JVC Smart Music Control for Android
It only works for phone calls but never recognizes that it is connected to play music. It is frustrating as hell. I picked out this radio because they said it had Bluetooth capabilities to play music from cell phones. They didn't tell me it never works because the app is garbage.
It really brought out my stereo full potential. Instead of having to turn it up all the way I don't have to even turn it up half. Sound quality is great and I use Bluetooth nomore cords. Love it.
Piece of crap. Installed on my Blackberry Priv which is compatible, but the app won't open.
Keeps kicking me out of the app.... I would like to use it with my new car stereo......
Not perfect app could be improved but it's free and does the job. Certain settings only show when your playing music and can get confusing.
It works on my car stereo. Amazing. When I turn on my car, the app comes on, eventually. Then there is a warning message to not use while driving, 90 seconds after starting the car. So I pull over to click OK. Then the app can call up another app like Spotify, but the default is to play music from my library. All I have is ringtones. So the app starts playing, in succession, all of my ring tones. So I pull over again to have it start Spotify. Eventually Spotify starts in pause. So I hit play.
Not particularly user friendly. I'm fairly savvy with learning controls relatively quick but it might give some people trouble trying to figure out. Unfortunately the app does not access my purchased and downloaded Google play music, which comprises 70 percent of my current music collection which is not good. Personally I'll just stick with Google's regular media player, but if you have all your music in movable mp3 files you might have a better experience with this app.
It connects perfectly to my jvc radio. When in control mode messages are read for me. I control the device with buttons on the radio. My only complaint is if you are listening to one of the apps you listed in the apps section, say Audible, and get out of the car when you get back in it defaults to the music player. It would be way better if it remembered you were listening to the app
Simply dosnt work if you don't store your music locally as a normal file unlike Spotify's encrypted files. The fact that you can't get to the head units settings without a gesture makes it awkward to use.
I find this app not to be driver friendly. I will need to practice at home first, and set it up in such a way that i can use basic functions. Anything on the fly or new, is too complicated
I was excited to have an app to control my car stereo. Sadly this app auto launches and starts playing my voice recordings.**** No thats not Awkward. **** There does not seem to be a settings menu to direct the app to a specific folder for audio or when to launch. There is also no way to shut it off. Pressing the pause icon makes it play, pressing the play (triangle) icon makes it pause. ****That couldn't be frustrating at all****. Sadly, I am now uninstalling this app as it is just terrible.
All the sexy graphics and unwanted mood functionality and this app can't do something as simple as playing albums in order. There's no concept of just being able to load up a folder full of music and have it play. You have to learn the gesture system to use the app in even a most basic fashion. Despite their quasi-futuristic interface you can only add songs to a custom playlist one at a time - can't do it with albums or artists. I really didn't like this music player.
Crashes whenever I scroll midway past songs starting with t. If this worked rating would be much higher as I don't mind the interface and I would love to be able to use the connectivity. Please bugfix the too many songs crash.
Constantly crashes when I have my whole music collection on my phone. The voice control doesn't work when I am driving only when I am stationery. When it does work though it is pretty good.
I like the layout and interface of swiping on music screen, however the app crashes and exits when you swipe too fast which is useless and dangerous as a driving app. Also, 'skip backwards' while on shuffle goes to a random song, not the last played, unlike every other music interface ever programmed since CD players were invented.
Controls are not that simple and the wrong input is easy. Also, it's not that intuitive, but can be figured out. It is cool though to be able to control radio!
Impressive functionality with gestures, a bit awkward to navigate, generally pretty happy with it.
It works with a galaxy s5. A few glitches it tends to just pause for no reason. After answering a phone call it's iffy if it'll let you go back to music without restarting the app. Lose the stupid mood thing and enlarge the buttons
I installed this app 6 months ago for my new JVC car stereo and it is terrible. It wont sync with Google Maps while driving so i can hear directions thru car speakers. Hard to control Pandora and it plays in the background all day killing my phones battery. This app needs some improvements.
I do have some trouble with it tho.
Thx men is work in all my 2 cars and I'm can used my tablet on my 2015 corolla
Keeps on saying "no connection"
... or give up on the app/mhl biz. S5 with kw-v51bt
I installed this to work with my new JVC car stereo, but I am regretting it. It is constantly starting itself, which kills my phone's battery life (I'm not even near the car)! It isn't very user friendly. I feel like all I've done is battle with it to work the way I need it to. I gave it 2 stars instead of 1, because it does work, it's just a pain. I'm willing to give it 1 more chance, but only 1.
I'm using this with a x310 and Nexus 5. Sadly, the only swipe working is the volume control. The layout is awkward - e.g. the equalizer works but is buried in settings. Never understands voice commands. It's kind of a fake app for me. Update:A while back they fixed some things and it's working pretty well controlling my x310. Swipes work also. Phone calls interrupt music then go back to it , as it should. Wish it would stop annoying me with Disclaimer not to use it while driving. Yeah, right.
Cool app but all it does is roll through all ur songs, if u have any playlists on your phone u cant access them, i have a lot of different genres of music on my phone so rolling through all songs isnt what i want. I just wish the app would let me make a playlist or something
Starts randomly, starts when YouTube is done, starts when I plug in my head phones. Doesn't start when connected to JVC unit.
I'm using it with a kw v31bt , LG G3 and controlling it from the receiver touch screen, it works ok but some changes can improve the experience. Improvments : Enlarged the Home button, support geners , allowing to add full albums and songs from any list to playlist, remember the last select in songs, artist , albums... Allowing to turn on the voice control from the receiver Mic button
The app is too fiddly to be used to control the stereo in the car. What is needed is an app that just has big buttons that doesn't play music ( basically a big remote like the BR1 app) as most people have a favourite music player which works fine for them.
Could be a lot better.... GUI is clunky, as it is on my v51bt.... thinking of just switching to an android head unit such as parrot
Works great, but I wish that annoying "don't use when driving " notice would not appear every time it starts.just want to get in my car and go
Crashes a lot. Not sure what max song list it can handle. The random song playback doesn't seem to be very random. It will replay songs 2 or 3 times and never hear others.
What an application,woow!!!! I like it.Guys download it.Thank u very much JVC
A must have let's me tune my eq through my phone
Totally awesome, I get in my car and it automatically starts playing my music!!
It works very well and it is easy to control the head unit with the app.
Simple, easy to use app work great with my new JVC head unit.
It puts a whole new spin, on hands free!
I find this app not to be driver friendly. I will need to practice at home first, and set it up in such a way that i can use basic functions. Anything on the fly or new, is too complicated

Real nice! I'm using JVC HA-F160W (Gumy) earphones and made it perform up to its full potential. Need work on the equalizer though. I cannot see the changes that im making without saving my settings first and going back to the adjustment screen. Looking forward to a better equalizer and more equalizer bands.
