About Juice for Roku

Note: Please try the free DEMO version before purchasing the full version to make sure the app will work with your device and network setup. If you purchase the full version, please uninstall the demo version in order to avoid conflicts between the two versions.

Note: For the app to work, you must install the Juice channel on your Roku by going here: https://owner.roku.com/add/juice. Also note that if you have a router with two channels (regular and guest), your Roku and your Android device must be connected to the same channel.

Juice for Roku lets you to stream media directly from your Android device to your Roku player: No need for a separate server!

Does NOT support YouTube and flash based videos, and does not support Google Music. Also note that videos in any format other than MP4 are unlikely to play. See here: http://support.roku.com/entries/423946-what-media-file-types-does-the-roku-usb-media-player-channel-support. ALSO - the Roku doesn't support videos taken in portrait mode.

- Send photos, music, videos from your Android device
- Send media from the internet to the Roku using the Share functionality or audio and video podcasts (feeds)
- Send individual photos or send a complete slide show
- Send individual songs or whole albums to the Roku. Songs can be shuffled.
- Background Juice service will continue to serve files to the Roku while you use other Android apps
- Use the “Share” menu from the gallery, browser and other supported apps to send media to the Roku without having to launch the Juice app
- NEW - SHOWBOX SUPPORT. Send downloaded ShowBox videos to your Roku by going to the Videos tab and selecting the "show_box" folder. Does not work with streamed Showbox videos.
- No need for a home media server
- No need for cables
- No need to upload your files to a web server
- Fully functional remote control included with the same functionality as the Roku Remote app (sold separately)

One of the best things about this app is it's ability to work with other apps. For example, long press a link to a photo, song or video in the browser and share it to the Juice app to start it playing on the Roku. Or long press an episode in your Podcast app and share it to Juice to hear it through your Roku connected system. With the share feature, you can stream almost anything on the internet to the Roku, in addition to streaming what is already on your Android device.

Requirements:
- You must add the Juice channel to your Roku (https://owner.roku.com/add/juice)
- Android device and Roku player must be on the same network
- Plugging your Android device into your computer may prevent the app from accessing the SD card. In general, don't have plug your Android device into the computer when using the app. Charging is OK.
- Not all video formats are supported by the Roku. See the supported formats here: http://support.roku.com/entries/423946-what-media-file-types-does-the-roku-usb-media-player-channel-support
- Some MP4s created on Android devices may not work since Roku doesn't support all codecs. It depends on the Android device. Also, the Roku doesn't support videos taken in portrait mode.

Troubleshooting:
- If you notice lag or unresponsiveness, power off your android device and/or the Roku and try again. This resolves nearly all connectivity issues. You should only have to do this infrequently.

I just downloaded it and haven't tried it yet...... wouldn't let me download the free version first to let me see if it worked. Not a good start, especially with a lot of negative reviews. Good thing I'm desperate

Didn't even bother to try streaming, this wouldn't even play a file from my phone. Total garbage.

I watch movies all the time using the juice app on my phone & ROKU device.

This app actually works. I found it on the Roku app store and then installed the demo version on my phone. It did everything it said. I played a 1080p video without any buffering or lip sync issues. I bought the full version after about 15 mins of using the demo. One thing I would like to see is a file browsing option for music, you have it for movies. I have been looking for something like this for months. There are loads out there but until now none of them worked. Well done developer.

Download the free version first to ensure your phone and roku are compatible. Once it successfully connects, uninstal the free version. Purchase this version. Note: If you are trying to cast a movie, it should be in the mp4 format.

But it hasn't worked for me in over a month and that's disappointing because its a paid app. Fix it.

Really like the app its worth 3 bucks ..paid for it for the share option... didn't know the share option wasn't going to work every time ..plz upgrade the share option so it works better..I would pay 10 for the app if the share worked every time.

Won't give me option to select folder with my movies in it. Have to completely kill up for it to refresh and search directory. Doesn't work on my tablet with 32 GB SD card, but works on my phone with 16 GB SD.

Y70%
by Y####:

Since the most recent Android and Roku updates this app is no longer working. It will not recognize my Roku. I've restarted both devices, checked to make sure the IP address hadn't changed and even did a factory reset on my tablet thinking that might be the issue. Used to be my favorite app for streaming from my tablet to my Roku3 but now it's useless.

Works well enough. Worth the price.

Y70%

The video sometimes plays depending on the format. If I have HD or widescreen format, it will say that it can't play. The music, I try using the pause button, but instead it goes to the next track. I can't use the menu from the drop down to pause and play. I have to use the D-pad to choose from the tv screen, which means the tv needs to be on and not just the speakers.

Worked great until I switched to an LG Volt. Now it can barely establish a connection.

K70%

I have used this app for years and years now, my experience is mostly great. I've had problems but the developer has reached out to try and correct the problem. As some one who purchased this app probably 3 years ago I know that the money I gave them is long gone and spent but this or these developers are fully vested in making the app work for every one, a near impossible task on the Android platform with so many different versions and devices floating about! That in its self is worth 5 stars.

Y70%
by Y####:

Now every time i try to watch a movie it says shared video then closes down. Have tried reinstalling the app to no avail. Will look for an alternative

Y70%
by Y####:

Works every time

M70%
by M####:

This is a great app - I've been using it since late 2012 to stream videos or pictures to the roku players in my house (or at family). Its easy to use, never has any video issues, and is more reliable than many of the 'big' apps on Roku (like Hulu Plus). I had a minor issue with a recent version of Android which the developer quickly worked to fix. Highly recommended!

Y70%
by Y####:

I don't understand all the hate that has been posted. I even have an older phone and it works great for me. You have to have the right file format. Try the media converter app for that. Thanks for a great roku transfer app that actually works.
