About AutoRemote

Remotely control your phone, PC and web (with IFTTT integration)!

With AutoRemote you have full control of your phone, from wherever you are by sending push notifications to your phone and reacting to them in Tasker or AutoRemote standalone apps!

Please don't leave negative feedback without contacting me first. I'll always do my best to help you, and I can't do that if I can't contact you.

AutoRemote is an amazingly flexible remote control system, them gives the user an unprecedented level of control. So, for example, you could control your PC or Chrome Browser from your Android device, control your Android device from hundreds of web services (like Facebook or Twitter for example), or even your Linux PC from anywhere. The possibilities are endless and you decide what and how things work remotely!

Check out everything you can do with AutoRemote here: http://joaoapps.com/autoremote/what-it-is/

Make sure you click the AutoRemote menu button at the top for a full list of possibilities.

Here's a must see video for anyone starting out with AutoRemote: http://goo.gl/RYCTh

This is how it works:
- Send an AutoRemote message from a web browser, your desktop, EventGhost, Chrome, Zapier, or any place where you can call an URL
- Setup an AutoRemote profile in Tasker to react to the message
- Do whatever you like with that message!

Check out the Quickstart guide (http://goo.gl/OhZsg)

With device-to-device or PC-to-device messaging, you can control one of your devices from another device or even from your PC! And with a Tasker plugin to send messages via AutoRemote, you can have full bi-directional messaging!
Imagine requesting your phone's location and have it displayed in a map on your tablet or PC.

You can also directly Share links or text to another device via the regular Share menu in Android! Imagine you are checking out a YouTube video on your phone, and directly open it on your bigger Tablet screen for better viewing!

With AutoRemote you have advanced matching options and a flexible command system (see how it works here: http://goo.gl/PRQas). It works just like with joaomgcd's AutoBarcode app!

See many use case examples here, including AutoRemote uses for saving lives and keeping in touch with your loved ones: http://goo.gl/3mFgz

Possible uses for AutoRemote(all these uses are fully customizable. You are free to use any other words or commands):

Can't remember where you put your phone? Create a lost-my-phone" command:
You could send a "Where are you?" message to your phone, and have Tasker respond with a repetitive "I'm here! I'm here!".

Let your wife send you a spoken shopping list when you get off work:
You can use AutoRemote with other Tasker conditions, such as the Date and Time conditions. Create a "shop=:=" command and combine it with a 5PM condition. Then, share your personal AutoRemote URL with your wife and have her send stuff she needs you to buy like "shop=:=carrots and ice cream". Then, at 5PM your phone could say that list out loud: "You need to go shopping! You need to buy carrots and ice cream"

Find my Phone:
Send a "location" command and have your phone respond with its location via AutoRemote to another Android device, or simply SMS to any phone

And many many more! Your imagination is the limit!

Fantastic app! Using it more and more all the time, yet know I've only scratched the surface of its capabilities. However, for some time now, the achievements feature sign-in hasn't worked for me, failing with "Unknown issue with Google Play Services". It's a shame because it works for all the other plugins, and i use them for ideas of new stuff to try...

No longer have to use calendar entries for tablet actions, which i was finding unreliable due to syncing problems. Now i can send a message to the tablet to turn its flashlight on to act as a night light en route home at night or early morning and the message is sent in approx 13 seconds. The tablet sends a reply, when the message is received, reasonably quickly. Also used to control tablet volume match phone at home and become silent when away.

by C####:

Unusable since IFTTT changed their maker channel into webhooks. No tutorials align anymore, and doing everything manually, this app fails to give a valid url as the key is always invalid. Sending test message always yields "Service Not Available"

This app has been around for a while and it is awesome! Even my old devices running the ancient JellyBean OS can run this app! This Tasker plugin falls nothing short of amazing! I use this app to allow ALL my android devices (and Windows PCs) to communicate w/ each other! For example, I have 6 IP Webcams setup around my house for Security. (3 old phones, 1 Tablet, Nvidia Shield, Windows 8 Laptop). All of these can be switched On/Off using my Phone and/or Windows 7 PC (w/ EventGhost and Chrome Browser AutoRemote AddOn). I can share battery info w/ all my devices, reboot my devices and much, much more. If you're into automation like I am, do yourself a favor and just d/l all of joao's plugins. Sure, there might be a learning curve involved b/c of the massive amount of options this dev brings to Tasker, but there is a forum and the dev is very quick to respond to any questions or concerns!

Originally I had a problem getting a working URL, but when I emailed the developer, joaomgcd, he responded almost immediately. Now I've got a working URL and I'm really impressed that he would focus on helping just one single person. If you ever have a problem with one of his apps, he's sure to help you sort it out.

Must have bought all your apps I could. Just too many things your apps make easier using tasker. I'm sure autoapps is good for some but subscriptions really isn't my thing :)

This is arguably the most essential of all of the AutoApps plug-ins for Tasker, as it allows your devices to communicate with one another, passing messages and files back and forth via wi-fi, Bluetooth, GCM and Google Drive. If it rankles slightly that this plug-in's asking price is more than that of Tasker itself, consider that this is more indicative of altruism on the part of the latter's developer than of greed on the part of the individual behind this app. The documentation is lacking, and the language used to describe concepts and configuration options in the app can be confusing and inconsistent. This is compounded by the fact that third-party articles and tutorials often refer to obsolete versions of the plug-in. All of this makes for a steep learning curve for the beginner, but the same is true of the underlying Tasker, too. If you persevere, the clouds will eventually start to part and you'll find yourself adding simple peer-to-peer networking to your Tasker projects. Note that AutoRemote offers no end-to-end encryption whatsoever, so any messages you send are only as safe as the underlying network layer.

Would be perfect if could finally sort out dodgy theming / icon inconsistency between activities. and default notification icon to be white, per android design guides.

I don't know how Joao does it, but this is seriously amazing. I've automated... A lot. With this. It's crazy. Makes server administration both stupid-simple and, well, pretty, since I can pipe controls to a widget on my homescreen. Crazy stuff.

We use AutoRemote for everything. Phones, tablets, computers, TV. I had no idea how much we rely on AutoRemote until I tried to make use of an old phone (Android 2.1) and couldn't install it. A brilliant app, and the second app to be installed (after Tasker).

D70%

Great app, great dev. Makes me life way easier with Tasker and cross-device communication, plus Joao is amazing and is willing to help anyone and everyone that has an issue.

On Android 2.3.4 I get an invalid package file. It works on my newer Android phone though.

Y70%

This is a great app but please find a way to stop the AutoRemote Wifi service from being stopped. I have to start it manually about every 6 - 8 hours cause it gets stopped. Thanks

Y70%
by Y####:

My phones stop getting messages after about an hour. The only way to get messages again is to reboot. Push Notification Fixer does not help, even with all phones rooted. The Dev's support email address returns a delivery failure and his support forum will not allow me to post a question.
