Daily Office Lectionary for Android
I have been using the Daily Office Lectionary for about a couple of months. It is super easy to use. i just open it each day and it automatically pulls the readings for that day. It is also easy to scroll between the different readings for this day. The ability to select different font and type sizes made it easy to customize the view for my phone.
As a new Episcopal, found this very useful.
A splendid resource, this app allows one to attend to the daily readings anywhere, at any time. A fine value.
Great app and is very easy to use. Like nothaving to be connected to the Internet.
Great to read. Only one major problem, every time I open it, it opens on the wrong date, that is it is not the same date as the one that appears on my iPhone version. The same app, different dates. I have reloaded it multiple times and still the same problem.
The update did a good job - His other apps are working great too. I highly recommend this app, and the developers' others, as they relate to the Episcopalian - or anybody- who wants QUALITY APPS OF SPIRITUAL HELP, in their lives. This is really good. +ab
Firstly, it's not based on the Revised Common Lectionary, which is used in nearly all churches, including the Episcopal Church. Basing it on the 1979 BCP was uncool. Secondly, even if it had been based on a more commonly used lectionary, it's inability to jump quickly to a given date makes it quite difficult to use. Thirdly, even when you get to the correct date, it's not quick to scroll to the Gospel, for example. In summary, ugh... If you need a lectionary, "Mass Lectionary and Preaching", even though it is nominally designed for Roman Catholics, includes the Revised Common Lectionary and therefore fills the bill for most Protestants as well. It also includes links to quickly access the daily readings and provides a means to jump to any calendar date.
I like the appearance of the text and the translation used (NKJV). I LOVE how the scheduled readings are just there for me. That really encourages my regularly reading the Word. I also love the idea that all of us are reading the Word together. One problem thar needs to be fixed, and an improvement I'd request: There's a glitch with the scrolling. Every so often as I scroll down through the readings, the text will jump back UP a screen or two. I have to "hold" the screen with one finger and continue scrolling with other to get past that point in the text. I wish the texts were page oriented so that I could "flip" through the readings insteadof scrolling through the stream of texts. Otherwise, I'm fairly happy with the app, and I try to read daily, morning & evening. I originally said that the app took up 43 KILObytes instead of MEGAbytes, but I was wrong. For some reason, my file manager reported the size as 43 K. When I checked the next day, it did report 43 MB. But the size was very close to the sizes of other apps I have.
The app does not seem to work at all on my nexus 4. It locks up immediately. I have reinstalled and it still doesn't work.
I am new to Android and I am populating my phone with apps I used on iPhone. I had a lectionary app that included both daily and Sunday readings. Can't find any such for the droid. Pity.
It was hard to use, very difficult to navigate. It finally froze and stopped working.
I just love having this app on my tablet and for having it at my fingertips every day! Thank you for this app!
Lots about "Kingdomtide," which I don't see anywhere in my BCP. Not a fan of NKJV. And the app doesn't know it's All Saints Day, a principal feast.
That said, with this being the initial release, there is room for some enhancements. Wish I could default to NRSV and jump to a desired date.
Yhis is very useful for every week for the service. Thank you
This app doesn't work with Galaxy S5. Please fix. I uninstalled and reinstalled several times.
Installed on Moto X. Never opened successfully. Very unhappy.
Stopped working on all of my android devices. What is going on, its holy week!
I just installed the app on my nookHD and it is working very well. I have been looking for this type of app for a long time and glad I found this. I realy like that you can move between the NRSV and NKJV versions with one tap. And I had quick responce from the developer. However, the info about the size of the app does not seem right as mentioned in other comments. On my device the app is 19 mb in size and about 43 mb in data, that is not a problem for me, but it might be for others.
I loved this app, then it just stopped working. I tried reinstalling, but no joy. This was my mainstay for so long, nothing even comes near to what this was when it was working. Please fix it!
I open the app and it freezes. I had the iPhone version and thought it was great. Won't run on the HTC one
.. of having an SD option if you going to put 43 mb of data on the phone???
Great app, the readings are helpful and are very well displayed. The app is a daily lectionary, it is not the rcl or a weekly lectionary.
Happy with content and output. Its a great resource.
Lousy application. I hate that I paid for it. Never worked even a little.
Even though the app says it is 13 MB in the store, it actually uses 44 MB, even when you move it to the SD card. No other app I have even comes close. My biggest memory hogs are only 20 MB. Unusable at that size. Wish I had discovered this before my 15 minutes were up. I'd like my money back.
Does not give correct readings. We are currently in year B and the readings are for year 1
Will not download and I Lost my money.second time I bought it Tried to download it Without success.may need more work on it
I only had this app a week or two, none of the readings, psalms and epistles were at all correct. Emailed the creator who said he'd check into it, no response. Very disappointed in the app. If I could give it zero stars I would because it was a waste of money and disrespectful of the thought that goes into the purpose of each reading. They're chosen for a reason.
Installed on galaxy s running 2.2. The app won't work at all, just get a runtime error message and if remains frozen. Have tried uninstalling and reinstalling but of no help. Looking forward to it being fixed. Have this app on my ipod and it is terrific.

The Daily Office books are $100 for the set. Can't beat $2.
