank you for your feedback, and then another ad.

R70%
by R####:

Very helpful, motivates you to eat all of your food but I wish the schedule wasn't fixed at 12am-12am.. I wake up at different times, there should be a start and end option. Other than that it's great :)

This is a nice lightweight app that helps you keep track of macros. You don't have to create an account and it doesn't yell at you if you don't log in for a couple of days. I would like to be able to edit my history though. Sometimes at night I'm lazy and don't log anything. It would be nice to go back in the morning and fill it in. 10/10 would recommend.

C70%
by C####:

I don't understand why all the apps like this don't have a date bank of the macros for common foods. It's requires you to look then up online and manually input them! How inefficient!

C70%
by C####:

Great app. But it would be nice if you could stipulate the hours which start and end your day. Or maybe a button that gives you the option to close the day. Right now it automatically closes the day at midnight when some of us sadly don't stop there.

H70%
by H####:

5 stars because this is the only good macronutrient-tracking app that isn't a complete rip-off. Other apps will charge you $10/month for this service which is ridiculous. Developers: I would pay $5 for this app if you would include a produce library. It takes more effort to calculate what I put into my salad than it takes to make the salad itself.

X70%
by X####:

This app needs some instructions to get started. It isn't particularly clear and you have to work out the values for everything yourself. I think once that I have every one of my regular meals and drinks saved in then it will be easier to use

C70%

Makes it easy to see what I can eat. Eating healthy has never been this easy.
